  1. Joe & Co (I kinda like that!), Congrats on the newest member of the family! LOL, I can just imagine the conversation the two of you must have had after she found out hahaha! That's awesome! Glad everything has stayed in remission for you cause you look a lot better with hair! [] I may be your way again in a month or so. If I am I'll buy you a congratulatory lunch (and maybe a few cd's to boot).
  2. *GASP* I thought ALL the ladies love John Wayne!!!
  3. Indy-Here's a link to a review of the Integra DTC 9.8 where the reviewer owns the Anthem D2. Interesting... http://hometheatermag.com/preampprocessors/508integra/ Note: The D2 owned by the reviewer does not have the ARC upgrade.
  4. My first memory of Tim was an informal debate-style show that he and Chris Matthews did together. This would have been circa 1992-1994.
  5. Prayers and best wishes to his family and loved ones. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/obit_russert
  6. A friend of mine owns the D2 and just upgraded it with the ARC. Said it made a HUGE impact on the sound, specifically the separation/imaging on the front end. I heard it briefly a few weeks back at our audio shop in town both with and without the ARC (it is switchable). The ARC had a tremendous impact on the sound in that room. I was impressed and heard much the same as my friend. The soundstage (in the entire room, but most noticeably up front) seemed to just open up and widen greatly. Incredible difference, IMO.
  7. I right-clicked on my profile (after highlighting it) and pasted it here. Seems to work okay. 8. Stopped by our Klipsch dealer today to pick up some speaker wire terminations and came across this. Couple of little cuties on it, too (mine)!
  9. Combo-both my home theater and 2-channel listening are done with a 7.1 configuration. []
  10. Thanks for posting this. It's difficult to even begin to comprehend the sheer terror that those first on the beach must have felt. Thanks to all of our veterans and current servicemen for protecting my liberty.
  11. I don't know of another sport that provides the "heart-stopping" action that hockey does. Heck, I dunno why they even call it "heart-stopping" as mine was about to blow out the wall of my chest several times during the playoffs this year. I was flipping back-n-forth between the Wings and the Pistons and just didn't get the same rush of adrenaline from basketball that I do from hockey. Maybe it's just me but when you have a sport that combines such generally low scoring matches and combine it with a relatively high number of quality scoring chances, it's pretty darn exciting and keeps you nailed to your seat. What an awesome sport! Congrats to the Wings for a great year and nearly perfect ending to the season! My hat is off to the Penguins and their fanatical fans as they provided the Wings with a worthy opponent and a steadfast crowd. That will be a team to reckon with for years to come as long as they hold onto their goalie.
  12. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! That ranks right up there with one of the most exciting final games in a series that I have ever witnessed! What an absolutely incredible finish! Hats off to the Pens for an exceptional series and almost taking this final game into OT! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thinking about taking my oldest to the parade!
  13. Let's go Wings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For OT [6]:
  14. Picked up two pair of the etymotic ear plugs just before seeing Van Halen here in MI. They worked very well as they seemed to tame the highs a little bit and reduced the overall volume to a more tolerable level. I wear them when mowing the lawn too but they don't seem to cut down the lower frequencies of the engine as much.
  15. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll look for this the next time I'm at BB or CC.
  16. I don't think the NHL instituted the rule against leaving your feet because of potential injury on an open-ice type of hit. This, to my knowledge, has never been a problem in the NHL. I believe that this rule was instituted when players like Jeremy Roenick would get a head of steam from center ice and really nail someone who is at the end of the rink, near the corners. They used to jump just before hitting the player which resulted in a larger number of injuries, especially head injuries. However, since the rule is in the book, it is also enforced for hits that take place all over the ice. I may be way off with my take on this but I just don't see a lot of risk from a player leaving his feet in the process of making an open-ice hit. If the other player sees him coming he really only needs to duck. If he doesn't see him coming he's kinda hosed either way.
  17. Glenn: I agree and am wondering whether Kronwall is feeling a bit skittish as well (that was the other item that the Pens coach complained about after game two). It has been interesting to see the Wings playing one style throughout the playoffs and watching them try to adjust to a moderated version of themselves for the Finals.
  18. What a game for sure!! That was some of the most exciting, on the edge of your seat hockey games I've seen in quite some time! An emotional game for sure! Both teams played very well last night (and this morning) and gave it everything they had. The crowd at the Joe was into the game from the drop of the first puck, cheering with a gusto previously unheard in this series. The volume of their cheers seemed to crescendo in the waning minutes of the third as the Wings led by a single goal and they anticipated the awarding of the Cup, the greatest trophy in all of sports. The Cup was removed from its case and was getting a final polish as the game seemed to be in hand. The fans were chanting, "We want the Cup, we want the Cup, we want the Cup," and the roof was just about to be blown off the place from the sheer force of the fans cheering. Twas not to be, at least on that night, as the Pens scored the tying goal and took the Wings to overtime. What an absolute emotion-killer that was. Didn't the Pens know this was the Wings night??? Wow, what a letdown. The Wings players, however, continued to absolutely pepper the Pens goalie with shots throughout all three overtimes. Kudos to them for a valiant effort. I wonder how much the sheer frustration of this game will play into the Wings' minds as they prepare for the next game in the Igloo. They threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Pittsburgh net and only came away with three goals. That coupled with being only moments away from winning the series, the horrid officiating and the disappointment of this latest loss will likely have some impact on them in the game in Wednesday. The Pens, on the other hand, will arrive at the Igloo with a renewed level of energy and enthusiasm, as will the fans. A few things I've noticed over the past couple of games: 1) The Wings seemed to have moved away from the forward playing immediately in front of Fleury during the power-play. Neither Holmstrom nor Franzen has tried to stake a claim to that area just outside (mostly) the crease 2) Kronwall has not had a hit of note during the last couple of games and has seemed to be less noticeable. 3) The Pens defense has been doing a much better job of collapsing down low and cycling the puck 4) Fleury is the real-deal. This guy deserves to get the Conn-Smythe if the Pens are able to turn the series around. He's been stopping the shots that a goaltender should be expected to stop and even many of those that he is not expected to stop. I wonder if Babcock will make any player changes in game six. (If he does make a change I don't think it will be for poor performance).
  19. Another forum member, cigaraci, has tried using a pair of RC-7s in a 2-channel system and also had a pair of RB-75s at the same time. If memory serves, he preferred the RC-7s. The OP should contact Carl for his complete thoughts on this. I'm with Dean on this. I would think the RCs would have a much better overall sound. The RC-7 is quite a speaker. As a RB-5 lover (bedroom system) I find it an intersting thread but frustrating. As many on the forum can be.... WHY? is rarely explained. Colter makes 2 reasonable arguments. Design goals of a center channel speaker for movies would only make a good 2 channel speaker by accident. "I would think" that a pair of RC-7s would best a pair of RB-75s based upon my listening experience with both (limited with RB-75s) and Carl's actual experiment of comparing the two.

  21. Almost forgot: What did you think of the Wings non-goal in the third period? (When the net became dislodged). I haven't watched enough hockey in the last couple of years to remember how it is handled when a team intentionally knocks the net off its moorings (sp?) just before the opposing team scores. It seems to me that it would be the same ruling if a player on the defending team pushes another player into the net causing the same result, as long as his intentions are obvious? Can anyone clear this up for me?
  22. Great game last night! Now that's what I call a hockey game. Up and down the ice action with tons of chances. Anyone who watched the game last night was treated to something that doesn't happen very often when they went for several minutes without a stoppage of play. During that time the Wings were swarming the Pittsburgh net and must have had at least a half-dozen excellent scoring opportunities. Fleury was able to hold off the barrage of shots and the Pens prevailed. Saturday should prove to be just as exciting. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Welcome to the forum, D-Rock! Great to see another Klipsch fanatic joining the ranks.
