  1. Not funny and it was in Iceland where the 'laws' are different but when hosting a party in the base housing a CD was missing and needed to be recovered from the car. Open the car door to retrieve the disc, naturally the keys were in hand, and the Icehead police decided that there was intent to drive never mind all the guests in the house and holding a compact disc. DWI. Just a side note; we were only permitted to have 10 CDs in the vehicle and all of them had to be registered with security, change a CD take a trip to security. Couldn't have us selling compact discs on the black market. Did you know that a properly flushed windshield wiper washer system could dispense alcohol as long as you had a tube to attach to the nozzle? No booze allowed off the 'agreed area' either. It wasn't meant to be funny, it was a legal question relating to Thaddeus' situation of ending up in a ditch. Trying to figure out where Iceland came into the picture, I must have skipped over something.
  2. while I might tend to agree with this on some levels, I can not with judges or police, How can one charge / judge someone for failing to follow a law when they themselves do not follow it............................Hypocrisy at the highest levelAgree with Carl POS. That depends. Do we have any evidence that she sentenced first-time offenders to hell? Judges are supposed to be people, too. I know if I was standing before a judge, needing a little mercy, I'd sure want that judge to see me through human eyes. I wouldn't want some infallible, intolerant judge judging me. I would be afraid of that. Judges are in very powerful positions. I think they ought to be able to relate and sympathize with normal people who find themselves caught-up in their own bad judgment. Yes, people need to pay the price for their bad judgment, but the price they pay should be a fair one. I think you might tend to get a more fair price from a judge who knows how to put a price on something through his/her own experience. If this judge is a decent person, then, I imagine that from now on, she will temper her rulings in DWI cases by her own experience. After all, the state bar could have come down on her much harder. She got a break. These kinds of things can shape her into an even better judge. She is an appellate judge, 13th Circuit, she won't be sentencing any one for DWI.
  3. We don't have minimum sentencing in Texas on a first DWI if you get probation. There is a state mandated class and a mandatory surcharge. I haven't seen the facts of yet or the video. The video on here may be on this link, http://m.krgv.com/news/Commission-Issues-Admonition-of-Justice-Longoria/31928466
  4. The DA, Rene Guerra, should be indicted. The new AG should appoint a special prosecutor to put her on trial now, that statute of limitations hasn't expired and I doubt he dismissed it with prejudice. Even if there wasn't a video she could still be prosecuted.
  5. Was the engine running? Key in the ignition when they found you?
  6. I've used that with a jury, but in reverse, 100 lb female would have had to consume 8 beers to be bac they claimed, jury didn't buy it.
  7. Look at all of those Texas people going, amazing.
  8. Spoken like a man who's never watched a world rally race. I would much prefer michelle Mouton driving me than a computer.
  9. This Ain't No Mouse Music is on Netflix right now and is an excellent documentary about Chris Strachwitz, the owner and founder of Arhoolie records in 1960. He started out much like Jac Holzman, recording "folk music." However, he stayed low key, and it was very interesting how he goes out and finds this music and gets it down on tape. He started recording lost blues treasures like Lightin' Hopkins and Big Mama Thorton, getting down local Tejano greats such as Flaco, Cajun, etc. He has recorded Artists who have recorded for the Arhoolie label include: Big Mama Thornton, Big Walter Horton, Dave Alexander, Nathan Beauregard, Juke Boy Bonner, Clifton Chenier, Elizabeth Cotten, Sue Draheim, Jesse Fuller, Earl Hooker, John Jackson, Mance Lipscomb,Guitar Slim, Robert Shaw, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Whistlin' Alex Moore, George 'Bongo Joe' Coleman, Charlie Musselwhite, Doctor Ross, Bukka White, Big Joe Williams, Silas Hogan, Mercy Dee Walton, Black Ace, The Campbell Brothers, BeauSoleil, Jerry Hahn, the Savoy Family Band, the Pine Leaf Boys, Los Cenzontles, The Klezmorim, Rose Maddox, and the Rebirth Brass Band. I highly recommend it if you have Netflix. Travis
  10. Factory Records Rough Trade, by BBC if I recall correctly. Netflix has one now called Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton about the Hop Hop lable Stone's Throw Records. For a great book about Elektra Records I liked Holzman's book about the lable he founded, and Wexler's book about his Atlantic Records is indispensable in my opinion.
  11. That is amazing. Did a truck back up into or something 20 years ago? That worm looking thing is really wierd, like borer damage or something, but I don't think that is what it is. What is the diameter of that stump?
  12. Recent update on new bomber design from Forbes, still just speculation but these are very educated guesses. I'm very skeptical of a 5,000 NM range, but what do I know. http://www.forbes.com/sites/lorenthompson/2015/03/09/the-air-forces-b-3-bomber-isnt-as-secret-as-it-seems/

  15. Sorry it took awhile to respond. Thank you soooooiiiii much. I was hoping you would be on. Travis
  16. I'm flying down to Corpus Christi, TX today for a funeral and thought I would check out a vinyl store while I was there if they had a good one. Anybody know of any? Travis
  17. Not a documentary, but I saw an awesome movie tonight about Brian Wilson I can't reccomend highly enough. Stars Paul Dano and John Cusack who play the young and older Brian Wilson, respectively.
  18. JWC would totally agree with you on that. He has sent me some awesome funk mixes. Travis
  19. There was a budget request by the Air Force last spring FY 2015 for something just short of a billion for development, it is on C-Span. Jane's reported that with a $550M per plane cap it is likely to be a two engine design about half the size of a B-2. The price cap is expected to require the Air Force to use "mature technologies" rather then using new developments. The only two bidders, unless there is a secret one out there, are Northrup and Lockheed/Boeing. Personally, I think it will get axed. There is going to be too much pressure for money from competing programs like the F-35II and the replacement for the Ohio class submarine. But who knows. The only two bidders were Nort
  20. They have over 14,000 employees in Fort Worth, TX, including a Skunk Works (ADP) office.
  21. That is all very true, but it was different legal or policy vehicles that effected change. Standard Oil and US Steel by the Sherman Act and TaftTaft-Hartley, AT&T by consumers in court under the Sherman Act, IBM I believe prevailed in court against Memerox and DOJ but entered into consent decrees, and Google can do what it does because of the Patriot Act. Now it seems that it a more consumer driven backlash. Facebook has gotten heat, and you would think by now that people after reading about the last several murder cases would know that everthing is on your computer, not just google. The web searches found are always the big headline, poison, burying a body, etc. Of course you have the real smart ones that go to public library to be "anonymous" only to be caught on video tape conducting your searches. I believe Mark mentioned in another thread that the internet, while providing quick useful information, is really just an advertising platform. People think because you use it at home or access it from your home it is private private. It of course isn't, actually read a user agreement. You are the subject of the most sophisticated market research to date. What you search, how long on each page, what you click, don't click. We have all see it, you search for Filson Clothing and then for the next month you will go to a page for something totally unrelated and there will be a banner ad for Filson. I predict Google will have some sort of whistle blower that does them significant damage.
  22. Primer, that should be one of Oldtimers faves Foxy Brown
  23. Billy Jack The Return of Billy Jack Night of the Living Dead (original) Dazed and Confused, not surenif it qualfies, but it was low budget and no one was heard of at the time
  24. Wow what a list so far. There were a couple mentioned I have not seen that I am going to check out right away. No one mentioned Citizen Kane, it wouldn't be in my top two either. I like movies that focus on the dialogue, or at least lately I have. 12 Angry Men is a great example, I like both the original and the remake. Glengarry Glen Ross Before Sunrise Rope The Conversation The Breakfast Club Resivoir Dogs Dog Day Afternoon Chinatown and the many others mentioned like Network, Pulp Fiction, but if I coild only choose two films, My Cousin Vinney, and The Verdict
