  1. Could it be the signal clipping? What is the center set at in relation to the fronts?
  2. Where online do you get your music?
  3. I believe HSU has a wireless sub. I can see where it could create placement options that wired subs wouldn't have, like across a tiled or hardwood floor.
  4. I'm not sure what that would mean then? What would have failed? Sub-10's and Sub-12's are regularly "bashed" in the subwoofer section for failed amps. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
  5. On the constructive side..... For HT, put you money in a good center channel AND subwoofer. They can make or break the HT experience. Cabling can bust your budget if you get carried away in hype. Check monoprice.com. Don't let the inexpensive prices fool you, they carry quality wire and connectors. Don't be afraid of buying used speakers. There's not much that can go wrong with them and repairs (if needed) are relitively inexpensive compared to the speaker as a whole. You can save a ton of money that way.
  6. Inflated MSRP. In terms of raw output capabilities (based on the max acoustic output spec), the $1600 SW-311 is more comparable to the $500 Emotiva Ultra 12 than a $1200 SVS SB13-Plus or the (much more unfair comaprison) $1350 SVS PB12-Plus. Also quick edit: for receivers, I'd highly recommend looking at accessories4less.com. They are authorized dealers of Onkyo and Marantz for refurbs which can net you some pretty good deals. Failed amps..................
  7. Take the known good parts from the good speaker and use them to troubleshoot the defective speaker.
  8. To be fair, not every IB setup consists of four 18" drivers backed by a reasonably heavy pro grade amp They don't?????????[].
  9. Have you pinged dtel? This should be right in his wheelhouse.
  10. I'd expect nothing less. BTW, there may be a new broomstick thread in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned.....................................
  11. Welcome to the forum. Hooking up the speakers just involves speaker wire from your receiver to the speakers. Places like monoprice.com have very reasonable prices on wire and cables. What specifically did you need to know about hook up?
  12. I haven't found many frequencies that are on watefall plots that the IB won't do. I sit about 14 ft. from the drivers and I've gotten 110 dB (corrected) @ 10Hz, and that's in a room with 3 open doors and a 12' peaked ceiling.
  13. Sounds like accurate recovery times to me. Just thinking about it makes me want to take a nap [|-)].
  14. I posted a pic of the tweeter hole mod in the Garage Sale thread for you. I was fortunate and had the rectangular hole on mine so I didn't have to cut the back.
  15. It should roll faster now when you factor in the extra gravity.................
  16. You can then sell some of the 'old' HII parts to recoup some of that $600. I hope to eventually do the HII upgrade to these. Picking them up next week! You'll need to re-work the terminal cup hole on those to accomodate the new rectangular ones.
  17. I think psg was referring to the need for a filter on some of the horn loaded subs (DIY and kit).
  18. High pass filter????? IB's don't need no steenkin high pass filter[].
  19. It's not picking up the bass from your RF-5's for some reason. Are the jumper straps still on the wire terminals?
  20. I went low tech with my D2. If you notice, there's a black box on the top right side of the Anthem. I installed one of the quiet fans that I used in my old Crown amps. The fan pulls heat off the D2 and exhausts it out to the back of the rack where 2 other fans exhaust the heat from the D2's and QSC's. The 3 fans are hooked to a wall wart that is in turn plugged into a switched outlet (I can't remember if it was a switched outlet on my D2 or Furman power conditioner). Regardless of where it's plugged in, it's in a switched outlet. When I power the system up, the fans come on, when I turn it off they shut off. I didn't mess with a thermal switch. Carl
