  1. sounds like he needs SPECIFIC LENGTHS for each section
  2. LOVE IT! pm info on builder
  3. Maybe the better question OP is not whether or not you NEED new cross overs, but whether or not you deserve new cross overs...
  4. I dont take anything you say as a sales pitch dean... which is why I brought it up. To shed light on the fact that despite what business you may have the words and ideas that come from you are well meaning, reiable and helpful. FYI... I am listening to a previously unlistenable Roy Orbison LP right this second... it's friggen bliss now! Thank you very much sir.
  5. OMG those are fantastic! that is such a smoking deal for three beautiful speakers!
  6. I think Dean's logic above is well balanced and perfectly stated not because of some macabre sales pitch, but because it's the truth. the difference between an original XO, a rebuilt XO and a redesigned XO using quality parts is really very significant and should not be understated. price sensitivity is always a concern as a user, and I always get the proverbial "my speakers cost 300$, and you want to buy a $350 cross over?"... my answer is absolutely, do not walk, RUN!
  7. Great reflection shot. Where was that taken? Maui. This one is in my good buddies back yard in Austin. no posting flower pictures without naming the flower!!!
  8. doubtful because of the way the printer lays down layers when in use.
  9. sorry... I didnt see the not interested in breaking up the collection part of the post GL then
  10. which version of abbacab is that? there are so many, and most are in the teens except for the 24k gold version.
  11. those look so different than my "B"'s... were there different versions of the "B " cross over?
  12. I want the 402 made of Wood...
  13. Old set up New set up WHEN/WHY YOU FIRST HEARD OF KLIPSCH: Frankly... I do not remember when I first heard of the Klipsch brand, suffice to say it was more than a decade ago. What I do distinctly remember was, that after purchasing my first pair of Klipsch Heresys, there was little doubt in my mind that I made the correct choice. WHERE & WHERE YOU MADE YOUR PURCHASE: For me, price was an issue when buying my first pair of Klipsch Heresys... and as part of my search for a "good" pair of stereo speakers, I gravitated to the Heresy's that were on the secondary market. Purchased from eBay from a nice gentleman who lived back east, I remember the excitement as I opened the boxes. THE SETUP: Set up has been a journey to say the least... many incantations have existed, but always in a fashion where I am only changing small parts of the whole set up at any given time. Thankfully, it has been a path that has almost always taken me forward, and rarely backwards, in terms of sound quality and listening satisfaction. I have stayed away from Tube based main amplification mainly because of lack of intimate knowledge, though I do run a "Parks" Tube based Pre Amp for my Phono-stage. To this point, with the absolute blackness and superb clean sound of the main power amps I am running, injunction with their extreme "Musicality", I have felt little need to make the change to Tube based amp's... though it is not out of the question in the future. MAIN SPEAKERS: Modified Klipsch Cornwall CENTER CHANNEL: RC-64ii... blended thru eq'ing to come into line (as much as possible) with the Cornwall mains in terms of Timbre. SUBWOOFER: Klipsch SW-115 RECEIVER: Pioneer SC-35... I came to the "Ice" based SC-35 after trying many class A-A/B amps. I love the extremely low/black noise floor of Class D amplification. AMPLIFIER: Bel Canto Ref500M... Based on reputation and Class D layout. MEDIA CABINETS: No cabinets but Drexel mid century solid walnut stacked end tables
  14. those LF sections would be cool...
  15. Technicolor is demonstrating a prototype set-top box that supports Ultra HD, or 4K, resolution and a high frame rate of 60 frames per second (fps), this week at the National Cable & Telecommunications conference in Los Angeles. "4K at 30fps isn’t going to be acceptable for live sports content," said Gary Gutknecht, vp, connected home, Americas at Technicolor, as to why the company feels the smoother look of 60 fps is needed. On Ultra HD, which is four times the resolution of HD, Gutknecht said, "There’s interest from satellite providers. We’re hearing they want to launch a service." He added though that this is the early days of Ultra HD, so it isn't clear how much 4K will be initially offered. Technicolor will be demonstrating and discussing its set-top box with satellite service providers this week, and hopes to have the first implementations in place in about a year. Additionally, Technicolor is showing its developing high dynamic range system. HDR is a rapidly growing area of interest in Hollywood’s technical and filmmaking community as it widens the range between the darkest and brightest images that a display can produce. Technicolor is working on a system that would touch everything from production through display. A working group at the International Telecommunications Union is investigating several HDR format proposals from Technicolor, as well as from Dolby, Philips, and the BBC. The group is responsible for the recommended specification for Ultra HD, and is considering the addition of HDR. It could be few years before a decision is reached.
