  1. I allways wanted to try an IB sub. In new construction, I'd be hard pressed not to. Carl
  2. Divin, did you order your sub from a retail store? If so, are you getting the 15 for the same price they were selling you the 12? Carl
  3. Ismail, didn't I read one of your other posts where your upstairs neighbors were allready complaining about too much noise? Anything that will be suggested to you here will certainly get you run out of your building. Bass waves are very long and will go through walls. Your situation will be much worse with a good quality subwoofer. That being said, go for the baddest sub you can afford as your next residence may have a larger listening area. Carl
  4. One thing about HK is that they under rate their equip. My 7200 is rated at 100 wpc into 7 channels and 115 wpc into 2 channels. When S&V bench tested it, it measured over 140 wpc in the 7 speaker mode (all channels driven) and over 190 wpc in stereo. They also rate their wattage across the entire audible bandwidth, not at just certain frequencys like some manufacturers. Carl
  5. Unless there is some sort of backordered part, 6 weeks is crap to get anything fixed. Sounds like you're dealing with the government. Does Klipsch have it or a dealer? Carl
  6. Has anyone noticed the problems RSW owners have getting their subs fixed? Are the moderators taking all this in? It seems like a good place to gather info to help fellow Klipschers. Anyone out there? Carl

  8. Welcome to the forum! Is it a large room you have it in? Is it possible you have the gain up too high? Have you tried to calibrate the system? Carl
  9. Bill, this may help or may increase the speed of your tailspin. You need to decide what is more important to you, 2 channel or HT. If it is 2 channel, I would put more money into the L.F. and R.F. speakers. If it is H.T. then you really need to concentrate on getting the best center channel and sub you can afford. Anything else is a compromise. Unless you have a dedicated H.T. and 2 channel room your system should lean towards the type of listening you will be doing the most of. As a side note, there are few H.T.'s out there that have much of a "wow" factor (to me) that don't include a sub. Especially in a large room. Carl
  10. If it is a standard spade connector, yes. Use a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the female end shut. The male end will still be able to go back in, but it will require more effort. You don't want to use enough pressure to flatten them, just increase the tension. Be sure the connectors are apart when you "adjust" them. Carl
  11. I bought my son a pair of used LS-12's for Christmas. We coupled them with a '75ish JVC integrated amp that I had bought when I was a teenager. I believe it has about 60 watts and performs like a high current amp. The difference in sound that the Klipsch products produce and the CV products is as different as my and my sons taste in music. I bought the CV's because of their sound. Clear midrange and highs and slightly overemphasized bass. They are not one note bass speakers like some car subs are but the bass is not as tight as any of the Klipsch products that I have owned. I believe that they are purpose built for a different demographic (younger possibly) than Klipsch. Louder price, less expensive etc. My son thinks they are the bomb. He lit up like the Christmas tree when he saw them. I don't think I would have gotten the same reaction with a pair of RF-35's. Carl

    Why LOTR?

CAS, your avatar sucks, find a nice Klipsch one and get along. Carl
  13. Craig, do you not post at HTS anymore? I always enjoyed reading your posts and reviews and wondered if you were still around. Carl
  14. JJ, I'm sure there are some electrical engineers that will chime in, but anecdotally it seems it's not an issue. There are a tremendous ammount of manufacturers that use inboard amps with their subwoofers with no problems whatsoever. I think you are seeing a board that posts just about every aspect of speaker and audio concerns. Occasionally there is a concern with sub amps as well as hundreds of other issues. Basically, what I'm trying to say (with no scientific proof to back my claim) is that amps in subwoofer enclosures are probably ok. Carl
  15. In his younger years, my Rottweiler Adolph became overly fond of our TV remote. This was his "teeth growing, need to chew" stage that most dogs go through. Needless to say the remote didn't stand a chance. As I recall, the largest piece left was about 2 inches. Well, paybacks being what they are, I got the last laugh the day we went to the vets. for a doggie "clipping" ......... yip! Carl.
  16. Don't know much about the Denon products, but it sounds like a set up issue. Go back through your owners manual and be sure the sub is "turned on" for the particular input you have chosen for your DVD player. Carl
  17. Any of the SVS's will pair up well with your set up. It will depend more on the size of your room, room openings, listening preferences etc. as to what would work best for you. E-mail SVS tech. dept. for guidance. Carl
  18. You will find that most people will recomend what they own. After all if they own it it must be good. Usually you will find most people also prefer seperates over receivers. Take your budget and go and listen to some stuff. Read alot, make a list of pros and cons and have fun with it. I would have seperates myself if I could afford them. Most likely a couple of upgrades down the road for me. In the mean time I'm happy with what I have. The Aragon set up you mentioned would be sweeet. Carl
  19. Check out the Simplyspeakers web site. I've used them for several years. You can send the damaged driver to them and they will repair and test it before sending it back. They also have do it yourself parts if you are so inclined. Either way they are a good value. I believe they are in Florida. Carl

  21. Shipping may eat you up but Glen at Lake Charles music (in La.) is hard to beat. (I am not affiliated with them) www.lakecharlesmusic.com I paid less than your internet quote but did have to pay tax. I also picked them up there so I didn't pay freight. Carl.
  22. The RW-12 has pretty good slam for music but not a lot of couch shaking rumble for HT. Carl
  23. You should be able to put a Y at the sub out connection on your receiver and run a cable to each if they are positioned apart. If they are co-located and you have a sub out connecter on your sub then run 1 cable to the 1'st subs sub in connecter and a short cable from sub 1's sub out to sub 2's sub in. Be sure to callibrate when done. Carl
  24. I guess it depends or your receiver. On mine I have the option of turning the sub off in 2 channel. Even with the RF-7's I prefer the sub on in 2 channel. If you want to see what it sounds like subless, just turn the power off to your sub. Carl
