  1. Two books about music and the times they were written in that I really enjoyed is On The Road by Jack Kerouac and Chronicles by Bob Dylan. I have read both more than once. Buy them and thank me later. Never been to Memphis but I would kinda like to go there......blues and ribs.....
  2. NASCAR drivers chase each other in circles.......dogs chase their tails in circles......must be some connection CB[]
  3. Ah.....my buddy Michael Vick. Before your time here winchester but it was a post I wrote about Vick and my outrage at his behavior that resulted in a locked thread a couple of years ago. My only locked thread in four years[:S]
  4. Great pics Fender. Been there many times. The wild horses used to roam all the way to Kitty Hawk but the folks at Corolla erected a jetty to try and keep the horses from eating there well manicured lawns. Some still take to the water and swim around the jetty. May be munching on Jane Pauley or Tom Cruises pansies as we speak. We vacation at Kill Devil Hills since the family has a cottage there. Crowded now......not like in the 70s. We usually go early spring and late September to avoid crowds. Use to go over to Collington and crab in the sound......crab stew or soft shelled crabs.
  5. Welcome to the forum. From what I read your music/equipment quest should be very long and not in a straight line......but then the journey is most of the fun[*-)]
  6. Hi Mike.....glad you stopped by. My neighbor 3 houses down got me started on MM. He is retired CIA and an interesting fellow. We went to a movie together about the spy (Ames or Hanssen...can't recall) who was selling info to the Russians for years and he said he use to work down the hall from him. He always wore expensive suits and drove luxury cars on a very meager salary[:^)] Hey Ace....when you get my age you can talk about being tired. Congrats on the future music room. Where are you located? I might volunteer winchester to come over and help you dig[] Winchester......the bloody marys were a hit but what can you really do to mess one up? bluesboy is coming over tomorrow to discuss a new addition on the house. Take advantage of prices while the economy is bad. Maybe a martini afterwards. Cheers gents[D]
  7. Definitely no offense taken buddy. I guess my palate is not quiet so refined[] I prefer Grey Goose but like Belvedere price is a factor for me. I can't say that I have tried Belvedere but with your endorsement I will try some. I have been drinking Makers Mark but I may try some different scotches this fall. Again....when you go past Dalmore Cigar Malt you may lose me again. Looks like me, you, and Ace are tending bar. Where is that wus JB? He's been awol for a couple of weeks.
  8. And I thought I was going to have fun tomorrow[] Here is to your project[D]
  9. A long day......time to belly up to the bar. Winchester's pole dancers should be here soon. Having a vodka and soda with wedge of lime. Using Absolut that my buddy from Charlotte said has a gasoline taste[^o)]
  10. Good point cm......many sides to this issue and I see validity in your take. Ernest Hemmingway lived a full life in a relatively short time and chose his exit. I understand that...I've often wondered about what more he could have contributed.....but maybe thats me being selfish. And then there are those struggling to just make it another day. Go figure.
  11. Mike....I won't have anyone to have a Makers Mark with.....except maybe bluesboy......and he's no fun[:S] And you were about to catch me in number of post!
  12. That is a tough one. Been through it twice in the last three years. Labs....mother and daughter....not hunters just good companions. Petless for the first time in 20 years. I'll toast Big John tonight.
  13. No Kettel but a few Absolut and soda water with lime. Bloody marys for eight in the morning. Clamato juice is $6.39 in the grocery store here....yikes. Cheers gents[D] Hey JB.....out of rehab yet[]
  14. Hey winchester.....had some of those Charlotte farmers market hierloom tomatoes tonight. Wife's sister and brother-in-law are vacationing at Figure Eight Island and brought a basketful. Not bad. Big ol purple tomatoes with sliced cucumbers and bleu cheese.
  15. Ah! I see your problem......keep the volume way up[] You may want to start with cleaning/spray such as Deoxit. Good luck
  16. I was suppose to go up with Buzz and Neil but that was the night I had to wash my hair......darn it!
  17. Any good bloody mary recipes out there? I can take or leave them but relatives are coming for brunch Saturday.
  18. Anytime.....mentioned to bboy today we need to have a NC get together. I can think of six or seven forum members from the Tarheel state. Be glad to host. Hope your week goes better.
  19. DU73......sounds wonderful. Call the next time and if I'm in the neighborhood......
  20. Sounds good dtel....if I were a few miles closer[]
  21. A nice day here in the Port City. Beautifull weather, yards looking good, and got a little pressure washing done. Had a couple of light beers and martinis with bluesboy. Not bad for life in the slow lane[] Cheers gents! Where you is winchester?
  22. That's where I got mine. Just about 5 minutes from work. Me too Mike.....I got the mini mod. Never had a seconds problem.
  23. May want to talk with the guys at Hotrodaudio in Smyrna, GA. Telephone # 770 433-9434. They are Jolida 100 experts.
  24. My tomatoes are gone thanks to those little gray critters. I still go by a lot of roadside stands and can get all I want but its not the same as eating your own home grown. Oscar, I used Peters fertilizer at least once a week but anything would probably work. Love those hierlooms. Winchester....bring that pellet rifle with you if you get down to the coast this fall and we can cook up a squirrel stew. What wine would you pair with that? Hmmm....crab meat....good suggestion Russ.
  25. come on back fritz.....i won't start anymore tomatoe threads[:^)]
