  1. Tigerman, That is one sick room you have...... [Y] [H] +1000 on that and you show people that it doesn't have to cost an outrages amount of money either. James
  2. Congrats on the new speakers.... [H] It has always been the other way around for me with my gf, she wants me to get K-Horns but with no good corners or room for them I can't. She fell in love with them the first time see heard them at the store. It's great to be able to listen to all the Heritage speakers in one location and be able to see the size of them. James
  3. Hello and Welcome to the Forum....... I say if you have them use them, you are the only person to make the finial decision if it sounds good enough. Remember, your surround speakers don't use the full range unless you use the 5 channel stereo mode on your receiver. The main thing you want is to have the front three speakers to timber match and you do so the surround can be a step down as long as you like the finial outcome from the setup. James
  4. Hello and Welcome to the Forum. If you have the mic for the receiver you should run the auto setup and see how that comes out for you. Listen to it for a day or two to get a base on what like and don't like. Then you can go in and start changing the settings to your liking. It is true that most start off with setting the x-over to 80 and going from there. Each person has a different room size and sound that they like, that is half the fun to all this, so start where you like and tweak until you find the correct setting for you. James
  5. You do know about Mono Price for all your wire and connection needs right. James
  6. I say go for the RF-83. It will be cheaper to upgrade to an external amp then getting the RF-82 and upgrading to the RF-83. I originally had my RF-83 setup hooked up to a Sony receiver that stated 110 wpc. I purchased used separates with the amp being 100 wpc then switched again to my current amp of 165 wpc. Get the best speakers you can so you don't end up asking yourself, "what if" later on. James
  7. I second those comments... Where are you located? Maybe someone close to you will offer to help you out in person, if you like. James
  8. Mickey's, Little Kings, Private Stock and OE... I forgot Colt 45, chillin with Billy Dee. James
  9. Come on JB you been here long enough to know that is how it works... So people just don't like the "R" word and think they're not... James
  10. Tim, Welcome to the Forum. I don't have the sub that you have so I just took a look at it. You should set the x-over to 80 and in your receiver if you have to option set your speakers to 80 also. This way your speakers will not play anything lower then 80 and the sub will not play anything over 80. With your speakers set to small that might limit the cut off, if it is different then 80 you need to match the the sub to that number. With the volume on the sub you can start out at half or more and change that as you see fit. Now this is just a starting point and anything that you change should be done and left alone for a few days to get a reference point before the next changes are made. That is whats makes all this fun, any changes that you make and like will be different then someone else so play around with it and see what sounds good to you. James
  11. You can always do the crawl around the room test to find out where the best location is to put it. You place the sub in your listening position and crawl around the room to see where it sounds the best to you. So when you place the sub in this location you will have the best sound from it. Now you can go thru this and find the location is not practical and have to decide where the second best place to put it. Just remember if someone in your family walks in on you doing this WE don't know what you are doing and you are on your own trying to explain it.... [] James
  12. Nope they still offer both, the free one and the Pro, the Pro version does have the layout and style builder additions. James
  13. Depends on what you consider old..... [] We were.... James
  14. With all that said I think that you should hold out for and receiver that has the sub out. Unless you can play the KG's right now with out a sub and like the output then I say go for it. Your comments are in the other direction and you really like the addition of a sub. It is all a personal issue on weather you want a sub or not with your 2-channel setup. I have three different ones and none have a sub, then again they are all powered by receivers that don't have a sub out to begin with. If you do decide to get the receiver this is another good thing about it. You don't have to pay for shipping and worry if it will arrive in more then one piece. Good luck on your decision. James
  15. At the beginning it can be complex but the main thing it is expensive, especially for general noodling. You can eliminate Sketch Up Pro as that is $500. I would go with Sketch Up or even take a look at Blender. Blender has the modeling and rendering plus others things that you can get into like animation and real time 3D/game creation. James
  16. You can either get the kit from Mr. Crites and do it your self or ship him your x-overs and he will do the job for you and ship them back. I currently have 2 pairs of Cornwall I, one pair has his modified x-over and the other is still original. I have one pair hooked up for 2-channel with my Thorens 160 TT. I purchased the TT from a forum member and purchased a Shure M97xE, this is my first TT and it sounds great to me, a cart all depends on how much you want to spend. You can take a look at LP Gear, Acoustic Sounds, Elusive Disc, Music Direct and even Amazon for the best pricing on the cart. Don't know if you have this information but it good to have. The Analog Department Vinyl Engine James
  17. Steve did but we probably own him a new camera now... James
  18. Have you taken a look at AV123, they have one finish on sale that is a little over $500 with shipping. I never heard one before but there has been talk about them here before. James
  19. I found these to work really good with my Cornwalls and Heresy, http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=095-666 I use these for the connection of the above speakers to the receivers, http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=095-671 For my RF-83 setup I have the older style of the Monster Flex Tip connectors at the speakers and amp, works great for me. James
  20. Take a look at the Outlaw RR2150, it has a sub out and pre outs just in case you want to add a external amp later on. Outlaw does ship to Canada and this receiver has gotten good reviews. You can do a search here and see what others have said about it, I believe the phone input is also great on this unit just in case you wanted to add a TT. James
  21. Great to hear that they shipped, see the month might have been the longest that you can think of but wait till you hear them. Everything will be fine and that smile on your face will last a long time. I can't comment on the delivery time but even with the holiday this week you should have them by next week. Can't you call and find out at least a time frame so you have a better ideal? James
  22. Steve, my gf and I would like to thank you and your family for opening your house to us and the rest of the Klipsch community that showed up. Also thanks Jim for the entertaining evening, it's really nice to see and talk to you guys again after 2 years, we really had a great time. I can second what the others have said, OUTSTANDING SETUP..... This was my first experience with the Jubilee's and they sound great, also that Belle center was unbelievable. Also the others have hit it spot on with all the music played during that evening, from War Pigs to Art's creation. All the music sounded fantastic, even the few samples that I brought along that my gf wanted to hear. Even though Seth called me out on some of it, that I really don't listen to it, that was a good one..... [] All in all it really was a fun time, Steve if you have another get together count me in with a plus one cause I know my gf will want to come again. James
  23. I have my HI connected to a Yamaha CR-1020 without a sub and it sounds great. Only modification is the reworked x-over by Mr. Crites. James
  24. I would try each out on a few movies on the same volume and see for yourself. A lot of time it is the little things that you might miss and the fun of all of this, trying different things out for yourself and see how you like it. Then whichever one you don't have in your 5.1 setup you have a great pair of speakers for a 2-channel setup... See this NEVER ends.... James
