  1. Well folks, it was nice knowing you all. Looks like I'll be trying to avoid a bloodhound that's going to be hot on my trail.
  2. wow. Wow. WOW. WOWOWOWOW. I'm at the scene where the alien thing is coming out of the earth. EVERYTHING IN MY ROOM IS RATTLING. I have the subsonic filter tuned to 12Hz. I think I'm causing structural damage to my house. Good thing my wife isn't home! I don't even have the volume turned up as loud as I've listened to other movies at. I hope my neighbors don't think that we're really being attacked by aliens!! [6]
  3. Most Klipsch speakers have such high sensitivity ratings that the majority of people are using about 5 watts maximum, and that will usually give you decibel ratings of 100-110 depending on what model Klipsch you have. As a general rule of thumb, its better to have an amplifier that delivers more power than the speakers can handle. I know it may sound odd, but think of it as driving a Yugo at 80mph and a Corvette at 80mph. Which engine do you think is struggling between the two? Which engine do you think will last long at those speeds? In this case as well as the speakers, more power is better. Your ears will usually give in long before the speakers do. []
  4. I don't think the RW-12 will keep up with the output of Klipschorns, the RSW-12 probably would be a better choice.
  5. I usually look at craigslist every day to see what speakers are for sale locally. At least a half dozen pairs of the white van speakers have been posted for sale within the past few weeks. I would love to be approached by these guys selling them and just waste their time asking all kinds of questions. Here's one example posted today: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/236573122.html I've also seen the Digital Dogg brand and Theater Research brand posted on there. Some people only ask $100 or so for the speakers, but I've seen others ask upwards of $1500.
  6. I took a DVD camcorder that I was selling for a co-worker to the UPS store yesterday to have it shipped. The lady who helped me was nice and then she asked if they could open the package to inspect how it was packed. I told them it was packed well but they could go ahead. Then some old lady came out of the back room, opened the box and started pulling all my packing materials out and pretty much throwing them on the floor. She proceeded to measure the small box that I had within the larger box, and the camera case inside as well. She told me that I had the items packed too tightly and that I didn't have adequate protection, I needed at least 2" of foam or peanuts or bubble wrap on all the inside surfaces. They were going to charge me $17.81 just to repack it to their standards, PLUS the cost of shipping it. Then she said I needed to make sure the items inside were packed tightly enough that they don't move around. RIGHT AFTER SHE GOT DONE TELLING ME THAT I HAD PACKED THE ITEMS INSIDE TOO TIGHTLY. I had only charged the high bidder $10 to ship the camera, so I grabbed my stuff, went home and repacked it and brought it to the Post Office where they gladly accepted the package. I don't even want to get started on how UPS took a huge chunk out of the backside of a MINT pair of RF-25s that I sold on eBay. [:@]
  7. What did you replace the tweeter and squawker with? Klipsch or aftermarket parts? Many older Klipsch speakers benefit from replacing different parts in the crossover network. Are you sure you have the speakers wired in phase for the Chorus IIs (neg to neg, pos to pos)? Does your subwoofer work when you're in 2 channel mode? Do you have no bass or mids or treble or a combination of all 3?
  8. Well, things are looking up as far as my plans of going to the '07 Pilgrimage. Maybe I'll have to bring a couple blankets along to transport my Forte IIs for you to hear!
  9. Apparently "these are in great shape and have hardly been used" means the same as "huge stain on the woofer and the dust cap all crumpled in." [:@]
  10. That's the thing I liked about U-571. The Germans actually spoke German.
  11. Come on oldbuck, you know you almost ordered a rewinder. []
  12. If your receiver has a single sub or LFE output you can get a 'Y' splitter so that you can hook up both the L and R inputs on the sub. Otherwise use the single cable output into the LFE input. Not both at the same time as DrWho said.
  13. Looks like my job for the next few months is to convince my wife that we should to go the pilgrimage 2007! Anyone know if there's any cheap hotels in the area? Our friends that we'd visit live in Fort Wayne. That's a bit of a drive from Indy, isn't it?
  14. Off topic but how do you like your KLF30s? The ones I'm storing for my friend are incredible!
  15. If I wouldn't have ran across such a screaming deal on the pair of Forte IIs that I bought I probably would have used that money to get DeanG's crossover upgrades and would have kept my RF-7s. That being said, I just didn't have the $$ to get quality amplification that is necessary for the RF-7s. The Fortes and the KLF30s I have work awesome with my H/K amp.
  16. What American accent do you have? Your Result: North Central "North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot. Yikes. Even got the Minnesota part right! []
  17. Bose's official reply is that the specs that other speaker companies put out don't mean squat. What really matters is how everything sounds. Ah the irony.
  18. Virtually all subs have gain controls that let you blend the sub's output with your receiver/speakers. I certainly like my SVS, although it is better suited for movies that have lots of LFE effects. I have it crossed over at about 55Hz. Music has some information below 55Hz, but not much depending on the type of music you listen to. The RSW-15 from Klipsch has what many describe as excellent bass 'slam' and isn't the least bit boomy. The physical location of the sub in the room can also play a large part in how well it blends with the other speakers and also with how tight or boomy it sounds.
  19. Only if you have the RF-83, RF-63, etc front mains. If you have the previous Reference series (RF-7, RF-5, etc) keep the RC-7.
  20. Michael, when are you going to put your Forte IIs in your signature? You're not ashamed of them, are you? []
  21. Looks like its probably a Euro-only model. Here's a link for you: http://www.pioneer.de/eur/products/42/98/405/VSX-2016AV-S/index.html

Fun movie to watch. Not a ton of LFE information, but enough. When Mack the semi fires up his engine it seemed like there was a semi right in my room! []
  23. A co-worker's sister just had gastric bypass surgery. Between the liquid diet before/after and everything she's lost about 70 pounds so far. I hope everything turns out as planned for you. [Z]
