  1. I included an updated picture, of the left and right main in the front. I have noticed they give a much better soundstage this way, my original pics are on page 15. Also added room treatment. Thanks
  2. "I have a DVD player with multichannel outputs (I have only used it for SACD and DVD-A). Is it better to used the multichannel input on my receiver and let the DVD player do the DTS work or stick with my fiber optic connection and let my receiver to the work?" It depends on which component has better DACs/Bass Management/srround processing options. Usually that is your receiver, especially for bass management and speaker distances, etc, so if that is the case go digital out from your DVD player to your receiver. That said you may still need/want 6 channel anaolg connections in to your receiver (the DVD is doing the processing) for SACDs. Very few digital connections handle SACDs and fewer receivers have the decoder.
  3. RickB I noticed the price increased January, still after reading these two posts now I want it. I did the like the picture on the DLP at the store and I read about the up convert to 720P which is the native resolution of my DLP, believe my current Samsung player only does 520. I will see if I can get some in store credit to with it. Can't wait till ytr the Denon link as well. Thank you for the responses
  4. tkd - BTW nice pictures of your HT forum, very nice, must get killer bass from the two subs, but have a much better idea of what you were describing in your PM. Thank for the response and the thread. I have really want to hear the Dark Side of the Moon in SACD. You can go to www.DTS.com and order DVD- A directly if you cant find them in retail, but I know there are many more SACDs out there, which I have not been able to really listen too. Part of my problem is my receiver and DVD changer is about 24 feet (cables length around the wall) from the DLP. So I used an optical cable to get digital sound to the receiver and HDMI to get the picture from the Samsung DVD player, which is in the TV stand, above the Comcast cable box. The other components are in a built in shelf (which has room for the 3910) and the shelf could not be closer given how the foundation was when we finished the room. I kind of like not seeing the lights, since the shelf is behind the seating position. Well I ordered a long HDMI cable from Bluejeans Cable today to solve that problem. Your right with the six cables to listen to SACD, which is another reason I was looking at the 3910 for the Brown Burr D/As, since the receiver has them its why I went with a cheaper alternative at first.
  5. Congratulations on your Khorns, now that you have them (and a very good looking based on your previous thread) what do you dream about now?
  6. Was looking to see if anyone owns this unit and get their opinions after having spent some time with it. I am looking to upgrade and have spent some time listening to at the local audio store. Right now I have a lower end Denon changer which does not have the DVD or HDMI output. I use a Samsung DVD player for movies and actually started using it for music as well (think it sounds better), it that up converts the picture and brought when I brought my DLP, check profile for detail. I cant do a direct comparison in terms of picture but I did see the 3910 on a Samsung DLP in the store and it looks really very good. I have looked at a few other brands such as Onkyo and Sony, but would like to use the Denon link, though not a 100% sold. I have read good reviews but would like to hear from someone who actually ownes one for more info. Looks great but may be worth to wait it out and go for something else.
  7. Looks like the last time that thing was shipped, the ship sunk. Your going to pay $100 for something that looks like your going to have replace 90% of the parts to.
  8. The Last Waltz The Wall The Commitments Ray The Doors
  9. I would like to know why, male members have pictures of females as their avatars, its just not make sense unless of course they are cross dressers, which you know if that is the case then to each their own. I don't get it. Oh well.
  10. Nice post, would agree the RF7s are awesome IMO. Very happy they are working for you. Couple of questions, what were the other amps your heard the FR7s on prior to the Rotel. Sounds like you have an amazing room, 30 by 40 wow, can you please post pictures, very envious to have thet kind of space for music. Would also be interested in what you listened to. Congratulations on getting your speakers home, could not agree more that Klipsch is it.
  11. Wow great story, thank you for posting it. Your pictures look great you really got a nice looking pair. Now that you have joined the big league you gave to share with the rest of us how they sound. Very cool of the other members to help you out the way they did. Envious big time. What is the width of your HT room? Thank you
  12. "Does this mean I have the wrong receiver for the job?" Not at all, I agree with gcoker, set the cross over at 80, disable the low bypass on your sub. If you still want to send lower bass to the Cornwalls, set the 'LFE or LFE + Mains' to LFE+Mains. It you allow the RSW12 to handle everything below 80hz, you will be making your 1803 basically into a more powerful receiver, amp wise, because all of its power is being used for signals 80hz and above. That said after you spend some time on the forum you will come across many people have upgraded to a separate amp drive to their speakers and just use the receiver as a pre-amp, but enjoy what you have for now.
  13. "CD drive is Teac P0, Upsampling and clock master done by DCS, Room correction done by TACT RCS2.0, Dogital Pream is Accuphase." In the pictures I did not see any dogs.
  14. Hi Michael That description of pet owners in your post is unacceptable and sad. I am sure I will be labeled a looser because my wife and I have no children so we treat our pugs pretty well. We both really love them very much. We may eventually have kids but until then practice makes perfect. Its funny there have been only about 2 cats that I have ever liked and it is because they acted like typical dogs. FYI Pugs are not small twitty dogs, they act very much like larger dogs and are very self-assured and I grew up with Collies and Goldens. Do HillBilys equal Amish where you like?
  15. Ok last night I changed my mind, I changed the settings to be LFE+mains, with the cross over still set to 60hz. I moved the seating over so I was in the sweet spot and plied my self with a few beers during the process. I moved the RF7s more in the corners and toed them in and I moved the RSW15 in between the right Rf7 and the Samsung. I have to say U2 and Clapton sounded awesome. The base was full and controlled (more so then when the sub was in the corner and the sound stage is much bigger). You could hear each pluck of the bass guitar and the punch of the bass drum with no over hang. When I turned it up, above -17 on the Denon, I could feel the bass in my chest. The Denon handled the low ohm bass load for the RF7s, well down to 60hz with ease. The Clapton's guitar solos were clean/goose bumply while Bono's voice was awesome. I have so much fun when my wife is out fo town.
  16. I would say your dog needs a pal. I have seen a few posts describe our hobby as lonely, but I disagree. Every time my wife goes upstairs to bed I hang out with Lucy (right) and Elle (on the left). They come down and sit on my lap while I listen music or watch concerts. Since they have each other they dont try and chew on cables and such. The biggest issue is sometimes they snore, if I stay up too long so do I. Your dog may be a bit old for a new friend, so perhaps let play on the highway otherwise consider it.
  17. hydebee Are you the guy selling speakers which "I am not sure who makes them, but they come with the manufacturer's warranty", you know the ones that weight 40lbs but are better then the RF7s? Those were BIC right? If so your right I have a Rolls Royce, actually a OLDs88 w/ some rust, with a really nice ride, much better then the Rolls.
  18. "my theater in a room at my house that measures approximately 14(w)x20(d)" Go with the RSW15, its not over kill. Three of them in that room might be overkill. That is not a knock the RSW15 at all being underpowered, its IMHO awesome. For subs its better to over gun then over drive it. Its better to drive it on ave at 30% then at 85% (higher means too much distortion) and wish you had got something bigger. That was where I was at with my last Velodyne FSR 12. RSW15 is great at surround sound movies/DVD concerts and 2 channel music.
  19. "There you have it. You have summed up exactly why you should have bought the KLF 30s. They had everything you wanted....oh well. At least you have tried the RF-7s now. You most likely will miss the two horns of the KLF series but, no matter what, at least you bought Klipsch! I just thought I'd help you deal with your case of buyers remorse. I'm just a real nice guy like that......:)" As stated above, keep reading. IMHO the RF7s are awesome.
  20. I think they made a big mistake not jumping on the DLP second or third generation. My guess is they felt why should SONY pay Texas Instruments a fee for it. Its one reason Samsung is having thier lunch in the large screen market.
  21. "That's why I love her so!" -- Same Guy Short people got no reason to live - same dude
  22. Assume you mean powered. Questions: What is the size of your room? What are your listening tastes? types of music, etc.
  23. Good luck in search and welcome back. I have RF7s with a RSW15. The RSW15 makes a great thing excellent. Its also magnetically shielded if you place them next to a TV if your into concert DVDs, movies etc. You can't go wrong with La Scalas or the KLF30s IMHO either. What speakers did you end up replacing your Choruses with?
  24. Congrats, after the break in please respond with your impressions.
