  1. H H Scott rocks! I sold my LK 48 integrated as a community service concept. Never selling my 208 power amp. If you have never heard your Klipsch with a Soft put it on the bucket list!
  2. I liked the fact Chorus IIs were the last speaker PWK was intimately involved in the details of design. I think the cabinet construction of the KLF series was not as robust as Chorus or Forte. Know a person that had cabinet issues on KLF 30.
  3. Plenty of cool amps to try. Room placment is fun. Diameter of the passive radiator away from the rear wall. Put them on the long wall when ever you can. My Chorus IIs always got rave reviews at the Audio Karma enthusiast shows with NOS Valves amps.
  4. Oh the sarcasm or a missed decimal place on the watts. LMAO
  5. A new endeavor for the weekend...........no mat!
  6. For the VPI owners do you use the mat or as the VPI company owner suggests you can just play an LP on the platter with no mat at all. Not so sweet on metal to vinyl interface but subjectively the LP should not be damaged in any way.
  7. In infer you are also using the Soundsmith Counterintuitive? What cartridge do you use? How do you insure the Fozgometer stays / is calibrated? Soundsmith is coming out with their own meter but it seems like it is twice the price. Seems excessive. Do you use anti skate? VPI and Soundsmith differ greatly on use of antiskate.
  8. On the VPI unipivot it is a bit fussy. I use the small metal rod set into the 'groove' on the head shell but it is certainly not perfect. VPI forum has some conscientious owner content on this and related topics. Fosgate is a top notch company. I have read several interviews with their founder. When I have $ 300 I do not know what to do with I will probable buy the meter.
  9. I have two mint condition console stereo cabinets from the 50s. Motorola and Grundig contracted some pretty great furniture pieces. My wife would like me to retrofit / upgrade one of them with Scott 208 and RB-5s when we get our master bedroom built. I am not big on consoles for soundstage of course but ladies like a little beauty associated with audio.
  10. My RB-5s are in storage but always impressed. I wanted to get the crossovers recapped to kick them up a notch. My spiked stands were lead shot filled and the bass was very tight. Instead of 'bookshelf' I like to think of them as mini monitors.
  11. Very cool! I had a 4 track TASCAM in my parents basement in 1978-1982 for a small recording studio. With my small farm hobby I do not see having time to reinvigorate the RTR passion. Congrats to you RTR guys!
  12. In his profile it said NOS Valves rebuilt the 340A but was not definite for the 299B. In the day of HH Scott I do not recall cart out put being as low as 2.5mv but I could be wrong. I always used 4.0 mv carts when I owned a Scott LK-48.
  13. For the $8K you could get brand new Lascala IIs. Or tube amps other than MAC and a very cool turntable. You could upgrade the tweeters and caps on your Chorus IIs. I would continue to ponder your HT situation. I abandoned mine 5 years ago due to house downsizing and Tube analog priorities. I do not miss the HT at all with my 2.0 system for movies and TV when I am not music listening.
  14. The 7 foot distance between the speakers and the room reflections are a concern of mine.
  15. It is fun to try different amps like Tony stated. I went HK, Sherwood Newcastle, Ampex, several H H Scott's, Tripath and then VRDs. A pretty sweet ongoing experience in the past 18 years.
  16. If I ever went bookshelf again it would be RB 75 or Palladiums.
  17. VPI builds cleaners for the long haul. Mine is ten years old with no issues.
  18. Someone else can recall what push pull tube amp OEM used. I infer he listened at lower spl and did not listen to rock \ blues.
  19. Very impressive! Cannot go wrong with a Soundsmith cart.
  20. I liked the addition of the Jitter bug, but my old farmhouse electrical system was an obstacle perhaps. When I get around to getting a Furman higher end power conditioner the jitter bug may not be necessary. Regardless the Dragonfly is an inexpensive component to improve streaming music in my Samsung AMD A8 quad core laptop. I will upgrade to the Dragonfly Red in the next year.
  21. Great looking finish I have never seen. A Scott tube integrated and new crossover capacitors would take your Belle's to new level of realism.
  22. Nothing wrong with Panasonic / Technics. Turntables, DVD, DVD-A, chip amps and Blu Ray. They are all underappreciated. Shure cart is a keeper as well.
