  1. I hear that Gary. As a youngster, I use to trap racoons and coyote's. On one occasion caught a skunk. I thought I'd shoot him and get my trap back. Well, I tried to get him out of the trap, but the smell was so damn intence I almost blew my chow. That trap is still out in the woods today.
  2. Gary, my wife (Denise) is exceptional, and I'm not saying that because CB's a member and can read this. It's a fact, she is. She's a neat freak like me, and loves to cook, which is great because I love to eat. Did I mention I was neat? When I told Denise I was going to sell my OO-Corn's she got a little upset. She really loves the way they look and more importantly, she knew I planned to eventually move them to the master BR, where she loves to listen to music while she works. Anyway, that's why I'm able to get these Belle's, that and the fact that they're a beatiful speaker, possibly better looking than the Cornwalls, ooooops, I did'nt say that. Anyway, she is wonderful, and the Belle's will go in the Master BR. As for my HTS's speakers, I will have 2 Khorns for FRONTS, 2 Vert. Corns for CENTERS, 2 Vert. Corns REAR SUR. and 2 Forte's (CB's recommendation) MID SUR. All I need is the Forte's and that's it (ya right!). As far as me reaching CB's level of audio expertise,HA!, NO WAY!. CB's knowledge about audio equipment is at a whole different platue. I'm just trying to crawl to the first step of the beginners platue. And it's funny you should mention his knowledge on the subject, because today I sent him an email telling him know how much better he was able to explain the differences between Horn-Loaded and Reflex type bass. Not to knock anyone who replied to my recent thread, I do thank those guy's that responded. It's just that CB did it so damn well. He explained it in a private email to me, and was able to do it in just a couple of brief paragraphs, in a language that was simple and easy to follow. NOW THAT IS PROOF OF KNOWLEDGE. Need I say more. That's all; Jeff, did you get me email? Please say they're mine.
  3. JEFF,................. You've got mail! I want them. Please email me some additional photos, email to duphas@valornet.com
  4. Clark, I'm a structural engineer. -------------------------------------------------------- EAR, I got an excellent deal on my system, and I did'nt even pay tax. I purchased my system from a local seller, Ulitimate Electronics. The only reason I purchased it from a local seller is because I was worried about possible warranty related problems. When an audio system's cost exceeds the $10,000 mark, you damn sure better consider warranty hassels. And if you think you can intimedate a high-end audio retail store by just walking in and spouting off prices, your full of it. You'll have to substantiate your claims before they'll even budge. Speaking of substantiating evidence,.... How do you know what the real cost of audio equipment is? Did you surf the net of online sellers,.... or do you work in the audio industry or related field? I would love to hear your opinion (or more realistically, Your Guess) at what the real..actual MARK-UP is on high-end audio equipment.
  5. Dodger, I have 2 pairs of Cornwall II's. Both have removable back covers. What year did Klipsch change?
  6. REAL STORES??......Damn Ear, your pretty brutal to the On-line sellers with REAL STOCK. If it was'nt for online stores (like Downtown Audio), the local Krell dealer here in Tulsa would have drained my wallet for an unnecessary $3500.00. And that was on the Krell stuff alone. Thanks to online sellers, I also saved a bundle on a Monster power conditioner and Denon DVD player. Savings there added up to about $1000. That's no small change either. I say screw the REAL STORES that sells everything at retail. Sink or swim baby; If you want my money, you better drive the price down and come back to planet earth, because I don't have $3500 or even $100 to waste or give away to a REAL STORE retailer. I work damn hard for my money, and the money I saved on these purchases bought me plenty of Klipsch Heritage. 6 cornwalls and a sizeable payment on a pair of Khorns to be exact. And none of the stuff I purchased is mediocre, especially not the KLIPSCH. Personally, I prefer to use quotes from online sellers to force the local retailer back down to earth. When the salesman trys to counter by bringing up shipping cost, just through sales tax at him/her. Without online sellers, you might as well just bend over and hand the salesman your vaseline , because he won't use his.
  7. 1.) What's the difference from a construction stand point (i.e. How is horn loading accomplished)? 2.) What's the difference from a listening stand point? 3.) Is one more desireable than the other for listening to Music or say having it in a HTS.
  8. OK, ok, I've been warned, but I love those WO-Belle's on ebay. But before I bid, I'd like to know if anyone on the forum is interested in a pair of Cornwalls in OO, they have a Mostly Brown with Black Grill Cloth. They are in excellent condition, and I would rate them 9.5 out of 10. Just one very minor cosmetic flaw. I want $900 for them, which is exactly what I paid. Shipping will be additional of course. I purchased the speakers a few months ago from a forum member, and the only reason I'm considering selling them is to make room for that pair of Belle's. If, I don't get the Belle's on ebay, I will not sell them.

  10. Moon, I saw those pictures of your money-pit, ooops, I mean HTS. And your way!, way! beyond any help the AAA could ever offer.
  11. Is anyone interested in purchasing a pair of Cornwalls OO. I purchased them from a fellow forum member and are in excellent condition, I'd rate them 9.5 out of 10. The only reason they don't score 10 is because of a minor cosmetic flaw at the corner of 1 of the speakers; It is very very minor, and almost not worth mentioning. I'd like to get what I paid for them, which is $900. (I did not include what I paid for shipping, $130)
  12. Moon: I beleive On and Off axis as it relates to sound, has to do with the orientation of the listener with respect to the sound wave. It's been a while, but that's what I remember from a physics class. Damn it, now you've got me interested in this subject. The firm I work for does structural design for lots of Imax, AMC and Showcase theaters. I'll give some of the Architects a call, and see if I can dig up any useful information for you. This could take a couple of days, but could yield some good info for you. I'll Be Back!
  13. That is a vey logical and well defined explanation Gil. I think I've learned something, thanks.
  14. CB, help me, help me. I'm falling in love with those WO Belle's . Please talk me out of them, Help Help!
  15. Easy questions, even for me. Get the FORTE's dude, THE FORTE's
  16. Hey Mallet: JBL use to make some kick butt speakers. I don't know about now, since they've combined with HK though. But my folks own a pair of L250's in Teak that I purchased for them back in 1984. The sound absolutely fantastic and are beautiful to look at. Cyclone is right though, the spec's don't look impressive, not impressive at all for $25,000 worth of speakers.
  17. tbabb here's a link.... http://www.basslinear.com/product.html#Distribution%20Information This insulation is really slick. I researched the subject of accoustical insulation for speaker enclosures for several weeks before comming across this stuff. And the more I dug into it, the better and better it sounded. After speaking with this guy in Atlanta (he left a post on some obscure musicians forum that I accidently stumbled across, and thats how I found him) that opperates a recording studio, I was sold on getting it. The inventor's first name is Carl (his last name escapes me for now) and the company is Eagle Talon's Productions. Their out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
  18. Thanks guys, I had to show off my labor of love. As for the lighting effects, no so. The photo does show how they really look, honest. Before I started the refinishing work on my 67's, the veneer coloring looked (to me anyway) to be the same as my 90 Khorns and 68 Cornwalls, which are also in Oiled Walnut. Only the grain patten is different, obviously. Greg, how do I resize the photo? The origional picture was taken with a 35mm, and the slide was then digitized with a slide scanner. The jpg is around 850kb. Also, I just gotta ask, what year is the Porche. I loved the 928 and was sad when they stopped producing it. Gorgeous car, absolutely sex on wheels. The S4 version was the best for that model too.
  19. Reel, those are Oiled Walnut. The final sanding was done with 600 grit. Their smooth as glass. I did not stain them, they are origional. I only sanded on them to remove a water stain and some shallow scratches, and applied boiled lynseed oil.
  20. Here's a picture of my 67 Cornwalls. I'm finally finished with the sanding, and BLO for a while. This photo was take a week ago, and I'm currently installing the Basslinear accoustical insulation. The dimensional consistency of the insulation is excellent. And is very easy to install, a little time consuming, but easy to install. I hope the insulation improves the low end response as good as the reviews say. Anyway, here's the pictures, enjoy. And I'll post a photo of the completed cabinet showing off the Basslinear insulation when I'm done this weekend. See Ya!!
  21. Chill ICE (get it), there been an internal fued going on with a few of the BB members, and unfortunately their quarl has rolled onto your thread. Most of the time this is a very informative forum, use the search engine and you'll find lots of info. I very recently posted a similar question and got some very useful info. Good luck!!
  22. WOW!, I those babies make me feel inferior. I'm going to my room now and pout.
  23. I added MONSTERS HTPS 7000 to my system, and yes I think I can tell a noticable improvment. The video imaging is definitly cleaner, however, I also upgraded my old S-video transimssion line of one of better quality. In other words, could have been the connection. But I don't think so. To late to test the old one since I tossed it. Oh, well, there you have it, my not so convincing opinion.
  24. All of ya'll (that the plural version of ya'll, in Texas) shut up...... For christ sake, bury this thread!! The 3 of you boys are grounded, no more Klipsch Forum for a week. Then, before your allowed to come back, you have to give each other a hug.
