  1. I personally wouldn't be too excited about an 8" subwoofer, free or not.
  2. I knew it. Happens a lot on sound mixes. Lots of voices are mixed too hot or something in the studio or recording process and causes some vocal distortions. It is annoying and unfortunately Klipsch speakers faithfully reproduce whatever they are given for material. In most instances that is a good thing, but garbage in, garbage out as they say.
  3. "What's that, honey? You want to leave for the weekend to stay at a friend's house? Aw, and I was looking forward to spending all weekend with you listening to the Fortes at whisper level. Well, have fun!"
  4. Turn off the center speaker in your receiver's menu so that your front speakers are playing what the center speaker would have been playing. I'd be 99.9% positive you still hear what you've been hearing. Let us know.
  5. Something like the three channel Emotiva XPA-3 would be an amp to consider. http://emotiva.com/xpa3.shtm The seven channel XPA-7 is only $100 more than the XPA-3. You probably would be fine running the front three from the XPA-3 and the rest of the speakers off your receiver. What kind of sub do you have?
  6. The SVS will slaughter the RSW-15 down low where LFE resides.
  7. I thought about asking for a listening session but felt awkward doing so. I don't know why. I remember Duke Spinner calling Forte IIs mini-Khorns. We're planning on selling our house next year and one requirement will be a much wider room for the home theater. Our basement room now is long and narrow. I used my Fortes to DJ a couple wedding dances in large ballrooms and they filled the room nicely and sounded amazing.
  8. As with the Reference line, its probable that Klipsch will make new models within the Synergy line.
  9. If things at work turn out like I hope, I'll be getting the UMC-1 along with a multi-channel amp after Christmas. I CAN'T WAIT.

    LCD TV

120Hz with true 5:5 pulldown was designed more for DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray than cable/satellite/etc. Once you see a 24fps signal displayed in such a manner you'll be quite impressed.
  11. YOU have been a Klipsch folded horn speaker for 30 years? Wow, that must be some disguise! []
  12. http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/mbm-12mk2.html Had one and loved it. Perfect match with a deep-digging sub like SVS.
  13. A long time customer at work stopped by the other day. I'm not sure how we got on the subject but at some point our conversation steered towards electronics and he mentioned that his audio system consisted of vintage amps, tube amps, turntables, etc. I asked him what speakers he used and he said "I have a pair of Klipsch cornerhorns, Khorns." Turns out he bought them brand new in the 1980s. We chatted about Klipsch for a while and he said his friends have had LaScalas and Belles. He said that the Khorns are in a 2 channel setup and he also has a Reference series setup for home theater. I told him I was jealous and that I've never even heard a pair of Khorns. He said the imaging they provide is incredible, being able to close your eyes and tell where each instrument was placed during the recording. Its rare that I bump into someone who even knows what Klipsch speakers are, let alone someone who owns Khorns with a complete tube system!

I would bet if you have a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player that will feed your TV a 24fps signal you'll be able to see the difference. That is, as long as your TV can correctly perform a 5:5 pulldown of a 24fps signal. 120Hz doesn't really help with regular TV broadcasts. My best friend has a Sony Bravia XBR4 and if you're watching a Blu-Ray disc you won't believe how smooth camera pans are, it looks unbelievable.
  15. Have you noticed that everything else in our world has gone up in price? [] The Icon speakers are very, very nice speakers. Read the details about the WF-35: http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/wf-35-overview/ Just this part makes me know that a lot of time and attention go into the Icon series: "The WF-35 cabinet is carefully sanded, sealed and stained. Much like in high-end furniture manufacturing, the stain is then top coated with a polyurethane finish. This spray application involves 10 coats, with sanding in-between each coat to achieve the proper thickness. The cabinet is also inspected at every sanding level to ensure clarity over the stained veneer."
  16. If you select "Direct" everything such as Audyssey, bass management, speaker distance, etc. is bypassed by the receiver. I wouldn't recommend using "Direct" unless you're listening to an audio CD in 2 channel and want to listen to your front speakers full-range without a sub. So, if you're watching a 5.1 Blu-Ray disc and select "Direct" it will only output 5.1 sound since that's what's coming into the receiver. MultiCh will be 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, etc., whatever the disc is encoded with.
  17. Not sure on your first question but as far as your second question, it would be best to have the C3 to match F3 fronts. S2s would work fine as surrounds. Matching the front 3 speakers as closely as possible is very important for the best blending of sound between them. Places like http://www.vanns.com have been clearancing out the C3s for under $200.
  18. To listen to HD Audio codecs with the PS3/805 combo: PS3 set to Linear PCM, not Bitstream on audio output menu. Select DTS-Master/TrueHD/etc. on the Blu-Ray disc's audio or language menu. Set your 805 to MultiCh. You can listen to THX Cinema, etc and still be hearing the HD audio codec, its just that the receiver is tweaking the signal for its different surround modes. If you want to listen without any re-mixing of audio by the receiver then MultiCh is the format to select. The 805 will never display DTS-HD or any HD audio since the PS3 cannot Bitstream that signal. Unless you have the new PS3 slim, that is. As long as a receiver can handle Multi-Channel PCM through an HDMI connection the PS3 is passing the HD audio signal through. If you really want to have the receiver's DTS-HD indicator light up, look at getting the new PS3 slim. []
  19. Welcome to the forums Jake! In terms of class level: 1) Reference 2) Icon 3) Synergy There are different materials used in each series' tweeters and woofers. Some have real wood veneers. All will give excellent sound.
  20. My Marantz receiver was a huge step up in music reproduction from the Onkyo TX-SR805 I had before it. The Onkyo kicked butt in home theater, the Marantz does home theater and music superbly.
  21. I have my sub behind me, about 6" from the rear wall and about 2 feet from the closest side wall. Works great, in my room gives me MUCH more output than anywhere around my front speakers ever did. I would highly encourage the Sub-12 for your setup. Your F3s will output a good amount of bass but a capable subwoofer can make or break a good audio setup.
  22. I'd be more inclined to look at stands that let the S3 sit on top of a small platform. Although, your S3s probably have some sort of wall-mount setup in the back of them so a stand that accomodates connecting them to the wall-mount part would work fine as long as its rated for at least the weight of the speaker.
  23. They're probably fine where they are, but I would move your RF towers farther apart, as far as they can go. That will open up the front soundstage a lot.
  24. If you want more punch just turn up the output level of the sub. Automatic setups such as MCACC will balance all the speakers in a setup to outupt the same dB level. Most people want more ooomph from their sub than that so go ahead and turn the sub's output up slightly or boost it slightly in your receiver's sub output setting menu. Also, make sure to set your RF-62s to Small in case MCACC set them to Large. Turn the crossover level on the subwoofer itself as high as it can go (usually 120-150Hz) and set it to 80Hz in your receiver's menu.
