  1. If you really like the RSW-15, I urge you to try the new R-115SW. It will go toe to toe with the elder beast. I would even say it sounds better in a musical sense. I am biased though as I was completely entrenched in all the new subwoofers released this fall. This coming from a person that owns two "modified" RSW-15s. To answer the original thread title, I will respond by saying "we are listening to your cries".
  2. The Fs sounds about right to me. Fear not, as long as that is a "real" woofer, it will perform as expected. The Re sounds correct as well. That is a 6 ohm woofer.
  3. There are no new updates for that product.
  4. What are the symptoms you are experiencing with the system? Does the system "power up" but doesn't make a sound? I might be able to show you a quick fix if my hunch is correct.
  5. I really like the Jamo stuff. They have very smooth response and a huge soundstage. The surrounds are incredible, very enveloping. I like the fact that the surrounds match the finish of the mains and center, not just plain black.
  6. I have posted in here before, but I have a new rig since then. Mits 73" Jamo 7.1 setup C809 C80CEN C80SURR C603 Rear SURR Dual custom made RSW-15

    IR Relay...

I use this one from Parts Express. You will also need a 12V 200ma(can be higher current) power supply, and one emitter per device to control. Its a great kit to start with, it can be expanded on if needed. Xantech is definitely well versed in the IR repeater systems. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=182-456
  8. It has a different motor structure. It does use the same diaphragm. One could swap between RC and RF, but the RB would not work in the others.
  9. the RB is NOT the same, though definitely share blood.
  10. The main reason is for updating firmware, and to see the changes the ARC created in a graphical manner. It is not necessary to use the usb function for the best performance, if you have ran the room calibration then you are already there.
  11. I'll bite; I would set the sub about 3 o' clock on the volume knob. Start with the Denon at about -6 on the sub level.
  12. that sucker does play deep. perhaps not svs ultra super dooper sub(whatever the model is) deep, but then again no one usually has a room large enough to support a note below 23hz anyway. If you do you can't even hear it so... not sure where you got your 27Hz from, but my information shows -6db about 19-20Hz. professional measurements are taken at ground plane. FS is 20hz +/- 2hz on that cabinet i'll take the 884 over TWO RT-12D anyday. i've also had an RSW-15. the 884 is staying.
  13. i have a set that need some new veneer on the front bezel, but the rest of it is "useable". good corners and solid cabinets otherwise. id say a great canidate for a reveneer. i can get pics tonight. they are walnut 1976 i think.
  14. i have for sale a pair of crossovers i built with Solen caps and PE brand inductors. These are on birch plywood layout, NOT on a terminal cup. They are in great shape, but i do not have transformers. if i find a pic today i'll get them up as soon as i can asking $100 + shipping
  15. pauln, what your hearing is just as you stated in your post. the mid/hf level relative to the LF is slightly down in ouput from the stock AL-4. it will not however retain the same efficiency, though it should be close. by changing crossover topologies, you have also altered the voicing, which depending on your preference it may indeed sound better.
  16. those curves don't look as pretty as ones i have seen []
  17. i have a DEQ2496, its quiet. i measured a DCX2496 about 8 months ago and it was as quiet as a DX-38. If cash wasn't an issue i'd buy a 38 without thinking twice. Mainly becuase i am used to working with them. I do however like my DEQ, pretty bouncing lights.
  18. i'm sure there are better choices than the 28, but i swear i remember someone from hope told me it was a fine replacement. It could be that its the most available unit so it was the likely choice.
  19. the k28 is the current H3 woofer. it should work well in a forte, regardless of what the numbers say.
  20. that will work, you would want to set the output of the first preamp to 4/5 the max input voltage the second preamp can handle. that should help keep you out of the noise floor a bit more and allow the most dynamic range possible. Inevitably the system will have more noise in it, whether its noticeable or not depends on how good the equipment is.
  21. well they sound like la scalas I think they are a very solid foundation to start a system with. just not my tonal flavor and not SIZED right for my room. I feel they need some room to b r e a t h, to really shine. They are by far and large the LOUDEST damn things ever to sit in my living room. An 8008 powers them with tremendous force. The tripple binding post setup i did is a very convenient way to tweak things on the fly. I do want to say they really look nice, its only upon bright light close inspection you see their history under the paint. I like that look, it tells a story while still holding the WAF intact.
  22. hitting ebay in 48 hours if no interest here.
  23. I got an email at 5am the other day. It was from the audioslave fan club saying it was over. I was very very upset of this news. On the flip side there may be a chance of RATM getting back together after their "one time show" later this year. I'm sure CC will do well whatever he does, and I'll buy any album either side puts out. oh yeah and VR sux.
