  1. The Meters and the Wild Tchoupitoulas are two of my favorites. I have a group of Happy Hour friends into music as well. Well we went to our favorite happy hour joint before a Buckwheat show at a very intimate venue here in Pittsburgh, Rosebud if anyone know it. It's no longer here, unfortunately. So we were a little tuned up before the show and made it to the front of the stage. So here I am kind of rocking back and forth about five feet away from him. He stops the show for a minute to ask my why are my feet moving so slow. I still hear about it today. I saw him recently, he still performs, but only fronts a few songs, at his age I'm surprised any actually. Still one of my favorite live performances.
  2. He helped me with my 16 ohm tweeters and crossovers. He also convinced me to keep the original crossovers and made a modern version of the originals for an exceptionally reasonable cost. I'm glad he did. He is a great guy.
  3. Those were the first Klipsch speakers that I bought. I got them for around 400 as well. That was over ten years ago and it's what brought me to this forum. I now have had and still do have every heritage model, except Belles. Those are great speakers, good luck.
  4. I'm not on as much as I use to be, so I'm late to the party. Good luck Amy, wherever the wind of fortune takes you.
  5. I'll check my 54 tomorrow, I'm almost sure it's the 103lx, since they are 16 Ohm.
  6. I have a a 54 and 56 Khorn. I run them running with two MC250's in mono. They sound great. What finish do you have on yours, Mine is Prima Vera Lacquer.
  7. The lady I bought my 50's Khorns from included that brochure with the purchase. Great reading. Also if you do a search I loaded the 1954 and 1956 brochure on here a while back.
  8. I still check in a few times a week. Time to change my avatar after last night.
  9. I wonder if Max G is still a visitor here? He lived in Athens, if I'm not mistaken. He belonged to this very interesting audio club there. Try to pm him.
  10. I will add some photos today.
  11. Sorry guys, your are right, I was looking for 500 dollars. No, I bought it from Tom Mobley. I guess I could look back and see but I'm guessing right about 500 then.
  12. I have a Scott 222C that I am thinking of selling. It was purchased from a fellow forum member several years ago and has been only used occasionally in the last few years. I also have the a wooden cabinet for it, the one made by a forum member that fits over the top and has the adjustable feet. Does anyone have any interest? I am in the Pittsburgh PA area and would really like to keep it local. If anyone is interested I can send pictures. Thanks Tom
  13. He lives about 5 miles from me. I've had several people pm me about trying to get their stuff back from him. I should go over to his house and see how sick he is. He quit answering my emails a while back.
  14. I guess I wasn't really interested in building anything, just improving what I have, like so many of us do on here to our speakers. Some even upgrade amps. Technically, since Juicy Music isn't in business anymore, it's really not promoting a product. I am very curious to know, in layman's terms, how I could improve the sonics of my tercel/peach combo, not that it doesn't sound great already. I have a couple thousand in tubes and have seen differences between them. I am guessing there will be a difference in capacitors. I am going to use the search function on here to aid my search. Getting the audio bug again after being very content with my system since I added Khorns a few years ago. It's really not about getting something done on the cheap, it's about the satisfaction of improving something on my own, without having to pay someone to do it for me. Just my few cents. Again, this is about me upgrading my equipment, not comparing it to other manufacturers stuff.
  15. Thanks, I am actually learning a lot from this thread.
  16. I bet I have more money tied up in tubes than in the two preamps. I have Mullards in the Tercel, and I'm running the two stock tubes with a Siemen'sCCA in the Peach. I have tried Phillips SQ and PQ E188CC's, Siemens E188cc's, Mullard CV2493, Mullard CV2492, and Mazda E188cc. I found a guy in Holland and he hooked me up. What cable would you recommend Mark? Yes, I am reading this. Also what caps would you recommend? My amps are 2 MC250's refreshed and running in mono through my 54 and 56 Khorns. I'll be in Northern California over labor day weekend if you have any left over for sale.
  17. I'm just waiting to see if this one thread has more replies than posts I've had in ten years. I am very interested in the differences between the two preamps as well. I have the Peach and Tercel, which it seems, is what the Blueberry is in one unit. I also want to thank Amy for not closing it.
  18. I lurk on the BS forum and since a bunch of regulars are on this thread can someone tell me why everyone was deleting their posts?
  19. As an aside, I just want to say that I do own a Peach and Tercel, and must say that they are great pieces of equipment. I didn't find anything offensive in the other thread, except that guy who kept posting idiotic pictures, with absolutely nothing to add to the conversation. I find debate, without personal attacks, very informative myself. Anyway. I have an average of 70 posts a year so I try read more than post.
  20. It's still not like the old battles between Craig and Ryan Inman, or actually Craig and Mark before, when he started out.
  21. I can still move freely in my man cave so I'm safe. I have the original crossovers, and the university in the box my tercel was shipped in. they fit perfectly. I still say that was the best audio purchase I've made.
