  1. Well, the c7 is home! First of all, I can't quite believe the size of the beast! I knew the dimensions from the website, but now that it is in the ent. center, it almost makes me laugh! It's HUGE! The difference between this speaker and the 2.2v is amazing. No problem keeping up with my forte's. I also moved some things around, and made room for the 4.2's as surrounds. The overall effect is a more enveloping experience, with a much fuller range signal in the surrounds. I am incredibly satisfied...for now... The WAF was suprising today too. She likes the fact that the 4.2's are Walnut veneer just like my beautiful forte's. (I had to remove an end table to make one of them fit, so I had to comprimise and allow a lamp to be placed on one of the 4.2's. I haven't updated my profile yet, but in my small room (13x17), I found that 7.1 was too much. Phase cancellation was becoming a real problem. So, here is my current 5.1 system being run by my Pioneer 1015. Mains: Original Walnut Oil Forte's Center: KLF C7 Surrounds: KG4.2's Walnut Oil Sub: 12" MTX
  2. Hey Joe, I see you are from my neck of the woods. I live on the west end of the town in Jenison. Where do you hail from? Are there any other Klipsch guys from this forum around us?
  3. Just wanted to let you all in on my excitement. I just bought a Klf c7 and a pair of KG4.2's off of ebay tonight. Best of all, they are less than an hour drive away. I have had a KG2.2 doing center duty for about a year. While I was relatively happy with the 2.2, I am assuming that the KLF will blow it away. Next to an Academy, I am taking the advice I have found on this forum and assuming that it will do a great job between my Forte's. By the way, I will be selling the Walnut 4.2's soon if anyone is interested. (I would love to keep them, but my little living room will not support floorstanders as surrounds.) By the way, I only paid $300 for all three. My research shows that a KLFC7 alone usually goes for about $300 dollars. The 4.2's are just a bonus. The Klipsch speakers are beginning to pile up around here. I used to laugh at you guys when you posted about the myriad of speakers you had lying around your houses. My wife hopes this purchase cures my addiction for at least a little while....[]
  4. I bought a pair of Polk Monitor 5jr+ speaks cheap at a garage sale today. (10 bucks for the pair.) Hooked them up to an old two channel receiver, and was pleasantly suprised. Nice imaging, and suprisingly good bass response out of a pair of bookshelfs. Anybody else have any experience with Polk? Probably will end up selling them to support my Klipsch habit.....
  5. Thank you Olorin! It's nice to see someone stand up for the old KJV! Many of the most quoted cliches and phrases are verses taken from the bible, misquoted and then misapplied... Still a funny equation though...
  6. Tried both of those url's. One of them is a guys personal family website, the other brings up a forbidden page alert from the server....
  7. Just passed several gas stations at lunch. Regular unleaded is at 3.49 here in Western Michigan. Ouch!!! I bet SUV sales are slumpin....
  8. It will be the PS3 for me. I have enjoyed both the PS1 and the PS2. The few times I have tried to play an xbox, I hated it....Just a personal preference... I find it interesting that the only vote for the new xbox written about here has nothing to say except "babyyyyy" How about someone to extol the virtues of the machine, or the original xbox for that matter... I too will wait to buy the console until it has drastically reduced in price... Only rich men and fools buy new technology when it immediately becomes available....too many glitches, too high a price... DVD players for instance...How many of you spent hundreds of dollars on a DVD player that has less features than the $40 units available @ Wally World. It takes some patience, but I almost always come out ahead by not purchasing new technology when it is new.

    Cheap Ram?

Keep an eye out for the office supply stores to have a sale on cheap ram. My Gateway notebook came from the factory with 512k. For 30 bucks a stick, Office Max had Kingston 512 sticks onsale. I bought 2. A full Gig of extra ram for just over 60 bucks...that's really hard to beat. I would think you could get a lot of ram for 200 bucks...just be patient.
  10. In my area, (Michigan), DSL is only 14.95 a month through SBC Yahoo. Not a promotional rate either. Rate is guaranteed for a full year. In my area, there is no excuse to still be on dial up. I was paying 16.95 for dial up until about 6 months ago. I will never go back... I used a US Robotics v92 modem prior to that, and never had any trouble with it...
  11. Keep your eyes peeled on ebay. They come up every so often. Also put the KG2.2 in your search. As far as I know, they are identical speakers, with the 2.5 prduced from 1997-1999, and the 2.2 produced from 1994-1997. If you don't need the video sheilded variety, you can get by with a 2.2 or 2.5 without the "v" designation. You can often get a pair of 2.2's for the price of one 2.2v. By the way, what speakers are you go to mate this 2.5 with. I have a HT with Forte's as mains, and KG2.2's the rest of the way around, and am very happy with it.
  12. I am a Bill Murray fan. Caddyshack was great, but add to that list: What about Bob?--I still laugh everytime I see it. Richard Dreyfuss as the frustrated psychologist is great too... Groundhog Day--This is one of those movies that got trashed in the press, but has become a part of American thought. What is the first thing that comes to your mind now every Feb.2? For me, it is Bill Murray stealing the woodchuck and a pickup truck and driving off the cliff into the strip mine as he tries to escape the never ending day....
  13. My opinion...sell the KG2's and use the money to help with adding a sub. A sub will give you a great added dimension. Moving to 7 is a lofty goal, but the difference you notice will be much more pronounced by adding a sub to that system of yours.
  14. I see what you are talking about...My WO Forte 1's have a square compartment where the terminals are in the back. Can you give us a picture with the grill off? Then we could really tell what they are. That passive woofer on the back looks like the a 15 incher. If so, you have forte 2's, and the sensitivity is 99db, not 98. If it is a original forte, I would like to know the difference, if any, between the ones with the square terminal box and the round one.--Did they just run out of one type, or are they from different years of production? Things that make you go hmmm!??

Looks like I have an Academy center to find then some KG 2.5v for my effects. Thanks Bash ---------------- Don't waste money on the video shielded variety for your surrounds. The models without the v sound the same, but usually go for much cheaper...
  16. ditto on the Kg2.2 or 2.5v Great sounding speaker, great price. Best bang for buck in the Klipsch Line. BTW the new Synergy subs at Best Buy have been getting rave reviews. It would probably compliment your 5.5's very well.
  17. Here's one from a genre that doesn't get much mention on this weekly thread. "The New Hymnmakers" Vol 2. Stuart Townend. Recorded and many of the great cathedrals in Great Britain. Great Choirs. Great Organs. (The organs sound great on big horns!) Great new hymns written in the last decade by Stuart Townend. There seems to be a good revival of hymn writing in the last several years. A move of away from the 3-7-11 chorus ditties that have dominated evangelical church music for the last dozen years. (3-7-11 song= 3 guitar chords, 7 words, repeated 11 times. )
  18. Minus an academy, here is a my line up of center choices. 1. Klf c7 2. KG2.2 or 2.5v (I use a 2.2v between my fortes and am pretty happy with it.) As a matter of fact, I use KG2.2's all the way around (except for the forte mains)in a 7.1 setup. I love this setup. Very clean , in your face sound IMHO. Other speakers are better of course if you have the room. I have talked to others who have had successs with smaller KGs for surround as well. The 2.2 is a nice choice if you don't have the money for a good heresy or an academy. You can regularly pick up a pair of 2.2's for less than 200 on ebay, and a 2.2 or 2.5 v for about 150. (By the way, the difference between the 2.2 and the 2.5 isjust the year they were made...the 2.5 took over in 1997 i believe.)
  19. Thanks Guys! In knew it had to be pretty simple, but could not seem to come up with anything that made any sense.
  20. I have been hanging out around this and other bulletin boards for a while, and have figured out most of the abbreviations that are used. I.E... LMAO, IMHO, lol, rotflol, etc. But for the life of me, I can't figure out YMMV. It seems to be only on this board that I find it being used. Can somebody help me please!
  21. Just a heads up. No relation to seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5778913443&fromMakeTrack=true If I was in the market I would certainly jump on these. They look great. I am less than 10 miles from this auction. I can check them out for someone if they are interested.
  22. I have the same unit you do, and have never had a problem. Reads any disc I can throw at it, and it sounds pretty good. As others have said, make sure the disc is facing the right way.
  23. I love the Forte's. If you can get an academy center, that will be the perfect match (especially for the Forte II.) If you don't have room for more fortes for the surround, try some KG 2.2's or 2.5's. They sound great IMHO.
