  1. I would drill a small hole on the side down low, maybe half inch as an inspection point. Then you can get a better ideal of what you have to deal with Carefull when drilling not to plunge in to far. Hope this advise from a professional bld. maintenance man helps [8-)] Good luck & let us know if you find Jimmy Hoffa's body or other great treasures. Cornman
  2. If she thinks the Polks are to large I suppose Cornwalls would out of the question..? [8-)] but if you could swing it, I highly recommend you at least listen to a pair before you decide. Good luck, Cornman

  4. Those anniversery edditions are very beautiful , & may be a good investment for someone with deep pockets. Although I think you could obtain a very similar quality sound at one fourth the cost with some other tube products. Like the mc 275 or vrd's or P-Cat's, Bat vk60 just to name a few. Highly recommend listening to several amps before choosing. Good luck, & let us know what you end up with. Cornman
  5. Way to go Phill. Yea, your right now that I listen, I can hear them here in Austin. [] If only I had good corners... Cornman

  7. Beautiful room, love the wood. The comparisson should be a lot of fun. I find it interesting that your sweet spot is that far back, I always thought it was about half the width of the speakers. Cornman
  8. Wow, what a luck man to be able to compare such fine equipment. Looking very forward to your review. What seize room is this system beeing used in? Cornman
  9. " And last but NOT least, the expertise shared and gained here which cannot be calculated monetarily, but has value in any case. In this respect, BEST DEAL EVAH!!!" Ahmen to that quote Audible, great value indeed. Cornman
  10. Thanks to all my Klipsch friends for the birthday wishes. James I belive Travis is speaking of a very classy adult beverage called Bookers, uuummm. 14. I do not have the experience Dean has with capicators, & perhaps all my reads are idiotic []. But after opening the link I provided I realized that was not the link I was refering to. I will ck my home computer tonight to find the link "I thought was good". Cornman PS: If my link is taking you to "The great capicator Shootout" I thought it was a good read, but perhaps that just shows how little I know.
  15. Colter, are you asking strickly about croosover cap's, or output caps. Heres a good read. http://www.tempoelectric.com/caps.htm Cornman
  16. Shooter welcome to the Cornwall club. That's why my user name here is Cornman, I do so love my cornwalls. [] Cornman
  17. Yea Mike, dont you just love it.I have done similar things more times then I would care to admit. I think it's a particularly dark joke guys like us play on ourselves, considering our chosen profession. Somthing about being an engineer just adds salt to the wound of foolishness. Cornman
  18. Right on Don, keep on honking for the horns. Amazing how many audio guys I meet who are totaly biased against horns. To each his own, but the truth will prevall. Cornman
  19. Ah-so, I think I got it now. I did not realize you were using the dx38, I thought you were using the Crown with the internall active crossover. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Just trying to get my self prepared for that wonderfull day when I can own Jubilees also. Cornman
  20. Coytee, how do you handle the time issues (the active crossover) using two differnt amps with the Jub's? Congrat's BS on the 300B looking forward two you review when you get it all dialed in. Cornman
  21. Dang, I screwed up & sold mine for $80.00[:'(] metal case and the glass was sratched a little, but played good.. Cornman
  22. Young, I am about your same age & still own a Harmon kardon 930. I have been thru what you are considering, & have owned several tube Amps inc.the $5k Bat amp that I am using now. Dollar per dollar the HK is extreamly good, I found I did not really get a large improvement until I spent about $500.00 on a MC. 2505 which is not a tube amp. All the recommendations above are very good, but my point is one must decide for him self at what price point is it worth a better sound. The improvement get smaller & more subjective the higher up the price chain you go. If you have the the opportunity, By all means try to listen to some differnt amps in your on home for comparisson before spending the tight money. Just my two cents ,, good luck. Cornman
  23. It would have been the same for me if it had not been for my generous forum friend "Kaiser Set Say",who had a spare poster. Many thanks again Tim, & yes I will soon post a picture of a truly "blown away" frame for the poster. Cornman
