  1. The reference to "smokinhotstyles" is at the very bottom of the listing, just below the paypal logo and above where you place your bid: Seller's payment instructions Thank you for your purchase and prompt payment. This ensures your item will be sent out immediately. Thank you! ~smokinhotstyles If you look at the other items this seller typically sells, "smokinhotstyles" could have been a past username for them. The chick in the Arden B Skirt and the almost see through Keyhole Dress certainly appeared to be smokin' hot.
  2. I hate when scammers can't even take the time to manage the details properly!
  3. Mike, you're speaking in code again. What the heck is a 2002 or 3002? Thanks for your input Who.
  4. Hey Mike, (or anyone) Does Klipsch make anything NEW that is comparable to the H or KP201? I like the idea of a speaker this size that I can lug around that can take some handling. I also like the idea of buying something new from Klipsch whenever possible.
  5. Looks perfectly legitimate to me. Detailed description, photos with his user id, information on contacting local Craters and Freighters etc.. More improtantly, check out the hot models he has hanging around the house. I'm partial to the Arden B Black Pencil Skirt he has for sale. Very nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190137263669
  6. I don't like the line.... "This is your chance to bid on the 1st MARATNZ PRODUCTION MODEL TUBE PRE-AMP". This is Craiglist, there's no bidding. Makes me question if he lifted this from an ebay auction or something.
  7. When it comes to common electronics like SS amps which we all probably have too many of anyway, the forum usually only jumps when something is offered at a nice discount to what it could be had for on Ebay or Agon. If I can buy it on Ebay for $207, there's not much incentive to buy yours. Pictures help too.
  8. I think the 60's were just not well receieved in the US market by the HiFi dealers who seem to crave smaller Home Theater speakers and/or a more "boutique" brand name such as Wilson. Also, from what I have seen, I can't imagine wanting to upgrade anything on the 60th anniversary Khorns. Let me back up, what makes you think, if your were to buy a new set of Khorns(regular or 60th) that you would need to upgrade components?
  9. I call dibs on the BB when the guy gets out of the hospital.
  10. 10 days with no contact is pretty disconcerting. Something is amiss. I don't think I would sit around an be patient. I would go to the post office and explain the situation and see what they would say is the next step. I often wondered what would happen if a person got in a car accident, hospitalized or otherwise died in between him receiving my payment and shipping my goods. It's not like his wife or kids are going to know about or care about whatever "sold" junk he had laying around.
  11. Very good advice. The Synergy system and your receiver should give you a great HT experience. Get your speakers levels equal and enjoy you system. You do know how to set the individual speaker levels? We tend to talk about it like it's obvious but first we need to know that you know how to do that. An SPL meter is simply a sound meter that measures sound levels. You reveiver should have a test tone setting that plays one speaker at a time and allows you to adjust each speaker sound level one at a time. The meter will tell you exactly(no guessing) how loud each speaker is. In most movies the surrounds should be pretty subtle, not screaming out at you unless there is truly something behind you(you being the camera usually) in the movie.
  12. "He said he is convinced the harassment is related to the Internet feud and plans to spend $30,000 on more fencing topped with barbed wire." Like, how does a dude who lives in a trailer, have a spare $30K for a barb wire fence? Thrifty maybe.
  13. I think the Brook was PWK's favorite amp back in the 50's when their wasn't a whole lot else to choose from in regards to hi fidelity. Per the letter above, he did regard the Marantz 9 as one of the best and I've read that somewhere else in another interview but I can't recall where. He also mentioned the Brook again in a 2000 interview in Vacuum Tube Valley but it was while they were "waxing nostalgic" about the early days of the Klipschorn.
  14. Pete, That's the standard arm lift for the early version SME arms. It's one of the ways you can tell them apart from the Series II. Looks like you just have an extra one. And the additional counterweight... again, just looks like an extra one. It might be of slightly different weight but it sure doesn't look like it. Whoever owned this arm probably had many arms and parts over the years. The box, as I already pointed out, is not the orignal box for this particular arm. I would have liked to nose around this guys basement for a few hours! And no, I do not want to call dibs on the "DiscTracker". I like your decription... I was just hoping somebody had the genius marketing story on that little beauty.
  15. Pete, Yea that "DiscTracker" contraption is not something I've seen before. Who's got the scoop on that thing?
  16. C1 condition? I didn't see that. I wouldn't pay 799 either. They look pristine in the pictures. But if they Audio Classics says "C", I would trust them. And I wouldn't pay that much for them.
  17. Wow, those are beautiful. Wonder what that Model # means? H-HR-12. The grill cloth is spectacular for such an old speaker. The price is $799? That's very fair for a collectible pair like this. These are pretty much going to be "one of a kind" for those that are into to vintage collectibles.
  18. Pete, Wood arm... Grado Labratory Series. There's a manual for it here in case you ever want to goof around with it. http://www.vinylengine.com/library_model.php?make=Grado&selected_model=Laboratory%20Series
  19. What does Flatearth want for their SME RCA kit these days? A couple of years ago when I needed one they were killing me with price and "no stock". Thats' why I sought out the euro folks. If they're reasonable and in stock, I would certainly have no problem getting a correct kit from them. The euro kits are about $50 and so far have fit like a charm. The kits are really nothing more than a couple of nice RCA jacks but the spacing is important for a nice clean fit.
  20. Nice price. He would have probably seen $1300 to $1500 had he let his auction run. All it takes it one tt collector who doesn't have this arm to decide he wants one and really doesn't care much about what he pays. Looks like the arm is pretty good to go since you have the SPU cartridge. Seeing that he doesn't have the original harness, I would definitely install RCA's on the bottom. Way better than spending $100+ on an original SME harness/connector that is beat to crap, in my mind. Seeing how much fun you're having buying stuff, you'll enjoy the chance to buy and wait for one more piece of the puzzle. http://www.analogtubeaudio.de/index.php?article_id=131&clang=1 The wood arm looks like a Grado to me. They aren't worth that much. But they're fun to look at.
  21. The box says SME 3009 Series 2. But that tonearm arm is the first version from what I can tell.
  22. That's the ulitmate arm for the SPU. Original box and all. That should have cost you 2 grand all by itself! Beautiful arm though, that's what I have on my Garrard. Where did that surface? Does the counterweight droop? Looks straight. I don't see any coupling rubber between the tube that holds the counterweight and the arm tube. This rubber breaks down sometimes and the counterweight droops in the back. You shouldn't need anything. What I would do(and did do to mine) was to replace the connectors underneath with the RCA replacement kit from that place in Europe. I've posted a link to it before, the name escapes me right now. They'll be very picky about making sure they know which model you have. Send them the picture just ot be sure. I spent years with the damn SME finickly cables. Sometimes they hum, sometimes they don't. No matter how well I cleaned, resoldered etc.
  23. Maron, That's awesome, defintely keep that arm. It's a collectors item and a great tonearm to boot. The few I've seen for sale went for twice what the Series II go for. Pete, I know how you feel. As soon as you give up and "settle" for something different, they'll start popping up all over!
