  1. Nice ride! I have been riding for about 35 years. It all started when my dad bought me a Yamaha 80 enduro at the age of 8.I have been on the street since about the age of 18.My first street bike was a Honda 450/4 then next was a new Honda Shadow 700 in 1987.About 1995 I got my first Harley,a used 1990 1200 Sportster. In 2001 I moved up to a new Road King Classic.I will attach a pic of the first day I brought it home. If I can give you any advise it would be LOOK AHEAD,be aware of your surroundings and be defensive, trust me they just dont see you.Your profile is small compared to the cars out there.Take a motorcycle safety course,it could save your but someday. If you ride at dusk on less traveled roads watch for deer!Ok done with the advise just dont want to see another statistic. One big change in my life after Harley ownership was the sheer amount of events linked to Harleys. There are major Rallies every week all over the country.I have met more great people since.Join your local HOG group and get out and enjoy the freedom only a bike can give you. The pic of my Road King day one,if only you could see it now about $8000 later...did I mention these things are money pits LOL. Enjoy,Greg
  2. Charlie, You are in my thoughts. Greg
  3. Send it back and get the correct one, sorry for your trouble but they have to send you the right one,the one you thought you were getting and the one that works.I would raise hell with them untill I got it right!!! Greg Make sure you tell him his feedback will suffer unless he makes it right!!!!

  7. Your post of 'Right this minute' is a classic. A great thread that gets everybody involved. Many days I look at this thread and see what members are listening to drawing my attention to a gem I have not heard in a long time. Hope the tread continues till page 10000 or more, that would be cool and I would be very OLD!!!! Greg
  8. Micheal, Not to hound you...but how about that vinyl rig?I have this album but nothing to play it on,so...... LOL Greg
  9. its in the CDP now and oh yea!!!!been awhile, great sound! I would love to hear the difference between vinyl and cd right now? Greg
  10. Hell ya! CTA,Chicago Transit Authority sued them to change thier name,so we know just Chicago.Great effort btw. Thanks for the thread now its got to go in the CDP.Havent heard it in awhile, lookin forward to it! Greg
  11. wanna borrow my Scala's,gotta come get em though...and return them in a timely manner!!!,cudos to you, hope they enjoy the sound! Greg
  12. This is just what I need for my BagEnd sub system, but the damping factor is a little TOO high.Sounds like the ticket for Jeff, buy now he probably has a little more hearing loss and could use the power(sorry Jeff...could'nt resist) Greg
  13. Ken, I may not be the best person to give a recommendation on a tube preamp.I dont have one in the system because I have a preamp section in my Mark Levinson cd player connected directly to an active x-over then to my tube amps.System volume is controlled at the cd player. I do know many members here use tube preamps with good results. The Juicy Music pre seems to be favored and built by a forum member who knows and owns Klipsch.I read in many places that the combination of a tube preamp and SS amp is very good. There are other people on this forum who can steer you in the correct direction like the previous posts.I am sure there will be more. Also Dean should be able to cover some other variables in your system that will improve the sound. Greg
  14. Actually I dont think I can hear above 15k. I will admit that the heritage line cant do 20hz to 20khz,that is why I use a sub with my Scala's.Hey it works for me. Greg
  15. Wow,great post. I have as most of us expierienced a similar road to musical nirvana.Yours sounds very much the same.I can say the last 6 months have been very good with the changes I made.Am I done yet...hell no but for the first time ever I listen for hrs.The system has been on since Nov of last year...well at least 10 hrs a day since.I cant seem to get enough.I have been kicking around the idea of a similar post. Greg
  16. I keep hearing about these Juicy Music preamps.I currently use the preamp section in my Levinson CDP with good results imo,one less set of IC's.I wonder what a good tubed pre could do for my system. I currently have Wavelength Gemini monos and Bryston SS amps in a biamp setup with a Rane active x-over sending signals to LSI bass bins and Altec 511/902's. I like to think one of the strengths of my system is the simplicity of the signal path and adding another component takes away from that. Greg
  17. Hello, First you need to determine the lowest freq.your sat. speaker will reproduce.Your sub should have a variable x-over and level control. If your sat. speaker reproduces bass down to say 80hz then set the subwoofers variable x-over around there. It is important to expieriment with placement of the sub, level and the x-over setting to find what sounds best to you. If you have 2 outputs on your preamp you can use a line level input to the sub with the second output. If not run your speaker outputs from your amp/reciever to sub(at the speaker level inputs)then on to the sat speakers from the speaker level outputs. It is hard to recommend the right setup till you tell us more about the system as a whole,I hope this answers your question. Greg
  18. Ken, I think zapper misread the posts.Someone asked about using an Altec 811 horn in place of the stock midrange squawker(not you).Altec also makes a 511 horn.As for the outboard, that reference is to an avtive x-over that goes before the amp. Greg
  19. and my friends cant believe it either untill they listen. They cant believe this ancient technology just stomps all over thier new modern hi-tec contraptions. One friend commented that he went home after a jam session and turned on his system and promply turned it off,the only bad thing about listening to my rig is he cant listen to his because it sucks so bad! Greg
  20. boomac, I would be interested in attending, sounds like fun.I ride alot in Wisconson but havent been to your neck of the woods.I could definately get into that ride, now just tryin to figure out how I can get my Wavelentgh 45/2a3's on the bike.Send me pm on your whereabouts and local lodging. Greg
  21. Is it possible to save a post to the system?I ask because I did a review of my newly arrived NOS RCA 2a3 tubes vs the Sovteks.I had about an hr into it and ran out of time to add further.I have probably another hr or so to go.I tried to copy what I had to the harddrive but my pc woulndt do it.I next copied and emailed to myself the text.It arrived blank. The sound you hear now is a guy cussing under his breath!Once I copied it was gone from the post page lost forever it seems.Next time I will type it up in the office program unless there is a way to save on the web site. Greg
  22. seti, I find the more I get my Scala's out of the corner the less boomy bass I have but at the same time it gets cleaner and improves midrange clairity.Currently mine are about 2 feet out and toed in at about 30 degrees from the side walls. Greg
  23. Thanks, I am trying to learn about how the things work and want to biuld a simple pre then SET amp.Any info to that end is apprieciated. Greg Edit:It helps to have pics.
  24. Allan, Where did you get those cool graphics? Greg
