But once you start expecting an ounce of intelligence from this flick, well...you can do the math. ---------------- Nick just wrote the best review of the flick so far. I went with my 14 year old son. It was ok, entertaining but far from truly interesting. The torch was really hunky and the invisible woman was really curvy. The protagonist/antagonist relationships were quickly and predictably established, romantic interests/conflicts went through formulaic developments, and the denouement was a bit ho hum, complete with a set-up for sequels. Still, it was fun and a rare excuse to overdose on buttered movie theater popcorn for this low-fat guy. Woo

  5. THEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING EXAM 1 5 Questions, 60 Minutes. You may use a calculator, the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, and the Book of Mormon. The speed of light is c. Show all work. For all problems, assume a perfectly spherical Jesus of constant density D. No praying during the exam. 1. (20 pts.) Bob and Joe are standing on a street corner. God loves each an equal amount L_0. Bob then accelerates to .9c. In Joe's rest frame, how much does God now love Bob? 2. Sven, a Catholic, is in a state of grace. He then has sex with sheep S. a. (8 pts.) What is Sven's atonement coefficient following the act if the sheep was not willing? b. (12 pts.) What if the sheep, while not technically willing, could not be said to mind either? 3. (20 pts.) Let the eternal, all abiding love of the Holy Spirit be the xy plane. Let Sue's soul be at (0,0,5) at t = 0 sec., traveling at 5 m/s in the direction of the positive z axis. Everything is in Cartesian coordinates bespeaking subscription to a perfectly rational Enlightenment attitude towards the Universe. At what time t will Sue be saved? (Hint: Assume a point soul.) 4. (20 pts.) Assume the Rapture occurs at time t. Cornelia, a saved human weighing 90 kg, in a state of grace, has her head in the closing jaws of an alligator at time t. What mass of meat will remain to the alligator at time t + 10 sec.? 5. Stan is a frictionless, massless Mormon in a rest state. His sin level for his faith is currently 11 McBeals. He eats .3 kg of pork, and enjoys it very much. Assume that the Jews are right about, well, pretty much, everything. (10 pts.) What is Stan's sin level now? (10 pts) Assume Stan is a Morman residing in Salt Lake City. What is his current level of smugness? Extra Credit (10 pts): 25 grams of wafers and 20 ml of cheap wine undergo transubstantiation and become the flesh and blood of our Lord. How many Joules of heat are released by the transformation? Hand in exam when done, and may God have mercy on your work.

I’ve been in contact with two other forum members that seem to think the latter part of September would be good. With any luck we will have: 1. A meeting place in a secluded area for playing music to all hours of the night. (all gear and speakers welcome) 2. We would see PWK’s museum in downtown Hope. (most likely with Miss Valerie) 3. Audio museum near the Klipsch factory. There may be other surprises to come, but there are no guarantees. OK… so who’s in? Tony ---------------- The latter part of September works for me. 7. Patience, my friend. Wait for the cornerhorns. You won't be sorry. Woo
  8. 1 or 2 hours. In the winter months more since bicycle riding season will be over. Too many hours spent outside on the rural roads of Kentucky these days. Plus, in the wintertime I don't have to deal with the sound of a room air conditioner. Last night was gentle rain and breezy coolness. I put on a recommendation by synthfreak, Structures from Silence (Steve Roach) and turned it up just loud enough so that rain sounded as if it were part of the music. good stuff Woo (lucky dog)

The graining on the front is unique, I have a pair of '88 Oak Oils and the graining on mine is very different but nice none the less. I would easily pay close to $3K for the newer ones, they have the K-401K composite horns and the AK-3 is a desireable network. I know, decisions, decisions ---------------- with your budget, you can be both picky and patient. The newer ones will fetch the extra $$, the older, reworked '76 models don't grab me for some reason. however, both pairs will sound glorious (if the reworking of the '76s is done well). when I got my pair, I was disappointed that they didn't have the spacer between the bass bin and upper section. Funny how the sound makes you overlook physical flaws. also, remember that a one day road trip to wherever to pick them up is nothing in comparison to the 30+ years of enjoyment you'll get out of them. patience, Forrest

  12. Been listening to Holst: The Planets. London CD by Orchestre symphonique de Montreal, conductor Charles Dutoit. I have had this CD for years, but had not listened to it for a few years. I didn't even listen to it when I had my Cornwalls in the house. Put it on today and OHMYGAWD. It shows off the Khorns really well. The other CD I listened to today was Dream Theater "Octavarium". Prog Rock and VERY well done. I'm a lucky dog. Woo
  13. Oh, he has the corners! Khorns in his home would be a good thing! Woo
  14. David, We'll have you some speakers before long, and I'll even help you move them! With a $$ range like that to work with, you can probably be pretty picky about the veneers and vintage. I'm partial to 1976 vintage myself. If you get a pair of '76ers I'll teach you the secret handshake! Later, Forrest (aka woodog) btw, this is the crazy group of folks who have taught (and continue to teach) me about Klipsch and hi-fi in general. be careful though, they're really really good at spending other people's money! LOL!
  15. get this... David just posted under the name Musiclover. LOL! If you're reading this, howdy David. This is the group that taught me about these fantastic line of speakers! Woo (aka Forrest)
  16. Hi guys and gals, I have to share this story. Sunday afternoon my Klipschorns proved to be a good ice-breaker and facilitator for me and some of my sons relatives on his mothers side. My sons great aunts family, Jane, her husband David, and their son, John David, came to visit. We have so many differences between us from religious to political to socio-economic (they are well-to-do, me not so much), but there IS one commonality David is crazy about sound systems. Jane (the wife) thinks it is all a big waste. When David heard that I had Cornwalls a year or so ago, he kept saying that he wanted to hear them and that the Klipschorn was his dream speaker system. When I got my STEAL of a deal on Klipschorns, David was envious. He had never heard them before and he really wanted to check them out. AND he really wants to get a pair for himself. David has a Dynaco ST70 and Ive been trying to get him to let me use it to listen to with my Scott 355. Hes not been receptive to that idea yet. On Friday I had taken Gavin (my son) to visit with them (John David is Gavins age) and David told me he would be glad to bring him back on Sunday (an unusual occurance). I didnt think anything of it, but Gavin gave a call on Sunday, a couple of hours before returning, and told me that David would like to hear the speakers (adding, and knowing you, youll want to show them off!) Oh yeah! Cleaned up the house, cranked up the room AC (so I could turn it off when they got here) and picked out tunes to play. David came in, followed by Jane, who had her arms crossed in body language that said, I dont want to be here. When she saw the speakers she said, Is this them? Theyre huge theres no way we have room for these. This is a laughable statement.. my apartment is about 650 square feet, their home is nearly 3000 square feet. Me: but look how they disappear into the corners and you know, you can get these in the most exquisite veneers. And honestly, if David were to get some of these, he would probably get rid of his other speakers; think of how much room that would free up. Jane: Whatever (she rolls her eyes) I direct David to the sweet spot, and she sits in a chair a bit off to the right. I put on Paul Winters Prayer for the Wild Things.. track 8, Moose Walk. This has excellent percussion with a bass clarinet and a contra-bassoon echoing each other in a call-and-response fashion. The track ends with a ~32hz Db note and continues into track 9 with bird sounds that seem to hover in the middle of the room. Jane talked incessantly throughout the entire thing and sat between David and one of the speakers, spoiling the imaging. Me: Jane, you should sit in the sweet spot. Jane: Oh, they sound just fine right here whats so special about that chair? Theyre not going to sound any different. Youre just like David, hes always so particular about where his chair is. Me: Jane, aw come on, let me show off to you. Please. I dont have that many nice things, but this particular thing I do have is REALLY nice. Sit. And shush please. Just listen. I put on Ricky Lee Jones Pop! Pop! track 6, Dat Dere. Starts off with a plucky nylon string guitar, thick bass, sax, and childrens voices that leap out at you from the center of the image. Jane literally jumps and lets out a little yelp of surprise. Me: told ya! ( I wink and smile) Jane motions for her son, John David, to sit in the sweet spot and tells me to start the track over again. She says that sounds just like you when you were little (talking about the childs voice on the recording). John David's face lights up and he says, wow. Then she makes him move so she can sit there for the whole thing. After David asks for the sweet spot back, Jane sits close to him so she can still enjoy the imaging. Im loving it. Jane says to David, Youve got church tonight, but I think youre in heaven right now. David: Not exactly, but close. They stay another hour or so, and the room was getting warm since the AC was shut off for quiet. We listened to various cuts from Norah Jones to Jimi Hendrix (Davids CD.. I was SHOCKED!) to Durufle to Eagles. And they are quiet and listening, talking only between cuts. When they were leaving Jane said to me you say you can get them in different veneers? Jane says to David: Where would you put that old Wurlitzer? (David has a vintage Wurlitzer - awesome looking!). David: Id find some place for it I wouldnt get rid of it its too cool. As they are walking out David mouths a silent thank you while shaking my hand bye bye. I dont know if the thaw will last, but for that day at least there was a shift in the climate. All in all a good day. Woo

  18. I've got a 355/208 combo... the 208 is the 7591 based power supply in the 299C. Very smooth sound. There is no contest. The Scott will best the H/K in every way except $$'s spent. If you go this route you won't regret it. Woo

  20. heh.. I'm already back in lovely Bowling Green, KY. Had fun in your city, yes indeedy. However, Saturday evening when the sun was getting low... I found myself on my bicycle on East 10th street looking for the Monon Trail. I've been in safer places. Woo
  21. I chose B. Speaker A seemed unnaturally wide and diffuse sounding, almost as if altered with electronic effects. Speaker B, to my ears, was cleaner with more space around the music. Woo
  22. So, three notes walk into a bar -- a G, an Eb, and a C. The bartender looks up and says "We don't serve minors." So the Eb leaves and the other two have a fifth between them. After a few drinks, the G was out flat, and the experience was diminished. Eventually, the C sobers up, sees one of his friends missing, the other one passed out, and realizes to his horror that he's under a rest. C was brought to trial, found guilty and convicted of contributing to the diminution of a minor and was sentenced to 10 years of DS without Coda at the Paul Williams/Neil Sedaka Correctional Facility.
