  1. WHAT?????? Glen's been there for years, I'm gonna have to call and find out what happened.
  2. Actually (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) the amp uses the same ammount of power when it's on "on" or "auto". The amp stays powered up all the time in either mode but the input portion of the amp shuts off when there is no signal. This makes sure the sub is dead quiet when there's no signal.
  3. I would think that you could however you would need to use the subs crossover as you would be bypassing the receivers network. Any RCA cable should work.
  4. I think that the RC-7 would be a much better center than an RB-75.
  5. If you are asking if your 2 surround speakers should be on the 2 walls beside you or the wall behind you, then the answer would be on the 2 walls beside you, slightly behind you and about 2 feet over your head while in the seated position.
  6. S2KDDS, did you score any speakers?
  7. See if you can find some RTV rated safe for electronics. The ones not rated safe for electronics may corrode your board.

  9. S2KDDS, you have 2 PM's.

I don't mind driving to pick them up. ---------------- S2KDDS, Beaumont (where I live) is about 1 and 1/2 hrs east of Houston. The dealer I bought them from is an hour past that. If you are still interested, PM me and I'll give you my salesmans name and phone # to the store. They're great to work with. Bear in mind that if you're going to get them all at once, you'll need a truck. Carl
  11. Bchild, I love my RS-7's. They do exactly what they are designed to do. Create a field of sound. They don't stick too far out from the wall and match the other Reference speakers sonic signature. They don't call attention to themselves but when a bullet ricochets to the side of you, you know right where it's coming from. If I listened to alot of multi channel music, I'd have bought thr RB-75's but for HT, the RS-7's are great. Critics call them "sound sprayers" as an insult, but if you look at how they're built, that's what they are. They'll also go low enough that you can crossover at 60Hz if you want to.
  12. Let me clarify, $700.00 plus tax EACH. I didn't think anyone would assume that it was $700.00 for a pair of RF-7's, my bad. Yes, it was from a brick and mortar dealer, full Klipsch warranty. FYI, I also paid $495.00 each for my RF-5's, $199.00 each for the RB-35's $509.00 for the RC-7 and $317.50 each for the RS-7's (plus tax). Not a close out, still in business.
  13. Sorry, RS'7's here, but I've read a lot of good things about using the RB-75's on the sides. Especially for multi channel music.
  14. Where in TX? I got my RF-7's for $700.00 plus tax.
  15. Any decent RCA will work fine.
  16. Way to go merkin (that name still cracks me up!). Good to see you finally took the plunge. Keep us posted as to your thoughts. Carl
  17. What will the sub be used for, HT? Music? How big is the room? What levels do you typically listen to. You may get one suggestion for HT and another for music. We need a little more info.
  18. I run my RF-7's in the small mode for HT with an x-over of 60Hz. Prior to that , in the same system I had a pair of RF-5's in their place. Same receiver, same x-over, same room, properly calibrated with AVIA and an SPL meter, blah blah blah. Some would think that the sound would be the same, not so. Both speakers will reach well below the crossover however the difference in the fullness of sound , as a prev. poster had alluded to was substantial. Also, bear in mind that a crossover is not a brick wall where 60Hz will play and 59Hz is silent. Your speakers are still producing sound (audibly) well below the crossover point. If your system sounds better to you with the speakers set on large (with everything calibrated correctly) then that's where it should be set, end of discussion. My thoughts and my system are irrelevant. Carl

  20. You need to grab it. It's a stellar piece to build a HT around, at a very good price. The warranty should be transferrable to you also.
  21. I agree with bsafirebird1969 and MrMcGoo. You've got a 1000 ft of the stuff, just run double wiring to everything. It will even allow you to bi-wire if you ever get the itch. The wires paid for and you've got it there, use it. If I figured it correctly, 2 16 ga is larger than 1 12 ga run.

Thanks alot for the suggestions everyone. ---------------- For a system used primarily for HT, buy the best center channel and sub you can afford. They are the 2 most important speakers that you will have. Your sub can change a movie that you see and hear into a movie that you can also feel. Don't skimp on the sub. Your center channel reproduces nearly all the dialogue and is the speaker that you will listen to the most. Buy the best one you can afford and upgrade your sides and surrounds later as you can afford it. Carl
  23. Welcome to the forum Metal. The 2 12's would give you more output at the sacrifice of a small amount of extension. Using them primarily for music, I'd say that the extension would not be missed. I'd go for it.
