  1. I probably should have said "average 11 ohms across the operating frequencies of interest" If you look at the DCR it's 6.9, which is the highest I've ever seen for a supposed "8 ohm" driver. It's been a long time since I've looked at the impedance curve of a Heresy 1 woofer with the choke in place, but it seems approx. 11 ohms is what I remember. I remember PWK's "Dope from Hope" about the higher impedance of a Heresy creating LESS IM distortion in an amplifier vs. an 8 ohm resistor. But it's more of a historical perspective rather then modern application, since I think all Heresy 1's should be modified with a K-42 or Eminence Delta Pro 12A, ported (or not), and the E type Xover changed to a B type Cornwall Network. This give a better tonal balance and definition in the midrange ("the midrange is where we live"...PWK) and lowers distortion by way of 3 db higher efficiency of the high BL woofer. See my Heretical Heresy/Baby Cornwall mod. or ask JimJimbo for feedback, since he now owns my original modded ones. Um, huh? Say that again?
  2. If there's anyone that can "solve" this pair, you guys can... http://www.ebay.com/itm/261592171696?_trksid=p11021.c100205.m2767&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140409140635%26meid%3Dae638fcc171a4072becc05b72f208032%26pid%3D100205%26prg%3D20140409140635%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D301314031289/?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:US:3160
  3. Crap, crap, crap....crap crap crap....Dude, loosen up...
  4. Couldn't agree more... With as much of a backlog as you have (and I don't think I'm telling any secrets...), you deserve and need a little rest. Peering into circuit boards and solder joints all week does get a little....challenging, shall we say...thanks for all of your exceptional experience in this part of the universe....
  5. Obviously, Paul needs more folks to send him units to work on, cause he's spending far too much time here on the forum....
  6. Just have a couple of grandkids, and you will have more songs stuck in your head than you have room for....
  7. I don't think you're going to need to mess with the 103 too much considering you are getting an XMC-1. It has a nice user interface, wireless connection is pretty strong, so I think you will enjoy it. Keep it simple, and be happy.
  8. Aww, cmon....that is classic vintage 1957 flooring!! It's apparently quite "trendy" these days....
  9. From a perspective of experience with numerous Marantz (including the 2385 and 2325), and currently Pioneer SX-1250, 1050, and 950, I would agree with Paul that sonically the Pioneers are superior (In My Humble Sonic Opinion...). Now, what Paul may disagree with, is that while the 1250 is beautiful and hugely capable of driving most anything, as is the 1050, save some money and get a SX-950. Plenty, plenty, plenty of power for efficient speakers such as our faves, and a fantastic low end that will drive Heresy's like you can't believe. No sub needed....let me say that again....no sub needed. I haven't yet hooked one up to my LSI's, but I'll bet it's pretty sweet....next weekend...
  10. Hooked up my recently renovated Pioneer SX-1250 receiver to two pairs of Heresy II's that I recently recapped with Crites kits. They are stacked (gently) on top of my Belle's and Cornwalls. Well, all I have to say is.....damn.....the 1250 is a brute, and churns out some serious low end to get the Heresy's really rockin'....fun stuff.
  11. It will be nice to see them compared to my Super Heresy mods on the H1 cabs. C'mon Claude! You know, two different animals! Your Super Heresy's are the bomb! These are nice size firecrackers......
  12. Good Lord, the Wolverines are struggling with Miami......Devin Gardner must go!! Bring in Shane Morris!!
  13. Tire kicker? Don't think so, but thanks for the compliment.
  14. Actually, I'm glad you revived this, because I have a bone to pick with Panacea....sent them several emails, both through their website, and directly. Received a response about 8 weeks later. i immediately responded to them, asked questions, inquired on pricing, and that was about 3 weeks ago.....no response....sent a follow up email, and have tried to call.....no response. Anyone know what is up with them? I'd love to give them money, but they don't seem to want it....
  15. Thank you so much....I'd like to say it took a gazillion hours of sanding with 54,0000 grit paper with a modified grape press, but no, only a billion hours.....hmmmmm....I think I'll open my garage door tomorrow....a little ventilation....yea.....
  16. Ah, must have been previously owned by a lumberjack....
  17. Remember us? This is after a treatment with Howard's Restor a Finish, and then Howard's Feed and Wax. I would say they look pretty freakin nice. I think this stuff is pretty good.... It is really interesting what you see from different angles...I mean, it almost doesn't look like the same box......
  18. While these are beautiful speakers, if I ever go the "big Heritage" route, LaScalas or Belles are the direction I will go. Bill Well, guess what, I went the "Big Heritage" route, and ended up with Cornwall's, Belle's, La Scala's, the whole shabang....be prepared for additional addiction.....
  19. Yep, I'm thinking of setting up my TV like that too....nice!!
  20. Only 3 items, but nothing major... http://shop.aafes.com/shop/Search/default.aspx?category%7ccategory_root%7c1440=Electronics&category%7ccat_1442%7c13100=Audio
  21. Original factory Zebrawood I would think are quite unusual....very pretty.
  22. I think you might not be interpreting this thread correctly. No one has said anything negative about buying and selling....not that I can tell anyway...
