  1. I prefer the Chorus II to any Cornwalls that I've heard...good luck with your choice Bill
  2. I appreciate that you provided a link to some testing and can only reply that similar testing that I was present for matches up with what beaz posted...I would add that 9mm is not the be all end all but then really there probably isn't a handgun round that is...in the testing that I was at 357 SIG did keep its jacket and stay together better than non bonded 9mm jacketed rounds did but I think that is part of the reason for bonded rounds and remind that it was easier (but still not easy) to go from the inside out than the outside in...anyway...I think this goes to show how much stock you can put into field testing as an indicator or actual field performance... Bill
  3. Aaron is correct and shooting from the inside out is far easier than the outside in as I believe I recall it having something to do with the laminations...9mm is no longer the weak sister it was once thought to be...as beaz1591 mentioned above as well... Bill
  4. are yours Vertical Cornwalls (IIs)???...I don't believe those are of the right vintage to be the newer Cornwall IIs... Bill
  5. Dr. Bill's (not me) recipe': *remember fire hazard* BLO heats up as it dries so any rags and whatnot should be thouroughly washed with water and soap and disposed of safely...preferrably outside... the Drs. recipe' IIRC: 3 parts Gum Turpentine to 1 part BLO...I found mine at Home Depot but should be able to find anywhere...good luck but wanted to share...Do only in a well ventilated area... Bill
  6. I think he was originally from New York and his Family moved to Canada... Bill
  7. a great intellect that enjoyed speaking and learning from everyone... Bill
  8. add Diana Krall and her CDs are usually very well recorded and Margo Timmins/Cowboy Junkies...syrupy sweet and smooth voice Bill
  9. nice to hear the differences in DVD and Blu-Ray...I also seem to prefer DTS in all it's versions over DD...thanks everyone for your insight and help...always tweaking Bill
  10. mine is not an Artist's Proof and the second number is /1000 Bill
  11. I’ve noticed that as well. Great point dtel Bill
  12. listened to a few DVDs last night (several episodes of Band of Brothers) and they sounded very nice...it seems to be the poor broadcast quality of some stations that I listen to...I have noticed on some that the receiver shows 2.0 instead of anything 5.1 or better... Thanks Bill
  13. not sure with your set up but I can run the TV while the AVR set for CD or DVD (or I suspect AM/FM) listening to music...on my TV there usually is a source to pick in the menu and I leave it on TV (or U-verse in my case) while leaving the AVR (Panasonic SA-XR) on CD or DVD and the Blue-Ray (Opportunity BDP-83) playing the music... Hopefully my poor attempt helps a bit or at least bumps your question to the top and someone more articulate than I adds their 2 cents... Bill
  14. That poster had read specs for a 20 watt receiver...not the right one. I appreciate all the help everyone. It’s how I learn. Thanks Bill
  15. I’m just using L C R...no sub or surrounds in this system thanks Bill
  16. Sure I get that but if it sounds good using a recorded movie but doesn’t when using the TV shouldn’t the problem be the source and not the equipment??? I mean if it’s the equipment that is the issue it should sound just as bad in a DVD or Blu-Ray I’ve e also noticed some HD channels are only broadcasting 2.0 while others are probably a lower Dolby Digital rather than my preferred DTS Bill
  17. That’s ok. You guys opened my eyes to this so THANKS! Bill
  18. I see that this AVR is a weak link. Thanks for the help everyone Bill
  19. How I read the owners manual there are 6 amps and each are 100wpc. At least that’s what I see in it. It shows L/R 100wpc, Center 100wpc and i’m not using the surrounds but it shows 100wpc for those too as well as 100wpc ror rear surrounds I’m also not using... as for the outlaw, I have no complaints even when just watching TV which I rarely do on that HT... I think its more a symptom of the programs I’m receiving or listening to
  20. Maybe I’m just asking too much of this ststem...I am using the optical/toslink connection TV to the AVR Bill
  21. where are you finding the 20wpc for the Panasonic...it is 100wpc for each channel at 6ohms listed in the owner's manual...did you look up the SA-XR57??? Bill
  22. I do have it set to 5.1 in the U-Verse menue but I have seen this default to stereo with my previous box
  23. Perhaps I should listen to TV on the Home Theatre to compare these two...Duh...don’t know why this just occurred to me
  24. 100wpc should be fine or am I still missing it??? my Home Theater Outlaw 1070 is only 75wpc and sounds great
