It's normally more expensive than the other amps you mentioned, but there's one on Audiogon right now for $850. THAT'S A STEAL!!! The seller is in Ft. Worth, TX. Here's a link: MC2205 for $850 Good luck, Rick. ---------------- thanks for the heads up, i just emailed the seller will see where he is at total with shipping joe
  2. here i am again with another crook selling more lies than product, bought a mcintosh mc 2505, from ebay scammer picked the thing up and looks ok, but it has a little distortion from the right channell, seems to clear up after the amp warms up good, would also like to get the left channell meter light replaced, anyone know of a service facility that is above board (not crooks)here on the east coast. i dont think there is much wrong and the guy says bring it back they will fix it but when listed they said was just out of there in house service tech and works fine, not really the type person i want to take this back to for fixing. all help appreciated Joe
  3. 5764870585, this is the ebay item#, looks like a good deal, although im no expert but most audio research gear goes way higher than this price Joe
  4. i must have a different pair of cornwalls or something my room is only 12 x 12, and i set less than 10 feet between the corns, and la scalas, and have had absolutely no problem, with either speaker, sound is huge of course, but also very open and beleive it or not sound stage can be amazeing, i can set back close the eyes and get the seperation of the instruments even to the extent of drum solos each hit of the drums seems to be seperate, just awsome, i have been using mostly ss amps and tube pre-amp, but when i used a ss pre the only harshness was with certain cd's Joe
  5. i am presently using cornwalls and la scalas(i know you are wondering about belles, but la scalas and bells are very close in sound) and the la scalas have better sound hands down, and i cant for the life of me figure out the tripe about poor bass, the la scalas go plenty deep, and you will feel it in the guts or anywhere else Joe
  6. thanks for all the suggestions so far, i know i dont need 2 amps as far as volume goes but my deal is i have 4 pairs of klipsch speakers 2 pr. cornwalls, the la scalas, and the heresys, i use 2 pair in my 2 channell set up, and i dont like to run the speakers in series or parrallel, the vtp allows for 2 amps that way i can run the 4 speakers gary you have a return pm Thanks again to all and keep up the suggestions Joe

I disagree regarding the comments on tube amp tweaking. I'm not sure I'd favor the ST70 but there are many others out there in your price range that are easy (and fun) to maintain and will sound great with your Lascalas and/or Cornwalls. If you're keeping it under 100dbs, you don't need a tremendous amount of power, especially with the Lascalas. ---------------- suggestions for other tube amps in my price range that are considered good please Joe
  8. hey guys i am upgradeing again selling the phase linear gear and trying to decide what will be best SS mac, models, 2505, 250, 2100, 2105, any of the models would suite me as i am sure build quality is about the same between them, not really worried about the wpc either these just seem to be what will be in my budget, or do you find the dynaco 70 tube amp a better amp, and sound i listen to vinyl 90 percent of the time, i listen to classic rock about 99 percent of the time, my listening level is rarely high but i do get to an old favorite song now and then and do like to crank her abit, although still probably not over 100 db. speakers are a pair of la scalas, and a pair of cornwalls, tube type pre-amp vtp101i, i see that guy landau has a dynaco for sale here on the forum, so i would have to find a second one, i prefer to run 2 amps i will tell the truth and say i am leaning twords tubes, but i do like a little bass, nothing obnoxious but a good thump when called for thanks in advance Joe
  9. it can be a PITA to ship such large speakers. that said i have shipped cornwalls and infinity kappa 8, without incident the trick is to pack them correctly, lowes, & HD carry 1.5" sheets of styrofoam surround the speakers with this all 4 sides top and bottom then tightly wrap with cardboard should survive the trip, ups will take them packed like this it is costly though, and it doesnt hurt too mark them fragile, and definately insure them,(the ins. will only pay off if packed properly) that means surrounded with foam as stated above, if you double boxed them the size would be out of the allowable for any of the shippers except freight companys Joe
  10. fred you may want to go back and read some of the threads concerning the sentiment twords bose speakers on this forum, i think you may have better luck selling your bose outright and then buying the klipsch Joe
  11. a ball park figure on original very good condition would be from 900 to 1300, if there is damage such as veneer chipped, bad drivers etc the price goes exponencially down, i have seen sets go as low as 600.00 when rough, and i beleive the highest i have seen sale used were 1800, of course those had hardwood veneer which obviously ups the value a great deal, the raw birch cabs were the cheapest version offered Joe
  12. ---------------- On 3/25/2005 9:30:34 PM Gilbert wrote: If you got a pair or 2 to get rid of....Please PM or Email me. Thanks. ---------------- hello i am in the process of making a set of the risers for paulin, here on the forum, they are solid oak, and i will be sending them to him in the pieces cut to size and drilled where necessary, cost of the risers is 30.00 plus what ever shipping is, i am also includeing instructions with pics of the risers and how they are attached on my cornwalls, pm me if you want a couple sets while im at it with his Joe
  13. jonathan edwards, "sunshine" classic rock lp(vinyl of course), the only way to listen vinyl through klipsch woohoo Joe
  14. hello dont just tighten up the screws likely as not you will end up with stripped screws much better idea to use some weather stripping sylacone will act as a glue after it drys if you use that and when you attempt to remove the backs agian you will probaly damage the finish and or veneer joe
  15. i got a quote to ship la scalas from cali to maryland using forward air all you do is put the speakers on a pallet and shrink wrap them like ctrazy to the pallet with some padding between the speakers the told me 143.00 but you have to pick up at the nearest terminal this was only about three months ago if you can get these shipped for 200.00 or less it is a killer deal both pair of my cornwalls cost in excess of 800.00 and i would not sell them for that joe
  16. i have cornwalls stacked atop my la scalas, and the sound is simply awsome, i also have heresys stacked atop my second pair of cornwalls, and they sound great also, have had no problems at all, the sound gets much larger IMO Joe
  17. yes 1250 is a good price, and i beleive the have al crossovers not sure if it is second or third generation though Joe
  18. van morrison "into the mystic", getting better at listening but still causes the old memories to surface Joe
  19. there have been several threads about this in the past one word of advice, when you cut your veneer make it at least 1/8 inch larger than the actual measurement, get a small rabbit joint planer and trim off the excess to flush, never seems to fail if you cut to exact sizes something ends up off, either due to squareness of the speaker or the material it is not a terriably hard process though and the end results are usually worth while good luck Joe

Can have em out of there by the weekend if we can get together. Michael ---------------- michael, sloooooowly back away from the computer. you said you were broke when you bought the la scalas Joe
  21. wolf how big a sub are you looking for, i have a klipsch model km-s that has just sat around for a few months now, i can let it go pretty cheap, it is in a birch enclosure not black Joe
  22. ---------------- On 3/22/2005 5:00:23 PM Colin wrote: why what is wrong with the VTP101i tube pre amp? ---------------- nothing wrong with the vtp, i was selling my pioneer rt 909 and another member wanted to trade the scott and a couple marantz ma 500 monoblocks, i always wondered what the marantz sounded like and i like the idea that each speaker will have a dedicated amp, at 125 watts, way less than my phase amps but i dont even need the 125 with klipsch, i figured i could use the scott with my phase and set up a sorta ht system thru the aux, and have a second system in the living room i already have a spare set of cornwalls and a spare set of heresy's, just have alot of ideas floating around but wanted another opinion as to what the scott was worth as i know the pioneer is easy 700.00 Joe
  23. ---------------- On 3/22/2005 4:46:42 PM NOSValves wrote: Yup $300 is a reasonable deal. The LC21 doesn't come up often. Craig ---------------- ok i appreciate that especially from you as i have seen several posts that connect you to tube gear, and i know you also build your oun, does this pre give good sound quality especially with the phono section, i would also be using solid state amps for awhile Joe
  24. stuff like this happens because americans are giving up thier freedom by the pound, and most are too happy to allow the government to take care of everything as long as they have a few dollars in there pockets, and live in a fantasy that it will all be ok and that wont happen to me, the so called freedom we have is less and less every day, kids do crazy crap like this because they get no guideance and, and are not MADE TO ACT RESPONSIABLY, the govt morons have people too scared to discipline there kid when they screw up, so the kid goes off thinking wrong is right, then you have the parent or guardian that is just to self indulged to care what the kid is doing, (made to be seen and not heard)let the govt. or the schools take care of them im too busy type attitude, SOCIAL SERVICES REALLY DID A NICE JOB WITH THIS KID DIDNT THEY, they were involved as soon as the kids mother was put away just my opinion Joe
