Now days, many listeners put them on stands to get the tweets up to ear level like the other Heritage. This makes the Heresy relatively hot because maybe they were really voiced for the floor? This might explain why so many find the best sound after mods, and may vindicate acusations that PWK was hard of hearing (a real heresy!). ---------------- ...Interesting that you mention this...I have 2 pair of Heresys...with the first set ('78s), I had been experimenting with them on the floor or about a foot off the floor angled a bit up (on stands) and found I liked them a bit better on stands...last night I got my second set of Heresys ('81)and they have the level (not angled) factory risers and I really like how they sound...a bit different than the '78s on the stands...more experimentation is warranted! Thanks, bill
  2. dodger: I appreciate the mention...it's no problem though...some of you had a nice thread going and I "cut in." Sometimes you aren't acknowledged because others feel you "butted in" sometimes because others feel you don't have anything to contribute or they are just ignoring you (elitist) or maybe I just didn't add anything to the soup as it were...I was just stating my opinion from what I had read and my experience...you like it or you don't...no worries here. Bill

Since coming here I have purchased or re-acquired a set of Klipsch Heresies, Synergy Premieres, a Consonance M100SE tube amp, an Eico HF-81, a vintage Pioneer receiver, a Technics turntable, and my old record collection. Wait until you bite on the tube amps... ---------------- Haaaa...interesting that you say that! I have my father's Sherwood S1000 amp and an Eico HFT92 tuner...I am afraid to get started on bringing this back to life (actually it worked last time I tried about 10 years ago...) Thanks, Bill

  5. ...just recieved VIA FedEx my "new" 1981 Heresys in Walnut Oil finish...very nice veneer...unlike my "walnut finish" Birch Raw 1978 Heresys...visually...but they sound just as sweet! I have been here just about 1 month...I started all set to buy Klipsch Synergy F3s (mains, center and surrounds) and fell into a local ebay purchase of 78 Heresys...loved 'em so much, two nice Forumites here (dodger and Redtop) put me on to a beautiful set of '81 walnut oiled Heresys... I am listening to John Mayer (Heavier Things) who can really play guitar and his recordings seem very clean to me... Just thought I would share with you what 230 some posts and all your advice have wrought...since coming here I have purchased: Outlaw Audio 950 Processor Outlaw Audio 7100 100 X 7 all channels driven Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Sub Klipsch KLF-C7 BA Center Klipsch Academy OO Center Klipsch KSF-S5 white Surrounds Klipsch Heresy 1978 BR (walnut stain) Klipsch Heresy 1981 WO (Walnut Oil) Inexpensive but nicer non-Mon*ter cables (RCA brand Digital Cables) Thanks for all the help. 6. WIN: Same here...scarier is the message than the cause, I suspect... Bill
  7. Dr. Who...Though I do not believe it was your intent...you insult a lot of people when you say it is too hard to use...I also feel that if its use was truly "better" than the powers that be would MAKE it work easier...4 weeks ago, I did not know how to configure HT...now it's not so bad...I am NOT saying that it is either good or bad, I am just saying that when improvements come along that are clearly BETTER that somehow the engineers will find a way to make it easy to operate...even for us idiots who find the proper way to operate such things beyond our capabilities... I do agree that we seem to maximize enjoyment SOMETIMES at the cost of accuracy...(...some audiophiles look for accuracy at any cost, even at enjoyment and I suspect that might be the cause for some lively discussion...just like this has...) Just my .02 Bill
  8. ...intersting thoughts...I too believe that if it was REALLY the best thing out there...EVERYONE would be using it...that said...we are all trying to "hear" what we THINK the artist/musician/etcetera was sending...this goes through many channels until it reaches the "end user" (Us) and WE decide if this is acceptable to our listening environment...that's why there isn't one speaker, one amp, one tuner, one processor, etc...if there was one true best sound reproducer...we would all, like lemmings be purchasing it...some do get closer than others and I think that is why most of us here like Klipsch...we CAN have differences of opinion and we can BOTH be right as it pertains to our preferences...nobody here is going to tell me I am wrong...I do however keep an open mind to those who have more EXPERIENCE as their point of view manytimes carries more weight than my bias...just a thought and my .02 Bill
  9. dodger: Nah...just wondered if the guy who won the Paradigms was bigger n me... ...since they're comin' to Chi'Town anyway... Bill
  10. As someone who is relatively new here (just about a month) I know I asked A LOT of questions...I was all set to get a Synergy F-3 system and I am sure if I had that I would have been happy with it...several posted here about listening (again) to the Heritage line...having a pair of KG2s (I know, NOT Heritage) and having heard Heresy IIs often enough, I gave this a re-listen...I will say that MANY here helped me along in my choice and there were compelling arguments on both sides...I will also state that I got many responses from a select few who fumed over my choice (I do NOT mean those kind few who took the time to e-mail me...I REALLY appreciated your points of view) or who scoffed at my "juvenile questions" (what, you weren't born with full knowledge of Quantum Physics, you Cad!) I think this place is great, I have bought MANY more Klipsch speakers than I intended, learned of the great deals to be had on ebay and the rips there as well and found a nice little community here where people seem to really want to help their fellow hobbyists and to forward the craft. I hope it remains this way, we will survive the Winter. Just my .02 Bill
  11. As always, Gil...interesting and thanks for sharing! Bill
  12. ...as will be Heresys (can you tell I like Heresys???) Welcome to the Forum! Bill
  13. Win: Wotta night, wotta guy...always helping...dontcha just love bosses who yell to show their authority??? I always thought it best to get the story first then decide who might be right or wrong...then work on fixing the problem so it doesn't happen again...so many want to find someone (other than themselves) to blame than to find out that problem is and to fix the problem... Stay safe. (when there's trouble at a neighborhood hockey game, Win slips into a nearby phone booth to reappear as "dodger"...fighter for the oppressed, weary and put upon...following the principles of truth, justice and the American way!...look, up in the sky...itza bird, itz plane, itza frog...nope itza bird! Bill
  14. 3 seconds into "Low spark of high heeled boys" and you will say "Oh, THAT's Traffic!" Lotta drummers jammin in the sky tonight. Bill
  15. ...so dodger...did you leave with the jersey (you know that's gotta be tuff to say when you're from New Yawk or the cash??? I think it is the same speakers...I don't believe he has sold 3 pairs...no one seems to care that they may have been Todd's (he offers no proof, just his word.) Bill
  16. Bot saying that it is right but then why do almost all manufacturers of speakers say your fronts (mains or mains and center) should have the same length??? Is this just one more "old wive's tale" perpetuated by the high price speaker cable conspiracy theorists??? Bill
  17. See? That wasn't SO bad was it??? I appreciate what you are all telling me...When my brother bought his Heresy IIs and thought of HT in the future, he was told to buy the Academy for a center (perhaps the closest center Klipsch was selling at the time? I dunno)...when he bought, Klipsch was no longer selling the Academy so he opted (with their recommendation) to get the KLF-C7...I have heard movies and music at his house on this combination and it sounds good to my ear...(maybe just THAT much better than TV sound but...you see where I'm going)...Now I have ventured into HT for the 1st time...I have the following: Outlaw Audio 950 Processor Outlaw Audio 7100 7 X 100wpc amp 1 pair of Heresys 1978 Vintage 1 pair of Heresys 1981 Vintage (soon to be in my possession I hope!) 1 pair of KSF-S5 surrounds (as I did not think I would find Heresys again) 1 KLF-C7 Center 1 Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Sub I will try the Heresy for a center to see how it sounds for my movies...I plan to listen to music in 2 channel unless I find I am "missing something" not listening in "multi channel. I will set up my Nakamichi 2 channel in an upstairs bedroom, presumably with one of the pairs of Heresys (both originals so, 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other) I have a line on an Academy... I am trying to decide based on space used in a 11' X 18' viewing area (basement family room) and my intention was Heresy mains, Academy or KLF-C7 center (unless the Heresy center blows me away) and KSF-S5s for rear surrounds (up high, off the floor taking up less space) Unless rear Heresys "blow me away". A month ago, I was buying Synergy F3 system and I made the jump here to the Heresy jungle ... so this was my thinking. I really appreciate you all taking the time with sharing your experience. Bill
  18. Thank you for your answer...I haven't listened to a Heresy as a center channel...I have heard the Academy and the KLF-C7...Yes, the Academy is the "in" speaker and sounded great (to me) with the Heresys...so did the KLF-C7...just makes me wonder what all the hubub is over the academy (other than the traditional match) of the Academy when the KLF-C7 is so close...and how much "better" the Heresy mihgt be... Bill
  19. ...don't know the seller or the product incidentals...just saw it list in the recently listed under Klipsch...it looks to be black. Item #5747693212 if my eyes are working correctly...out in NV. Bill
  20. I keep hearing how Fortes are really Heresys with more bass (presumably from the passive radiator out back) if this is true, why wouldn't an Academy be a good center with Heresys as well as Fortes??? I ask your opinion because some of you have or had Heresys AND Academys as well as Fortes...I have heard the Academy center with Heresys although not properly spaced (someone trying them out) and I thought it sounded good...for that matter, the KLF-C7 sounded good as well but a bit more up front... Thanks, Bill (perhaps I will finally realize that Heresys all over the place is the number #1 answer, what's number #2???)
