  1. What if the bug only shows up on high quality monitors the way source garbage is exposed by our horns? Could be why some see it and some don't.
  2. I am about 4 hours from Dallas. I am on I-20 about half way across Louisiana.
  3. I was in Greenville for Thanksgiving and sent the guy a note that I would like to see them. He was at his daughters and didn't call me until the day after. I was skeptical when I saw that he hadn't ever sold anything on Ebay before but after talking to him, I would buy these myself If I had the money and another corner in my den. I live in Ruston La, right on I-20. That and the fact that I would love to hear a set on my Scott is why I offered to pick them up, check them out, and store them until the buyer could come get them. For the last couple of weeks, they have been stored in a garage or storage shed. BTW, the letter in the number is an L, 1973's.
  4. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060465933&category=14993&rd=1 I talked to the owner the day after thanksgiving. Sounds like a doctor or lawyer on the phone. Very professional. He is the second owner of the horns. The original owner picked them up at the factory. He isn't able to listen to them like he wants to and wanted someone who would enjoy them to get them. He has never sold anything on Ebay because he is uneasy about giving out his life history to someone on the net. He is 57 years old. He says all the horns work perfectly. He has been into Audio since back in the 60's and knows what he has and what it can do. If you bid and get these, I am only about 2.5 hours from him and would be glad to pick them up and Store them in my house (for a little auditioning) or my climate controlled storage building until you can come pick them up.I have never heard horns and can't believe they can sound much better than my Lascala's. Good luck bidding and tell him I sent you. If I had the money and one more corner, they would be mine.
  5. Not me. I like it all as long as the last thing to touch it is a Klipsch. PS. In my previous post, I wanted to correct my statement. Bigger is not actually correct, but thicker? That's what they like.
  6. Amount of Vinyl used to make it. Bigger is better, if you ask the right person.
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060966663 Looks clean. If I wanted a divorce, I would buy it now.
  8. I asked 1 minute earlier, I get first dibs.
  9. Mfg in 1964. How much are you asking for them?
  10. Went to Sam Goody a couple of weeks ago and picked up a "A Perfect Circle" CD. When I got home, my son took one look and said "These guys used to be "Tool", cool." Haven't seen the CD since.
  11. Thank you very much! I was just about to announce how happy I WAS with my Lascala's and you had to go and mess with my head. And there is a pair of Horns that just came up on Ebay, and I am only about 2.5 hours away from them. Thanks again!
  12. To add to what has been said about the year of production, the 13 is the week of production. Unless I am mistaken, the last three digits are the numbers for how many were made that year. Man, 40 something a week? I guess they were rolling them out back then. update. Went back and looked. The guide to serial numbers for this year only tells the year. The week and production number were all in my head. Other years had numbering about like I thought these had. Here is a link to the serial number guide. http://www.progressive-engineering.com/klipsch/klipsch_date_codes.htm
  13. Here is a Scott 299 that someone on the list might know something about. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3058696483&category=3280
  14. Beer drinker, the only time I have won the bid on Ebay, I bid with only about 10 to 15 seconds left. I am on a cable modem so it doesn't take long to get it out and back. Phone would be a little slower but I wouldn't think more than 15 or 20 seconds.
  15. The things you learn just hangin out with the right crowd. Considering what I paid for membership dues, I am getting my moneys worth!
  16. http://www.hifilit.com/hifilit/Klipsch/1953f.jpg Thought I should point out to who ever got the older horns this week (someone from AZ) needs to look at this picture from a 1953 sales brochure. The tweet is horizontal and if I remember, the one on your pair was vertical. Sure would make them sound better if they were just as in the picture.
  17. I would be interested in the top half. Should make a great center channel. I would rather have the whole thing, but the wife would notice it if I tried to sneak it in. Not as easy as the scott tuner I snuck in. :-)
  18. I said, "I would think it would be great to see you two talk to each other rather than about each other." Dean said,"Oh gosh that's funny. He thinks I'm Jazzman." Sorry Dean, I was actually thinking of Ryan. As further proof of my confusion, I was about to fuss at you for not cleaning up the 299 I bought from you but after checking, It was Chad Miller I got it from. Must be "oldstimers" setting in.
  19. Not an expert here but my son has a 1100 watt amp on a 10 inch sub. It does about 147db's at the dash and the box is at the other end of an Xterra. The abuse these subs go through requires that the cones be rigid and heavy and the surrounds thicker and less flexible than most car tire sidewalls or something is gonna tear. Takes a lot of power to get all that moving. Just my guess.
  20. I would think it would be great to see you two talk to each other than about each other. It is also a service that I would take advantage of the next time my amp needed service.
  21. I am thinking that you need to raise the L and R up to center the mids and tweets with the center of the screen. The new horiz cornwall should be on top with the mid and tweet horizontal and centered over the screen but sloped down(tilted forward) to hit the sweet spot between your eyes when seated on the couch.
  22. Another vote for a "4 Sale Forum". I bought a Scott amp from a forum member and HAD TO BUY A SET OF LASCALA'S to listen to. A "4 Sale Forum" could be good for $$$$$$$$$$Klipsch sales$$$$$$$$$$$
  23. After seeing the before pictures, I was glad you got them before me. Now after seeing the after pictures, I am mourning my loss. They look great. Congrats. I will have to be happy with my Lascala's for now, at least until a Horn deal comes along that I just can't pass up.
  24. I have bought more CDs since I started downloading Mp3's. I wouldn't buy a CD before because I didn't want to take a chance on the only song fit to listen to was the one I bought it for. I can now listen to more of the disc and if it has more than one song I like, I don't mind buying it. I guess that in a nutshell, I use downloaded MP3's as samplers and buy the real stuff.
