I don't use my 3960 anymore. The damn thing doesn't have an optical output so it wouldn't recognize or play movies in 5.1 digital sound. How can a newer DVD player NOT have an optical output? I wouldn't recommend the 3960 to anyone. If you want a $59 dvd player then be forewarned... you're getting what you pay for.

I used a fisher sa300 (sa100's big brother?) with my cornwalls for a while. It was incredible. I didn't realize how nice it was until I sold it. I stupidly ebayed it in the never ending search for "something better".

i recently got a sony stdr897 at sears for $397. It's a 7.1. I like it. You can get em much cheaper now on ebay/

my 1st cd player was one of the first ever sony indash auto cd player. CDX-r77. Around 1984 I think. It was awesome. Soon to be replaced by their next indash model... the cdx-r88.

I'd like to reiterate my earlier post... Take them back! What do ya want them for? Not only are they beat up, they're burnt up.

I did the shure replacement styli thing about 6 months ago. The styli I sent them was broken right off. All that was left was the plastic piece. I sent it in with a $50 and they sent me a brand new VN35 stylus. Their policy was that they would retip your styuls for $50. Any stylus that couldn't be retipped wasn't eligable for the program. They went out of their way to hook me up.

if you ever have the notion to go with a 5.1 HT system you're screwed if you have old 2 channel gear. You might as well go for the HT receiver now.

The ebayer in question (niha13) used this email address japsani1@aol.com when corresponding with the sellers he/she purchased things from on ebay.... not the deepsleeps@aol.com address that is trying to scam everyone. Aol allows 7 email address per account so it wouldn't be difficult for the person to use one email address for legitimate purchases and another email address for his/her scams.

is anyone doing anything with the info I posted above? I'd like to see this bastard caught.

what year do you think they are? I looked in the 70 and the 66 hi/fi directories but none of the tannoy cabinets had those dimensions. Even if you didn't buy the tannoys you got one helluva deal. The tannoys just make it that much better. Good for you!

what year would you guess the tannoys are? I can look them up in the stereo guides and probably figure out what model they are by the dimensions... if those dimensions you mentioned are correct.

I emailed all the buyers that ebayer had transactions with. A few emailed back but didn't want to help. One helpful seller emailed back and said the ebayers address was not in nyc but in Va. Tha makes sense. If I was going to run a scam I'd have the money sent to a PO box somehere or a friends in another state and have them forward the money to me. Hopefully the ebayer will give me the Va address and maybe if someone can follow the trail it will lead to timmys money.

with the 6 digit displays embryon is a bit easier to roll than with the 7 digit modification. ive never played flip a card. Never owned a gottlieb either.

I don't have much experience in playing LPs on different tables with different carts. I have sort of just got back into vinyl after 20+ years. The last serious listening I did was as a teen on my sisters Lloyds all in one record player. I'm happy with the throens setup as it is but I have nothing to compare it to.
