  1. Keb Mo - Big Wide Grin Blues-heavy on the slide guitar Really happy music with uplifting lyrics and decent groves. Try it, you'll like it! Woo
  2. Well, Since I'm driving down there, and since a pair of Cornwalls will fit in my little station wagon, and since I have 4 of em.... I could bring a pair down. I'm thinking my 1976 pair with its 30 year old stock crossovers. Perhaps Bob Crites or Dean could bring a refurbished set of B's to the gathering to listen to the difference in a crossover upgrade? wink wink, nudge nudge, etc. I could bring my pair of 15" Tannoy Monitor Golds (if other folks were bringing Cornwalls or RF-7's or ??? Klipsch), but that would seem like a bad thing at a Klipsch gathering. Woo

I know of no other product whose devotees approach with such fervor (well, possibly beer). ............................. Finally, while a trip to Hope is always nifty, it is the names I know so well from the list that are planning to attend that has my blood pumping. Can't wait to put faces to all this fertilizer we've churned out over the years. Dave ---------------- Amen to that! Btw, you had better bring some of your projects to listen to! I am definitely interested in the work you do. Woo

I had never heard Keb Mo, but man oh man... really good stuff. Thanks for sharing. Woo
  7. I understand Ben! At night I turn off the window A/C, the computer and the bathroom flourescent light (ballast buzz) because the *slightest* noise annoys me. I have a floor furnace that produces NO NOISE in the winter! I like the quiet when listening to music. Woo

It could be that the sensor relay and/or the guage is faulty and not behaving properly. just a thought, Woo
  9. IAmtnbikr, I have a few friends from my cycling club that are riding in the RAGBRAI. Are you doing that ride? just curious, Woo

I have mostly given up sitting in front of the computer in favor of getting in better shape... ---------------- Hello TPG, and congrats on choosing cycling as part of your exercise routine. It was part of my diet/exercise change that caused me to shed 100 pounds a year ago. Plus, bicycling is something that you can do for your whole life! I'm so crazy about cycling that I passed on the Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis so I could ride my bicycle around in 92 degree heat. Call me nuts. You'll get used to the pedals, so don't sweat it. What part of KY are you in? I'm in Bowling Green and ride with a cycling club here 3 - 4 times a week. We do ~30 mile rides in the early evenings during the week and 60+ mile rides on the weekends. You can certainly find a group near you that matches your skill level. I know NOTHING about BMW's. Woo
  11. Yeah! Thanks for filling in the rest, Gary. That song is summer for me. Woo
  12. It was the summer of 1977, I was 19 and going to see my first real rock & roll show, the Grateful Dead (5/18/77)in Atlanta, GA at the Fabulous Fox Theater with four of my best friends. It was a hot hot day, and my car had broken down on I-20 near Crawfordville, GA. The four of us got out album covers and held them up on the highway, and we were picked up by a fellow concert goer and dropped off right at the venue with an hour to spare. That night the band ended their first set that night with 'Music Never Stopped' "There's mosquitos on the river Fish are rising up like birds It's been hot for several weeks now too hot to even speak now Did you hear what I just heard? Well it might have been the river Or it could have been the wind But there seems to be a beat now I can feel it in my feet now Listen there it goes again!" Woo
  13. I may be wrong (a common occurance), but it seems to me that if you place them 25 feet apart, you will be sitting about half a foot in front of the sweet spot if your back is against the 12' wall. check out this thread: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=59536&forumID=68&catID=19&search=1&searchstring=&sessionID={2587FE8A-A144-4B76-A51C-B4555BAC03EF} or if that doesn't work, go to the (sometimes working) search function and type in 'khorns on the long wall' in that thread you'll find a post by steve that explains the optimal placement and room requirements. best of luck, Woo
  14. David, I'm glad you finally decided to tell! I've been biting my lip keeping the secret. If these folks say it'll fit into your Honda, It'll fit in your Honda! Looking forward to hearing them, are ya? Forrest
  15. Looks like adding a kick plate (correct term?) to the bottom would effectively hide the water damage. But if you can get 'em, do it! You will probably have the type AA's in them. Good luck! Woo

It's no wonder they have the slogan "Just say no!" ---------------- It was meant to read, 'Just say know!', but the proofreaders were stoned. Sort of like that mistake in the bible, where the word celebrate was incorrectly translated. Oops! I heard the Xtreme at the Klipsch pilgramage, and it was outstanding! When I first heard a Peach at Mark1101's home back in the spring, I was startled at the clarity. I was thinking that I would miss tone controls (and in particular, a loudness contour), but that wasn't the case. It just disappears and becomes very unobtrusive. It doesn't call attention to itself, which I think is its best quality. Woo
  17. lmao, yeah, it's cost me a fortune too, but what amazing sound to enjoy. Seriously, it was like I was going through audio half awake. groovin' on Bela Fleck while I write this. Woo
  18. Wow, I just realized I've been a member here for two years, some 672 posts, and still haven't said anything of substance. I have gotten tubes, lots of Klipsch speakers, crossovers and some cool tunes, though. to think that when I first started lurking here I only had a pair of newly acquired Heresys. Is it a bad thing that I'm satisfied and don't really want to get another amp? Except that Merlin... now that looks like it would fit my budget and sound good too, and provide a front end for the Scott 208... sell the 355, recoup most of the money... this place is bad for me. lol! Woo
  19. I feel like an outsider looking in on a sociological experiment, but they are fun reads. Men like to quantify everything, living in the world of ohms and amps and cables and resistance. Women live in the world of 'oh that sounds nice'. Same world, different outlook. Woo
  20. It hurts, I know, but be honorable in all things. Honor the add. Woo
  21. Cooks Beer. Premium beer! (said so right on the can) It was the official beer of the Ragged Edge Band. Woo

  23. I'd be interested in your observations after listening to the 299C for a while and then switching back to the 299B. I'm wondering if what is perceived as 'better' is in reality just sonically different and novel while being equal in quality (see 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' for a full explanation of 'quality'). Maybe its similar to two differing flavors from the same ice cream company - especially when comparing two flavors of sound, the EL84 vs the 7591 output tubes. I certainly like both, but the 299B has the big ole horns for now and I'm really happy. Woo
  24. BS, I've heard a Juicy Music Peach and Blueberry and an Extreme. If the Merlin is anywhere NEAR the quality of its bigger brothers and sisters it is an excellent choice. Mdeenen is the creator/owner of Juicy Music. I'm glad to see that you are considering tubes. Those cornwalls will sing with them. Forrest

    Fantastic 4

---------------- On 7/14/2005 6:30:33 PM nicholtl wrote: Are you sure you weren't in my Screenwriting 101 class? You sure know the classical Hollywood structure. ---------------- nah, just old. I'm interested in structure, whether it be music, film, architecture, literature. You know, the *THING* that holds a creation together and provides interest, makes it work. Those elements have always intrigued me. Then, with much more clever films (unlike Fantastic 4) the use of cinematic quotes and symbols, lighting, music, camera angles and movement to provide a sophisticated draw into the world they are trying to create. My son and I like to play a game while watching commercials on TV. What are they selling, how are they selling it, and to whom is the commercial directed? Is it an SUV they are selling? Or is it really escape from the life you have erected about you? etc. but, mostly, I'm just old. I've seen most of it again and again and again and again and again. Woo
