  1. If your DVD player has an option to output Bitstream or PCM, set it to whatever the opposite of what its set now and see if that helps.
  2. Well, my wife and I are planning a trip to Yellowstone this summer via Rapid City. If you end up not wanting the pair I'd gladly pay you what you paid for them to use them as my side surrounds. []
  3. Does your TV have a stand where you could set it on top of the Forte? It would definitely support the weight of the TV and then you won't have to wall-mount it. I haven't heard boo from the guy who bought my Quartet, I'm assuming he got it in good condition but he's never answered any of my emails to him about it. Even though a Quartet and Forte II share drivers and have similar components I think you'll like having three exact matching speakers across the front much better. If I would have had an ideal setup for my Quartet I would have kept it but it was just so huge of a speaker that it would have meant getting a different TV or a totally different TV stand and I didn't want to do that just to accomodate a center speaker. I'm actually enjoying my 4.1 (4.2?) setup better than I did with the Quartet. The Quartet was so huge sitting in front of my TV that with it gone my TV looks a lot bigger now. []
  4. My advice would be to use the money from the 2805 and buy a PS3 for Blu-Ray. [Y]
  5. I would just get a basic two-channel receiver that's sometimes referred to as an integrated amp. Companies such as Denon, Harman/Kardon and Onkyo all sell two channel receivers that will work perfectly for you and you can usually find them new/used in the $149-$349 range. You can get a two channel Onkyo TX-8255 receiver for $139 shipped directly through Onkyo: http://shoponkyo.com/detail.cfm?productid=TX-8255&modelid=15&group_id=1&detail=1&ext_war=1 %20front.jpg' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Its factory refurbished but so was my Onkyo 805 and I've had zero problems with it and it was in 10/10 condition. They ship anything that's over $99 for free and when you first sign up for shoponkyo they give you a $10 credit so it'll actually only cost $129.
  6. I've never heard of it being a problem using a speaker that has a higher numerical ohm rating than the amplifier's recommended ohm rating. A speaker that's numerically lower on the other hand might cause some issues. On my Onkyo the setup menu lets you choose only between 4 and 6 ohm.

Very cute and the LFE gave my Ultras a nice workout!
  8. I think you got a great deal, although that's what I paid for my 9/10 Forte IIs. []
  9. Yes, I believe more than one Klipsch center speaker uses the Tapered Array design.
  10. As long as all the drivers work and the speaker is in excellent physical condition $320 USD would be a steal for it.
  11. If you can get it for a good price, do it. Most say that the 64 is much smoother than a 7. Some have compared a 64 to a 7 that's had crossover network upgrades. I don't think you'd regret it, plus you can sell your 35 to help pay for the 64.
  12. I re-used the factory wire when I installed new crossover networks in my Forte IIs. I'm not sure of the gauge but it definitely was thin. For that short of a run it isn't a big deal. If you want to change it out, go ahead. http://www.monoprice.com is a great site for quality wire on the cheap.
  13. First pro gear for me is the Samson S1000 amp powering my SVS CS-Ultras. I couldn't believe how heavy the sucker is! Only took a less than $20 cable from monoprice to connect it properly to my receiver. The only feature I don't like is that the fans are always on. I don't really notice them during music or movies since I generally listen at very high volume levels. I would imagine that the fact that it was designed to be rack-mounted it can be put in a very tight space without a problem? I'm considering shoving it underneath my sectional to help quiet the fan noise.

  15. After getting a shielded RCA to XLR cord, spending time setting up the levels and positioning of the subs I can truthfully say that these are some incredible subs. I threw in the Beastie Boys 'Hello Nasty' which features some ultra-low and loud bass. One bass note scared me it was so loud. I was watching my Samson amp's LEDs the whole time and still have never made the Clip light blink. Its almost as if this combination has limitless power. Well balanced for both music and movies without a doubt! I sold my Hsu MBM-12 because the SVS' have tremendous all-around bass including mid-bass slam.
  16. If your subwoofer is properly level-matched to your other speakers it shouldn't over-enhance anything or sound the least but muddy. It does depend on the subwoofer, though. Some are boomier than others. It should blend in almost as if it wasn't there, in a sense. If your receiver has any sort of automatic setup or test tone generator you should level match all your speakers with an SPL meter. If you hook up your sub using the Sub/LFE out from your receiver into your sub's LFE input you definitely get all the bass info from movies and anything else you listen to.
  17. Sorry, I didn't notice the one listing was for a single speaker.
  18. On eBay right now there's a couple pairs of CDT speakers for under $400/pair http://cgi.ebay.com/KLIPSCH-CDT3650-IN-CEILING-SPEAKERS-1-PAIR-NEW-IN-BOX_W0QQitemZ190284507080QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item190284507080&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50 http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-CDT-5650-C-In-ceiling-Loudspeaker_W0QQitemZ170297439163QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
  19. Here's a link to all the specs on the RCR http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/rcr-5.aspx There are several CDT models available http://www.klipsch.com/search/default.aspx?search=cdt Here's a paragraph about the CDT construction: "Thanks to a new patent-pending gimbal mechanism, known as Controlled Dispersion Technology™ (CDT), both the high and low frequencies of the CDT-5800-C can be directed towards the listening area. Because the tweeter is independently adjustable from the woofer, this speaker offers even more precise localization." It doesn't look like the RCR series are adjustable for direction.
  20. I think some have described a Quartet as a Heresy with more bass if that makes a difference to you.
  21. Reeheeheeeheeallly?? http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10244&cs_id=1024405&p_id=4785&seq=1&format=2
  22. None of the center speakers you listed would be even close to matching your LaScalas. They are all much less efficient and voiced totally different. Different people have used other Heritage speakers as centers with LaScalas such as a Heresy, Cornwall or another LaScala. Klipsch made a center called an Academy that might work ok, it certainly would be a lot better than the current Reference series centers. If given the choice between no center speaker and one that's totally mis-matched to my front mains, I'd choose no center speaker.
  23. Gotcha, had no idea what the reference was there.
