  1. My gosh, the backyard area and stage look like a whole new property. And the stage has corners. Guess will be pissing off the neighbors on a regular basis (Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site, run by the National Park Service (do they still carry guns?). Travis
  2. Thank YOU! I'm on the mend, terribly disappointed I missed it, and Roy's BBQ/fajitas. Mostly was looking forward to seeing people face to face I hadn't seen in a while. I'm really glad you got to make it and enjoyed it. Looking forward to hearing more about it in here, and seeing what we can see, even if it is Roy flipping meats that were soaked in his secret marinade.
  3. Here is @Smitty8451 original question, that's appropriate here, @JohnA gave his impression (above), anyone else who went to this shindig has any thoughts? I know @mark1101 will have some thoughts and for sure Bill H as well. To the folks who attended the sub fest, I have a couple of questions, I’m not sure if there was an NDA for the event but it’s not a matter of if, but when I will be purchasing one if not two of these new subs, so here goes; 1: What size is recommended for the La Scala AL5 2: Are these going to be powered, and if not how will the crossover I am assuming that will be included connect. 3: if a separate amp is required, what power is recommended. i currently run 3 La Scala’s F/C/R and Forte IV’s for surrounds, but usually I just do stereo listning. I do not plan on using these new subs for movie watching (I have Rythmik subs for that) the subs will strictly be used for stereo. thank you in advance (we’re do I sign up for pre-order, yeah I’m that ready) Travis
  4. @Smitty8451 I moved it over to it's own special thread for attendees to post photos, they are allowed to, etc. You are in luck, part of the class, a great deal I am told, was dedicated to comparing at least the 2 largest size Heritage Subs to a par of La Scalas. I'm sure you will be getting more and more feedback on your excellent questions. Travis
  5. Here is the tread for attendees to post photos they are allowed to, provide impressions, what they learned, answer questions, etc.
  6. Again Randy, that ain't it. I tried. They listened to La Scalas (special secret ones that they can't tell you about) with the largest and the second largest. Mr. JohnA was there, he saw all four of them, he listend to all four of them, the largest two with LS. You don't know what you are talking about and the information you are putting is based on information that's months old. This is one of those situations where you might want to be asking questions or seeking clarification rather than spouting facts that are based on assumptions. I have started a thread for those who attended the event to post their impressions and photos (what they were allowed to take).
  7. Four sizes, @billybob, as advertised. From what I understand you are correct. They don't even have names yet. I believe at the class they were referred to (smallest to largest) as 1, 2, 3 and 4. (I could have that backasswards). I have yet to hear someone call them "sm, med. lg, and xl" and I think that was intentional as none of them are "small" They are horn-loaded so they can't be "small" 24 x 24 x24" for example because it defeats the purpose of horn-loaded bass, which is ultra-low (non-existent) FMD and IMD). PWK's life's work, and what earned him an AES Silver Medal wasn't just low "distortion" it was the study of IMD/FMD on the subjective evaluation and preference of loudspeakers. Beers identified it in the 40's, PWK, like all things he dove into, figured out a way to better measure it, isolate it, and minimize it. I believe it's a matter of physics, these guys can talk about it more, the way to smush it down to nothing, per PWK, is to keep that cone from flapping so much. They learned all of this is in the class and I'm sure that will be reporting on this further. I'm hoping we can do a repeat, mini version of this class in March in conjunction with the PWK BDay Bash.
  8. Randy, that man was in Hope for the 2 day class, taught by the man who holds the patent and designed all 4. He sat and he listened to all four of them. He probably felt his eyeballs vibrate when they played the music that had a 16 hZ fundamental. (Music had to be specially composed for this event, fortunately, KGI has a Renaissance Man working for them and this was done). In other words, he knows what he is talking about, respectfully, you don't. You misunderstanding is that there are 4 sizes that are on the drawing board, and that sub is the next to the largest size. So that's the "large" and there is a size up from there. Whatever photos/video is out there are months old, Roy and his team have been moving forward, tweaking, dialing in, adjusting, and if this is like everything else that will continue right up until production. Any of these may end up looking like the prototypes that were brought to Klipsch meetings, and other A/V shows, or they could look completely different.
  9. Back in the day it was common practice to etch everything from of value with your DL, driver’s license number, so that if it was stolen you had a chance of it being recovered. Police departments recommended this and would give talks at about it at different clubs and events. Travis
  10. @reyerbrandt I removed the photos with the SSN/DL info. for you. The N in the stamps in the mood make them made in 1975. Sorry about the formatting. YEAR OF MANUFACTURE (1955 THROUGH 1983 ONLY) A = 1955-63* F = 1968 L = 1973 S = 1978 B = 1963-64* G = 1969 M = 1974 T = 1979 C = 1965 H = 1970 N = 1975 U = 1980 D = 1966 J = 1971 P = 1976 W = 1981 E = 1967 K = 1972 R = 1977 X = 1982
  11. I will take care of it thank you for pointing out. So N is the year.
  12. You got me there brother. Satire, a very powerful form of communication, more so when the reveal isn’t until the last line. However, I did in fact think it would be cool if they used rare earth magnets to affix grilles. (Luther did that on my UG Jubilees). Three years after I had that thought, Klipsch started doing just that. Clearly they are stealing my thoughts. Note to self, write strongly worded letter to Mr. Jacobs insisting on 50 cents per unit royalty on behalf of Luther, and a letter to Luther suggesting 10% finders fee would be appropriate. Place order for new Jubilees on credit card, pay credit card bill with royalties that will soon be rolling in. End note.
  13. They don’t sound like Klipsch speakers anymore is the top reason I have seen from those who switched one out and did an A/B.
  14. All of the above, especially the last one. Simply pure myth, hatched in the minds of those who believe that their intuition is equivalent to factual reality and not understanding that correlation doesn’t equal causation.
  15. I suppose that’s true. 4 mono blocks, two stereo amps, or a single 4 ch. amp. 4 channels of amplification is what you have to have.
  16. Michael, Any chance you can have rough draft of your suggest manual language/primer on setup by early next week? Shoot me an email or PM please, thanks. Travis
  17.
