  1. I frankly don't know what to make of these wildly divergent opinions. I'm not seeking convergence so much as understanding. Is the difference in this thread and the other simply personal opinions/experiences/ hearing acuteness and/or deficiencies or is it more of different units equipment in the entire system(s)? Is there no "absolute sound"?[] Other than a magazine) Specifications if made accurately mean something it is all in the interpretation of them. I do not want equipment "etched" nor on the other side something "mellow." Can one tell etched v. mellow by specifications? J.
  2. Giving out your number on the internet is dangerous with lurkers hoping to find info like this to prey upon you.
  3. I can't say I am following any of these fancy words and diagrams. [:$] Does it matter to non-engineers who are just listening to music? [][] J.
  4. I love my original Heresies (I). I was told that there isn't much difference between them and the Heresies II. I think either one would be for just about anyone. The brand new Heresies III are going to cost about four or five (in my case 7+) times as much as a good used pair. J.
  5. I wonder if any of these people in New Orleans have now developed a fear of God. God is not just responsible for creating daisies and sunsets . . . . . He also smited Sodam and Gomorrah.
  6. Why do/did you own so much equipment? Was it all used at once? What is your personal favorite?
  7. Why would they all go bad in 20 years? No moving parts on there are there???
  8. I just fell into mine by chance but I've never heard any better before or after. Maybe someday I will advance to the King Klipschorn! I can dream can't I?[][]
  9. Don't trust them!!! There are thousands of sellers with feedbacks in the 100s or even more. Choose them!!!
  10. Thank you Leo. What remote volume control do you use? Does it have to be special for to work properly with the Crown type amplifier?
  11. Is this an integrated amplifier, meaning it has a preamplifier built in or does it need a preamplifier also? Julie
  12. My Heresies sound great and Klipschorns are much better than they are! A guy I knew had a car that wouldn't run right wouldn't hardly start. He tried EVERYTHING! He even drained his gas tank because he thought there might be water in . He bought a new distributor cap and spark plug wires. Finally he gave up and was swearing that Chevys are no good. He had it tow truck to the shop and they found a couple spark plug wires were connected to the wrong numbers on the distributor cap. He then figured it was this guy he knew who thought he was after his girlfriend, which wasn't true. When Geoff put in new spark plug wires he hooked them up the same order as he took them off one at a time but they were hooked up wrong to begin with because of the tampering. So yes I agree with NOSV that they are tampered with. I still kid him about Chevy being no good.
  13. Doctor Dezibel: Do you have more Heresy speakers not in the picture, or is it just left, center, and right? If it is only the three in front, what audio format do you choose when playing movies? Looks nice. Julie
  14. Mr. Jenkins locate a pair of your wife's pantyhose that she's not wearing at the time : ) and drape them so they hang down over the top speaker, the tweeter. This will tame the highs. You may adjust to taste with partial coverup or double coverup. My Heresies are lovely the way they are and need no tweeks thank you. J.
  15. Is this a filter or an equalization circuit? J.
  16. Does the music go through all of those yellow things before coming out of the speaker? If so why are there so many parts to it. Don't tell me there is something that complicated in my Heresies? I assume if there is something like that in Heresies it can't cost $1000's of dollars.
  17. Hmmm ... are we really that predictable! : ) I guess 99% of the world is not interested in "a nice audio system". Yes I agree of the 1% that is that 99.9% are men. Well it's "boys and their toys", isn't it? We have other things to do like run a home : ) or taking on responsibilities in the world. I love my Heresies but for hearing music with not the speakers in themselves, if that makes sense. I do like their old-fashion style though. : ) J.
  18. Van77: You will love them. My Hereses were also $200 but not mint. J.
  19. Leok said: "I have a tendency to take the Tripath sound pretty seriously because it is the sound of a math algorithm, not the sound of components. In this case I'm not sure what it's telling me. It is certainly impressive." In six semesters of College Algebra I never heard "The sound of math algorithm". How can you tell "it is certainly impressive"?
  20. Steve wrote: "The highs rolled off a little, but with Klipschorns, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, as Khorns can give up some highs here and there, and still put out a quality sound." What do you mean? Aren't Klipschorns highs the same as my Heresy highs? They sound perfect. I do not want to muffle them.
  21. Why would a Mcintosh amplifier be better than another company for Klipsch?
  22. Moquito, I sense that the Heritage Line Speakers are considered the best especially the older speakers made of wood before Mr. Klipsch passed on some years ago not plastic Made in China. I love my Heresies and wholeHeartedly reccommend them. Are any used Heresies in Italy?
