  1. I was about a year into being married (1987) and my wife and I wanted quality gear for our new house. Went to a shop that no longer exists, HiFidelity, in Ausitn, Texas. Took me several trips to pull the trigger on a brand new pair of Forte IIs. Still have them along with the Nakamachi equipment that I bought all at once. I've never bought a different brand of speaker since. Well, except for the factory stuff that comes in automobiles these days. I've never even heard Klipschhorns. that's gonna change soon.
  2. Ya'll are killin' me. This is hilarious. This software is way to prevelant. Somebody's going to get very rich if they can write the software that prevents this stuff from being downloaded without our permission.
  3. Dude. It's an easy decision. no reason to waste a bunch of oxygen.
  4. Forte IIs.............somethin' about the midrange horn, big woofer, and passive radiator... it just rocks.
  5. I'm never going to buy a Corvette because those Chevy Geos really suck. OK
  6. If you haven't yet made a purchase. You should try the Klipsch/Harman Kardon combination. IMO
  7. Fry's is in Austin, Texas. I've found the salesman to be fairly knowledgeable. Along the lines of BB. Better for PCs than audio gear.
  8. Those speakers were manufactured in the mid '90s and are part of the "Classic" line. The KG line of speakers will match up pretty well. Check out the products information on the klipsch website. Go to classic and then center channel. As center channel, you'll probably want a sheilded speaker. When the model number ends with a V, the speaker is sheilded. Somethin' like the KG 2.2V would work. There was one for sale on ebay a few weeks ago.
  9. Mark: I've always owned Receivers. Never owned or even listened to a tube amp. But, I've got interest. Any suggestions on how I might get to listen to your equipment. I'm in Austin, Texas.
  10. BIN of $400 for that speaker in and of itself is very fishy. that's two water damaged academy on ebay in a month.
  11. I have no direct experience with those two models, but try using the search function of Klipsch Forums for heresy and KG4. Old strings will probably answer your question.
  12. I've listed to my forte IIs driven by my Stassis Nak TA-4A since 89. Haven't compared it to much; but I love it. Would love to hear side by side comparison to tube amps with the same pair of forte IIs. My forteIIs are now the foundation of my HT with an SVS subwoofer to compliment. Now driven by a HK7000 AVR. Also, wonderful. My Nak now has some lowly KG1.2s; but I'm probably going to try a pair of RB75s so I'll have Heritage and Reference in the same house. Isn't this a great hobby!
  13. Share a little more info: length, width, and height of room primary listining position in the room describe windows and openings. If the room "opens" into other rooms describe. with this, help is on the way.
  14. I'm in the market for a new pair of RB-75s. A product that Klipsch appears to be pretty proud of today. I've got a new living room with a built-in bookshelves on either side of a fireplace. So, the front port on the Reference line is a big plus to at least try and listen over heritage products. I'm loyal to Klipsch because of my 16 year old pair of Forte IIs that are now matched up with an academy and two KG1.5s in my media room (bought off ebay) So, I have a clear need for two channel speakers in my living room. I've now been to every authorized dealer in Austin Texas. 4 of 'em. (Others are listed but they're out of business for over a year. The list needs a little attention). Ultimate Electronics, Tweeter, Best Buy and a local outfit called A&B TV. Ultimate at least had a pair, but they are wired as rears in a RF7 room. Very cool. Get a chance to hear the reference line. But, I'm pretty well out of luck to hear two channel music from the RB75s. Tweeter, didn't have a pair, Best Buy-no Reference, and A&B only had RB15, RB25, and RB35. I told the salesman at A&B, get some 75s in hear and call me. that was a month ago. I sell in my line of work. This is no way to run a rodeo.
  15. KT: I love my 16 year old forte IIs, academy and KGs. None of which made your list. I haven't heard any other speakers that come close to sounding as good even with a substantial budget. just my opinion. Your initiation of this thread has very little substance. Just somewhat of a loud obnoxious poorly made opinion other than you've had some quality problems. Ok. If your opinion had any kind of substance related to sound quality, it might have a little bit of credance.
  16. IMO it's worty saying that before you spend the xtra bucks on separates, you better have the very finest speakers that your ears enjoy before you spend the next dollar on separates. What do i mean? If you don't already have the finest quality speakers, anyone should seriously consider an upgrade of their speakers before an upgrade to separates from a AVR. IMO you just get more bang for your buck with a speaker upgrade than a separates upgrade. just my $0.02
  17. First, children can freely wander throughout this forum. Second, it's Klipsch' house. Third, thinking that you can't get your point across without using profanity OR crass language is simply laziness. Trying to make an argument that when the moderators ask us to clean up the language is somehow indicative of the "thought police" showing up is silly and the kind of weak argument made by those who can't differentiate between right and wrong. As I use to tell my 8 year old when he was only 4, "Use your words".
  18. One on ebay now. No relation to seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14992&item=5743227322&rd=1
  19. sorry, guess I should have kept going. They are sheilded and will be an appropriate sonic match. There is not really another good sonic match to the KG line of speakers, either discontinued or current.
  20. The KG 2.2V and KG 2.5V are sheilded.
  21. I second the notion that the authorized dealer listing are in accurate. Got a case of a warehouse address instead of a showroom address. Also, an out of business for 6 months listing.
  22. My system consists of all 8 ohm speakers. Academy, Forte IIs, and KG 1.5. If I were to replace the surrounds with 6 ohm (KG4), what would result? I realize that one shouldn't mix impedance, but has anyone ever tried it?
