  1. An off topic note: John I have been staring at your new avatar. Love it! Imagine that valve train at the 22000 RPS of a modern F1 powerplant. Carry on.{]
  2. I just got back from my first visit to an IKEA up near Boston. Dmitry, my wife and I went up to get some record storage. It was not what I expected. I expected to be going to an Office Depot for mod furnature. Instead, it was more like a Cabella's without the dead animals. My wife didn't like the $179 shelf so we both bought one with real wood shelves for $90 more. We build Dmitry's tomorrow. I have some serious rearranging to do before I can assemble mine. Now if I can just remember the alphabet??? Rick
  3. That looks like the remnants of an original Klipsch label on the back of the bass bin. Perhaps a former owner made them into two part Scalas like the Scala IIs?
  4. Is the glass half full or half empty? That is the queation. If I pour the contents into that smaller glass there, it will definately be full. But, if I use a larger glass, it will be less than half. Wait! I have an idea. Let's have a toast to PWK. Skoal!!! Good questions Ben. Rick
  5. Consumer Reports rated the Firestone 500 "may pop" tire the "best buy" in the '70s. My wife drove a Pinto with Firestone 500 tires. It didn't work. Rick
  6. Steve, I'm sure your mother is proud to have such a fine son. Prayers sent. My mother had a similiar problem and resection in her seventies and, dispite diabetes, went on with an active life for over ten more years. Rick
  7. Dean, Is that where you attach the speaker jumper cables? Indy, Tsk,tsk. We need pictures, we can't read! Oh yeah, Cut measurements and complete directions that we can refer to when we screw up. Rick
  8. If you want to take the twins to bed, Tony Bennett, "If I Ruled the World, Songs for the Jet Set". If you want to send the twins off to bed and be alone, Jimmy Collier and Rev. Frederick Douglas Kirkpatrick, "Everybody's Got a Right to Live" (looks like 1968 political speeches and poetry). Your choice.[] Rick
  9. That's right. Break a leg there Michael! When do you get your: ? Rick []
  10. That's right. Break a leg there Michael! When do you get your: ? Rick
  11. A couple of casual observations: 0.2uF will pass the entire audio band. In fact, capacitors half this value are frequently used in interstage coupling applications in amplifiers; 80" is a short length for a speaker wire.
  12. "Spectacular TV quality! I can see nose hairs again. I'm on a roll. Wooo!"
  13. Phil, CP1 kinda hit it on the head. Belles can be likened to female LaScallas. The more comely and sexier of the human species. The smaller squaker horn can be descerned. Either is the outlaw sibling when compared to the Khorn. If there is a way to use Khorns in your room do so. The overall package is that much better. Especially with some tricks. [] Lacking that, Cornwalls hit a deeper note for your heavy metal listening. Sounds like you've got a great room in the making! Rick
  14. I found I did not like my tube power amps run through a variety of conditioners or isolation transformers. They seemed to loose some of their dynamics. This goes for even the low power SET. Now I run the Blueberry and my CDP through a constant voltage filter and the amps and TT in a plain power strip.Knowing Craig, I'm sure he puts a line noise filtering cap or two un his VRDs. For ground loop elimination, the strip connected to the power amps ground is lifted with a cheater plug. That way everything is grounded through the Blueberry's chassis.
  15. CP1, Just your luck. Three beautiful women fall in love with you, and they are all married. Great pictures!!! Rick
  16. silverfox, I've been thinking about this since last night. I don't know if it is a good idea to use that heavy wire for interconnects. I would worry about the capacitance and inductive losses in such a cable. I feel it would be far better to obtain some high quality two wire, shielded, low level 22ga microphone cable or, alternatively, good coax with a multistrand center conductor. Either of these would be less inclined to roll off the highs IMO. Rick
  17. Yeah! Why not? We used them for ammo at the movies when we were kids.
  18. Yea, .... I hear yea. It's probably a chilly 90 deg. back home where I grew up. People come from there? I thought just sinners went there when they died.[6]
  19. If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken much better care of myself when I was young. Rick
  20. I knew I could get the subject matter changed on this one LOL !!!!! Thanks Rick lets talk guns. Cheers Craig PS I wrote you a darn 3 paragraph reply PM late last night about the amp discussion we were having and the darn forum crashed while I was writing it man was I mad. I hate it when that happens. If you notice, I tried to keep this about audio.[]
  21. Shoot! Got beat by a dollar again. Darn snipers.[] At least I'm still in the running for the Budda in the banana bread.[] Rick
  22. Do clay pigeons at 700 yards count? With a bow, the 5 ring is about 5" on the 80 yard butt. How big is a parrot?
