  1. That is my understanding too, original discs, not copies. At least that is how I understood the listing.
  2. Well, I am a few days out now, the earth has not stopped rotating LOL. It feels GREAT to sleep as late into the day as needed to make up for the late night before Projects of upgrades to my shop are taking place, no schedule, no worry about getting it done before going back to work, Just stop when it gets "too hot" or I have had enough, THIS IS GREAT!!! I have been looking at the unemployment board for jobs as it is a requirement of applying for unemployment assistance (hey the job ended due to them not a fault of mine) and though there are a couple of listings that I could fill, I don't want to work 2nd shift and VERY likely, they don't pay on a level that is the same as my experience as they look a lot like starter jobs, 2 years minimum in a like job. I have 36.5 years, how does that go about being .. over qualified I am fretting a little about money but on paper, it works out, it is just not as ...... comfortable as I used to be and my purchases on a whim are cut back to nada. I find myself wincing at a $70 fillup on the truck now where that used to just be SOP in the past. 3 days out and I am counting pennies, once things settle down I am sure it will feel a bit better. I think I am going to like this and I know the wife is much happier
  3. 2 1/2 hours to go. Everything feels "normal" but I know I will not ever be back again. The bosses have made their rounds and said the mandatory goodby. All duties have been done and over with yesterday so there is only walking around and talking to people. The wife will be happy!
  4. Ya, it is not the end of the world, In many ways I am looking forward and at the same time, longing for the security I had known in the past. The money is enough to take care of things and now I have time to move other interests to the front of the line. I teach blacksmithing and take on a paying job when they come along. I have learned to professionally detail cars when I purchased my Challenger last year. I have already made a fair bit of money doing it, not enough to pay for the equipment but perhaps 3/4 of it. The wife has had health issues for many years and she has a caretaker over a few hours a day to help, now I will have more time to spend at home with her. The factory that is closing is the Boeing facility at Long Beach Calif. We made the C- 17 cargo transport that is the back bone of the military. With only 220 AC in service and some getting as old as 25 years, the fleet has logged over 3 MILLION flight hours while maintaining a record breaking minimal down time for service in the process. I have been on this program since 1985 making the tooling needed to make the aircraft. For the last 20 years I have been in tooling inspection and the last 5 years I have been the source inspector. I traveled to all the shops that were making tooling or parts of tooling for us and inspected their work before they were allowed shipment.
  5. Good morning everyone. This is Wed morning. Friday is my last work day and Monday the only thing scheduled is to drive in and pick up my last check between 11 and noon. After 36 years, it is going to be strange. For better or worse, the plant closing is forcing this. I do have a pension to fall back on while looking for work but I am too young to retire. It is different between a end of employment that you decide on and one being forced onto you. When I left the Army in 1978, I chose to not re-enlist, thus I chose to end employment. This time, it is just over. A victim of the political times we are in. Most that were employed here are gone, over 1K people have left. There are only a few cars in the lot now and on Monday there will be even less. I do have internet at home but as I am not forced to be at a keyboard all day, I don't know how often I will check in. My spendable income will go down a lot so I did treat myself to a set of pro gaming headphones at half price in the Klipsch sale that is going on at the moment. I sure hope they work with computers and not just consoles. I will find out soon! Well, excuse the Venting, there is nothing anyone at the plant, this website or anyplace else that can be done. It is just what is going to happen and I have watched this factory go from over 22K people to being closed while I have worked here. It is just my turn. UH, well
  6. I just noticed that I have a line in my info to the left, I have 0 warnings!!!! Does this mean that EVYERYONE else has at least one warning or am I special in some way? LOL! Also, not that it matters much but I used to be allowed into the private forum for more... loaded topics. Now, I am 1500 posts short of the requirement! OH well, I guess I have a while to go before I can qualify to get ulcers over others posts to hot button topics. LOL!
  7. I have more, much more SS gear than I do tubes. The need for a dedicated SS forum? EH, OK but my personal opinion is that I have been able to get all my questions answered in the forum setup as is sooooo, ????? ER, OK, I guess.
  8. Our 60 inch Aquos has been a real trooper. It is on about 18 hours a day and is 4 years old. Great picture too. It will be interesting to see the developments to come.
  9. You find them where you find them. They are great speakers, on the large size but that is not a problem for most of us here LOL I paid $500 for my pair of CW2s, drove 1 hour to get them and the seller drove 1 hour too. Mine are OO complete with plant rings on the top LOL
  10. Do nothing, I like that! Going on two hours now. I stopped at the dealer for a quick oil change. They found a disconnected support for the alternator. They are covering it on the warranty so free. I think I know what happened but I'm not saying. I guess I am taking half a day vacation to cover my time here. I just had a doctor appointment and stopped for a quick oil change. It is a good thing that i amold school with changes. Mtg says 10k miles but I freak oit at the 4500 on it now. Had I waited, it would have been out of warranty. Just time is the cost LOL
  11. Hi guy! So, ya here to swap lies, shop for gear, get information or What??? What gear do you have?
  12. Heartwell park, just around the corner! The main plant closed years ago so I am at Wardlow and Cherry, in the smaller building to the left side facing the airport. Lineotype, ya pretty much gone along with all the machines to make it. Does anyone remember ... KEY PUNCH operators? or tax refund checks with "do not spindle fold or mutilate" printed on computer punch cards? I would post a pic of some of the tools used but as I am still working here and don't want to take a chance of getting fired just a few weeks from mandatory layoff, I won't. We had hoped to be able to hang in there with production and get into the C17 -2 a longer evolution of the AC but ... thanks Obama.
  13. OK, got it, I did not review the thread but most here seem to have seen it back then. Sadly the pup (really old girl) in the pic looking at the truck has passed on. She lived a long life with a few different families but we took her in with known medical issues for the last 3 years she had. I am not sure butter would melt in her mouth she was so kind hearted. I went through a bit to get them sealed but pipe insulation worked. I am sure it is more a function of the small room than much else but the bass is not as pronounced as I remember it being back in '77 when I heard them for the first time in a store called Sound Systems Inc. Fayettville N.C. when I was at Ft Bragg. The store is gone now but good memories remain. I always did like the model with the neck best, no reason just preference to looks. I really should still rework the Xovers too, perhaps with an adjustable one to help make up for the small 12 x 12 x 8 room. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/148774-got-em-new-to-me-khorns-in-the-house-d/?hl=khorn#entry1703575 Here are a few pics in the last few years. The first one is of my .. new to me ride. In July of 14 after working in Yosemite for the park service, on my way to work my old car just died. Came to a dead stop then after sitting for a while flashed an error code and came to life again. As it had in the ball park of 160,000 miles (young for my cars) and the problem was deep inside the engine, the anti knock sensor. I sold it off and bought this car. I loved them in the '70s and while my fav was the 68 to 70 Charger, the deal I got on this 13 Challenger with the hemi was just too good to pass up. After I am out of work and I get the severance package (a 13 week bonus as a have a nice life parting gift argued for us by the union, it is getting a super charger and will be putting down right at 500 hp at the wheels) This is working in Yosemite in the blacksmith shop, yes I do the work and it is more than just a name. The man behind me is a good friend who I don't get to see enough so I started sharing my week working with him and I can't imagine working there alone again. I will go through some more pics and fill in a few more details of the last few years and post them soon.
  14. Thanks guys! I had wanted to wait until at least I could get SS but that ain't gonna happen LOL It is hard watching tools (I work in tooling) that you spent 6 months or more making, some 3 stories high and 150 feet long with details set to 0.007 of an inch, destroyed by a metal munching monster at the end of an excavator in minutes then be loaded into waiting semi trucks sold as scrap metal. We have destroyed thousands of tools and there is still a big list to go! We have known for nearly two years it is coming but watching the destruction, that is real. Babadono, thanks so much again, they are well enjoyed and if I can ever save you from the wrath of a Klipsch widow again, just let me know Tarheal, ya, thanks OK, I am off to search the forums for the "new Khorn post" and if I can't find it, I will do another one
  15. As many here have noticed, I am posting again. It wasn't anything other than life getting in the way. I got an email shaming me to return as it was an honest query as to how I was doing. The email was not shaming me, I was, as time and life kind of got away from me. As to how we are doing, well, I don't have the need to sell any gear but if you follow the news, you may have heard that the Boeing corp is ceasing production at the Long Beach facility. I hired into this place in 1978 and there were over 24K people working here around the clock. Now we are down to the last 2 aircraft (C17 military transport, a truly awesome aircraft. The Air Force has 220 of them the oldest is nearing 25 years and the newest is almost 2 years old. Fleet wide there has been over 3 MILLION dependable flight hours with an excellent readiness rate but a very low priority of the Washington powers that be for the last 7 years) and all the commercial aircraft were gone years ago. We now number about 150 all together managers and grunts alike. Most of us are gone in 5 weeks and yes I am in that number. The wife has slid a bit with her medical issues and requires someone to be with or near her pretty much all the time. I did not intend this to be a downer, it is just life and everyone here has had ups and downs, it is just my turn for a down About a year ago I poked my head in here and tried to get tied back in but ... life happens. I was blessed to find on Craigs list, a pair of '79 B mod Khorns in Rosewood within 20 miles of home for the buy it now and cart it home price of $1800 total. Honestly I forgot who it was here that was looking at them but he was kind enough to bow out of looking at them as I did not have a pair and he did. Thanks! The rest of the gear pretty much is the same as it always has been except that I added a Yamaha M50 to the HT to drive the side H2s (a little over kill ??) The Khorns moved my Cornwalls out of the 2ch room and they became the mains in the HT. There is still the Academy doing center duty and it is driven by the AVR but the mains are driven by a Fort'e 3 power amp. I added a 1500w backup power supply/filter to clean up power in the HT. As the plant is closing down, a lot of industrial equipment is hitting the auction block and I won a group lot bid at $156 for a 20 amp Square D Topaz isolation transformer (Used these are at about the $500 mark give or take and about double that for new) as well as half a dozen other things that are of less use to me.. It will be installed into the 2 ch room. Actually 2 ch room is more a multi use space now. I have a 48" 3D flat screen centered in the LP and I rebuilt my PC into a fairly powerful gaming rig. Everything is connected up into the 2 ch stereo and I can honestly say that sitting 6 feet back from the screen and centered between the tube powered Khorns , gaming has a very different feel I am old enough and have enough years to draw full pension from work but it will still be a pretty big hit in the income dept. I am too young for SS so it will be a bit tight for the next 3.5 years until that can happen but I am sure we will work it out. I was blessed to be at this company for so long and to start when I did as my pension package has some excellent medical coverage at a too good to be true (but it is) price each month so the wife's medical needs will be taken care of. Sorry guys (and gals) for being away, this is a great community and I have been away too long.
  16. Steve I started to reply here but thought better of it and started a new thread in the Lounge. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/158395-hi-again-ya-all/
  17. If you were referring to my post above, it is the SAME amp, it is bi modal and auto switching when power is demanded. SS Class A / AB
  18. What about Rosewood at $1800 a pair? I guess I got lucky
  19. My Forte 1s are still on the stock crossovers but I did replace the tweeters with the Titanium tweeters from Bob. I did this on the Fort'es, Cornwall 2s, and my son's KG 5.5s. On all speakers, they were excellent additions.
  20. I have Khorns in a 12 x 12 room, chair about 7 feet back, centered.
  21. Tube, OK got it. Though if one is really sure about the value, a drop of super glue will hold the rocks in place on the smallest of transistors, just saying!
  22. Tarheal, UH, SURE it will! About paypal though, I am afraid that the only payments I can make arrangements for is an in person pick up, cash, down a dark alley at night in a rain storm with thunder and wearing full head to toe rain suits with only eye slits
  23. In my HT, it is CW2 as mains and Academy center. H2 rears and KG 1.5 upper rears. Sounds great. I forget the sub maker but the CW do a great job. I guess my point is there are a lot of directions to go and still have great sound. YMMV
  24. OK, not sure why this is for tube guys any more than for everyone but I bow to your preference. Magic pebbles, resistors and caps that cost more than my car, GREAT stuff. Lets not forget I have some very special oil that I sell, made from the oil that lubs the scales on snakes. It is very rare and hard to get so I am selling it for a mere $500 a drop. That one drop though will last a life time on the bearings of your TT so it is a good value!
  25. Hi, it is great to be back Oh those old things, Who wants a set of '70s speakers, heck the new Bose micro systems and the mating sub blow those old things away! UH, ya, right LOL! They are great though I am still not hearing the bass like I would like. I have them sealed and the drivers are all working just fine. The next step is to replace those old crossovers from 1978. Part of the difference may also be that I replaced a set of Cornwall 2s with the Khorns and they are different in the sound profile. The CWs are alive and well in the HT where they are doing a fantastic job. I have a spare set of Quartets just sitting on the CW for a clean/protective place to store them. The Quartets are not even wired and the CWs sound like both sets of speakers are on, a wall of amazing sound.
