I had a slight hum from my computer soundcard to my receiver until I switched to Digital (optical cable) audio, versus an adapter from my soundcard to my receiver....... Now dead quiet....... Off topic a bit; but thought it might be relevant,,,, Good Luck.

I currently have SS3s in black..... I got mine on EBAY for $120BIN. I like them alot; and the definitely sound great.... My HT is some Heritage (Heresies), and a KV3 center. Although my system is not all the same series; my receiver allows me to change the EQ for each speaker. I think it blends beautifully and sounds fantastic....... Good Luck!

Not sure if you need to set your amp, but two 8 ohm speakers wired in series should present a 16 ohm load. (I believe you should set it for 16 ohms; but not 100% sure if it is necessary). Good luck!

I have an older Onkyo unit (3 yrs old)..... See my signature. You will be VERY happy with your sound. Read the instructions, and after a bit of time; you should be able to adjust your EQ individually for EACH SPEAKER. This really makes a difference! Also, (not sure if yours came with a mic to measure distance) setting distance with the mic (or even using a ruler to measure from each speaker to the listening position)....... This is CRUCIAL. You will love your setup; I promise. Cheers.....

Man.... that is the best! I did the same thing when I got my Heresies..... (replace cookies with beer [] )..... The KG series are real good, I have had KG 2.5s; 1.5s and currently am enjoying a set of KG2s...... Enjoy!

Music= Stereo; 100% TV= Enhanced or Prologic "TV" (depending on the show; as you said) Movies ( usually blue rays from my hard drive; WMP; Neo6 Cinema or PLII Cinema.... On occasion, music videos work well in Dolbly PLII Music mode...... Karaoke? Stereo.....

I have the SS3's. (Similar speaker only beefier). Mine are mounted behind/ to each side of listening position. This probably is not ideal, but works very well...... I am very happy with this setup....... (FWIW, If I could mount 3/4 of the way back; above and angle down, that would probably sound even better)....... My GF's Mom and Stepdad are in from Texas and they were blown away with the setup....... Good Luck.

I agree with Dennie..... and with HIIs, you can upgrade them completely to the HIII components if you wish.... Good luck. Post some pics when you make your choice......

Academy would be really good; or a CF7...... On a budget? A KV3 is decent enough.... (especially if you can set individual EQ settings for each individual speaker with your receiver)..... I like my SS3s for rear surrounds alot. Also; KG 2.5s or possibly KG2s might work well enough. An IDEAL setup is 5 or 7 of the exact same speaker..... Most people cannot swing that due to size of room; money; or both.... Good Luck....
