  1. I didn't mean to cause anyone pain/issues by posting those pics. Dr Meister has worked on my shoulder and knee, and I found the photos from each procedure really interesting. But if anyone thinks they're too graphic or not appropriate, let me know and I'll try and remove them... Can you delete/edit photos out of a post? Or does a moderator have to do that?
  2. I had mine done in 2009... It was a full thickness tear of the rotator cuff. My surgeon was Keith Meister (Texas Rangers team physician) and he videos the procedure and takes pictures (see attached). Unless it's a very minor tear, you can give up on going to work 3 days later... I was not allowed to drive for a week, but driving with the sling was no fun. I had to wear the sling/strap for 6 weeks. Rehab started about 10 days or so after surgery, and lasted for 8 weeks. Be prepared to pedal a seated bicycle type machine with your arms and do a lot of exercises/movements with rubber tubing. I didn't really feel back to "normal" until 3 months or so after surgery. I had to sleep in a recliner, with my arm strapped down, as they didn't want me to roll over in bed. YMMV, but I had to do this for the full 6 weeks that my arm was in the sling. You probably won't be able to use your arm "lightly" or at all (other than rehab) until you're out of the sling. Pain level... The first 2 weeks sucked (Vicodin was my friend). But after that it dropped off pretty rapidly once the rehab started to make a difference. Though it won't feel good for quite a while after that, particularly when your brain tries to move your arm while it's strapped down. Or you attempt to do something new during rehab that extends your range of motion.
  3. The 2.2 and 2.5 are essentially identical speakers... Dimensions, power handling, frequency response are the same. They both use the exact same tweeter. And though the woofers in the 2.5 have a different model number, my guess is they are so close as to be indistinguishable. And I can't tell the difference between the 2.2's and 2.5's that I have. The one real difference is the 2.2 uses a metal edged grill that fits in between the veneer and the front baffle... While the 2.5 has a plastic framed grill, with pegs, that fit in to rubber grommets on the front baffle. The KLF C7 is the match to the KLF 10/20/30 Legend series. It is a highly regarded center and will work (and it sounds great). But it will sound different compared to the KG's. You'd have to decide what works for you, and whether it's size/price is worth it. I've never heard a KV-3 so I can't really say. The difference between the KG 2.2V and the KG2. 2 is that it was video shielded so it could be used on or near the old tube TV's, without affecting the color. So unless you plan on putting it on top or near an old tube TV, any KG would work, with no ill effects on current LCD TV's. And yes you can lay the KG's over on their side with no problems. Here are some links to the speakers in question... Unfortunately their specs are no listed on the Klipsch website. https://web.archive.org/web/20111127152626/http://www.klipsch.com/kg-2-2 https://web.archive.org/web/20111127152631/http://www.klipsch.com/kg-2-5 https://web.archive.org/web/20111127041350/http://www.klipsch.com/klf-c7
  4. No affiliation... Another nice 5 channel setup... https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ele/5687817965.html
  5. I've never heard the new R14, but it's doubtful it would sound like the 20 year old KG series. Whether that difference matters or is apparent to you, in your room (as a surround)... Only you know? I've got a KG 2.5 & 1.5 setup in my back living room and either of those will be a better match to your KG4.5's. You didn't mention what center channel you have, but the KG2.5 would work really well in that regard. Personally I think the KG.5 is just too small and I'd use a KG1.5 (or larger) for the surrounds... Unless you're really limited to the small size/weight of the KG.5. Put a decent sub in with the KG's and cross it at 80Hz or higher and you'll have a nice setup capable of filling up a room.
  6. very nice pictures despite the sigma... That was the old 120-300mm f2.8... It was very sharp from f4 on up (mine was). And even then it was a LOT cheaper than any comparable Canon L fixed length 200mm or 300mm f2.8. Lots of people thought poorly of them, but it was an excellent lense. And when you consider the 1.6x focal length multiplier of the APS-C sized sensor in the 20D, it was effectively 480mm on the long end. The new Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 is even better, and much more expensive at $3K or so. But still about $3K less than a current Canon 300mm f2.8 fixed length telephoto. I managed to put together a decent set... Canon 17-40mm f4/L Canon 85mm F1.8 Canon 100mm macro Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 Wish I still had it all...
  7. Make sure you're looking at the desktop website and not the mobile version. On the mobile version the "cart" button is down a bit from the top, but not all the way to the bottom. The desktop version has the cart button at the top of the page (see attached screenshot) My guess is the sale is online at the Klipsch site only. Not sure why you'd want to buy anywhere else as Klipsch offers free shipping and a 30 day return policy.
  8. These were taken about 11 years ago... Canon 20D with a Sigma 120-300mm zoom (Gorilla - FTW Zoo) and Canon 100mm Macro (Ladybug & Flowers - Dallas Arboretum). These are low res crops taken from my Facebook page.
  9. That's what I was thinking... $200 a piece and I'd leave the Pioneer on someone's doorstep. If I had the money I would've already picked them up.
  10. No affiliation... Nice looking set of RF-7's in Cherry. https://dallas.craigslist.org/sdf/ele/5676500412.html
  11. Just a guess, though you could wire it up and probably make it work... I'd think that sending a single side surround signal/channel to two side speakers MAY cause phase/cancelation problems. And I'd wonder how you would run the Dirac setup, since the microphone would be "hearing" the same signal from two different places. Again, I'd think it MAY cause some weird EQ or phase issues. Since the XMC-1 is a 7.2 processor, why not use a pair of the RS42's as side surrounds and the other pair as rear surrounds?
  12. Wait on the third LaScala... The Belle is nice, but it has a different (smaller) midrange horn.
  13. Though a 2-way, they're not that far from the KLF-20. Both have dual 10" woofers and aside from the power handling they both dig down into the low 30Hz range. Having owned KLF-20's (and listened to the 10's) they don't have quite the midrange because of the high crossover point (2300 Hz). Definitely a nice speaker that will handle anything... with no real need for a sub unless you plan to use them mostly for movie watching. https://web.archive.org/web/20120101175029/http://www.klipsch.com/klf-10
  14. Yes, the Academy is the closest match to the Forte I and should do a better job compared to the KV3. The KLF-C7 is another center that would be an upgrade, but it is a closer match to the Forte II. I'm not familiar with the RS surrounds, so I can't tell you how they might match up with the Fortes. But if you want something that will keep up, then you'll probably want something bigger or more efficient. Personally, I'd just move the KG 5.5's to surround duty (if you have the room) and call it a day. I have some KG 2.5's and they would also do a great job as surrounds with the Forte's (just my opinion).
  15. No affiliation... The ad says "KSW-15" but the pictures (last two) show an RSW-15 with a cherry cabinet. Looks to be in pretty good condition. Great price. https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/ele/5637956758.html

  17. During a recent website update, most of the pages, "specs", etc, (for the discontinued models) were not retained, were lost or still haven't been updated... depending on who you believe. Unfortunately the only place to see that information now is a web archive page... https://web.archive.org/web/20120425015803/http://www.klipsch.com/rb-5-ii-bookshelf-speaker
  18. The new version with Evans and LeBlanc was okay, but it's just not the same without Clarkson, Hammond and May. I'll probably DVR it for the car reviews and the Stig laps but fast forward through the gimmicks. I can't stand and don't watch the American version.
  19. How about offering the Jubilee bass bin (and the other Cinema bass cabinets) as unfinished "Birch Raw" like the LaScala I... Personally, I think a pair of KPT-684's in a clear Birch Lacquer finish (to match my LaScalas) would merit some serious consideration.
  20. I'm another advocate (and owner) of the 3 front LaScala setup... Tough to beat that combination.
  21. I've owned Chorus II's and KLF20's (and listened to 30's)... My opinion: From about 40Hz on up the Chorus II is one of the smoothest most accurate speakers Klipsch has ever made. Very snappy, accurate bass and just great through the mids and high end. The KLF is going to dig down deeper (mid 30Hz) and is definitely "punchier" and will thump you pretty good with a nice amp. I think it sounds more forward than the Chorus mainly because the midrange and tweeter sit up higher. Both of these speakers crave good, solid high wattage amps. I ran my Chorus II's for a while with a McIntosh MC7270 (270 wpc) and loved the sound. My KLF20's were hooked up to an older Carver 6250 receiver that puts out nearly 150 wpc and capable of higher peaks. I think the KLF's would work better with a lower powered amp, as the bass on the Chorus needs some watts to come alive. But if you really want to use a 25 watt tube amp, (as mentioned above) then get a pair of LaScalas for a room that size and put them in the corners on the long wall. Both are great speakers... If you listen to more rock/metal, rap, electronic/dance then go with the KLF's. If there's some jazz and/or classical in the mix, I think the smoother mids/highs of the Chorus would get the nod.
  22. There is no way they're that old... The copyright on the tag itself says "1985" and that type of serial number wasn't used until MUCH later. I'm not saying I'm correct, but that P/N makes it look like they were made in 2001. A picture of the crossover would help as it should show the type... AK-3, AK-4 How did you come up with the "C" as a finish? Because that letter would be part of the description, on a tag, that shows what type of wood/finish was used.

  24. Great price for 5 speakers... Look to be in very good condition. https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ele/5585170026.html
  25. 75 watts would do quite well... They were rated for 100 wpc continuous and 500 watts peak. I've always preferred to have a little too much power versus not quite enough. But go with what sounds good to you. https://web.archive.org/web/20120928054057/http://www.klipsch.com/kg-5-5#second
