  1. Trey, What color of background do you want?
  2. $1700!?, What are you waiting for???? Do they look in good shape???
  3. Hey!, I do have to work, cut the yard, etc.... I did answer your PM, and six bills is a bit short of what I was looking for. Geez, an Academy can go for that alone!!! Jim
  4. I'm just glad that I still had them to sell back to Jon (Cornwalled). They were sitting in my basement for about a year. The cabinets were in rough shape but the sound was still the same! Now,who is looking for a pair of Klipschorns? JUST KIDDING GUYS!!!!!!
  5. AintJoM0mma, Sounds like you are fairly close. B'more is around two hours from here. I live in Martinsburg, WV, just off of I-81. I just resold a pair of Cornwalls to "Cornwwalled" yesterday. I bought them from him over a year ago with the intention of refinishing them but never got around to it. Anyway they are back "home" with Cornwalled in Stroudsburg, PA. The Forte IIs were purchased in 93 and were originally intended as rear surrounds for my K-horns. They haven't seen much use, about as much as the Academy which I used as a center for the K-horns. I need to talk to the wife and see what the cost will be. Really don't want to Ebay them if at all possible.
  6. Where are you located? How much are you willing to spend? Would you be interested in a pair of Forte II's and a matching Academy? All three are in Walnut Oil finish. They are in A+ shape, physically and sonically.
  7. I believe retail onthemwas around $2000.00. My Forte IIs listed at $1495. in 1993, got 'em new for $1100.00.
  8. Maron, I hate to question you but, Gorilla Glue? That stuff might foam up once its applied. I know it does when its used with wood.
  9. Jon, What are you looking at other speakers for???, your Cornwalls are waiting!!! For only $350.00! LOL Jim
  10. DaddyDee, How do you Like the center channel on the 222D? Do you have a pot inline with the seaker so you can adjust the level of the center? SFOGG, I'm not afraid to experiment. Just don't want to blow out the outputs in any of my amps. Did that once when I wasn't careful..... I'm glad to hear that it will be a summed output... Will be glad toget the ST70 in to hear it...
  11. All of this has me wondering.... I've got the PWK 3 channel setup of a pair of KBWO's and a Belle WO as the center. So far I haven't had the opportunity to use the derived center channel (from 2 channel) set up. I have a Yamaha E-1000 Dolby Pro-Logic decoder that I have used but I really don't think its the same as the PWK circuit. I purchased an EICO ST70 strictly for this purpose since it has a powered center channel connection. It's being shipped now,so I hope I won't be in for a let down. It even comes with an owners manual so maybe it will describe the center cahnnel in it. I really didn't research this and I'm hoping that I didn't make a grave error in buying the ST70 only to have something that isn't what PWK intended. Would the EICO center channel be a summed or differential signal? Thanks for any info!
  12. You could look here: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?&DID=7&WebPage_ID=40 pricing is good for the cable and its Oxygen Free so you won't have to worry about corrosion. Price is way less that Monster. They also have bananna plug connectors too.
  13. No, but just want to make sure he doesn't...
  14. Artto, I value your knowledge of the Heritage line, room acoustics and the GMR. I suppose that by not spelling out what GMR means I too will face the wrath of the Mighty Moderator! Hang in there Artto!!! PS I've never been banned or had a topic locked, thought it was time.... (This is in reference to Artto's "This is what I Mean" topic located in General Questions)
  15. Well, I took the plunge and won this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5705587648&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 I'm hoping that this will power my Heritage 3 channel rig consisting of a pair of K-horns and a Belle center channel. From the pictures this thing looks in great shape hopefully the electronics will be in similar condition. Do any of you tube jocks have experience with the EICO ST70 in a three channel array? Any information would be appreciated...
  16. ---------------- On 6/16/2004 2:52:41 PM Frzninvt wrote: Mark got it, they offer more placement options than the horizontal versions, but the drivers are the same. They also make for a wider sound stage when placed upright since the horns are on the outer most, upper portion of the cabinet. My '62 Verticals are also designated as a Cornwall II right on the label. I think due to the rarity of them as they are not as common, makes them more desireable, in addition they make for a killer center channel since Klipsch does not really offer a bonafide center channel for Heritage users so that is where the creativity comes into play. ---------------- AH!, but Klipsch does make a center channel for the Heritage line. Originally the center for Khorns was a Hersey with a X-over that tuned the mid and high freq drivers (at the expense of bass output) to the freq response of the Khorn. Next came the Cornwall as a center for the K-horns, but due to higher distortion levels in the Hersey and Cornwall PWK stated that for those wanting a center channel for the "2HP3" three channel stereo a Belle or La Scalla would be the best choice due to its 3 way horn loaded - lower distortion - nature. A center for a pair of Khorns would be a matching Belle (same wood & finish) or a La Scala (not as a high WAF), a center for the Belles would be another Belle, for the La Scallas another La Scalla same goes for the Cornwall and Hersey models. Now these are not small units and usually can't be out on top of a RPTV or CRT monitor so special consideration on placement is a must. Many folk use the Academy as a center for the Heritage line, but its not a Heritage speaker and its a two way. I have both an Academy and a Belle the Belle of course is the winner...
  17. Depends on the market in your area. You could list them in the paper or try and sell them on E-bay. Can you take any digital pictures of them? That will help us determine a ballpark $ amount. Where in the US are you? Could be someone here on the BB is interested...
  18. Shock-Late, You might want to experiment with toe-in - toe-out of the speakers and placement of your listening position, may help a bit. Your problem is one that PWK "fixed" with the adition of the center channel speaker, some of PWK's articles on this are:(Stereophonic Sound with Two Tracks, Three Channels by Means of a Phantom Circuit {2PH3} PWK 1958, Wide Stage Stereo, PWK 1959 Experiments and Experiences in Stereo PWK 1960. There are also articles dating back to the 1930s where Bell Labs (now Lucent Technology) experimented with three channel reporduction. I've been looking at some of the older tube amps (IE: Eico 40 & 70) and they have a setup for a powered center channel derived from the left and right output transformers. Most folk think that the center channel speaker thing is new to 5.1 but its premise has been around since the 1930s or so. A seperate La Scala (or Belle) in the middle will fix the situation quite nicely and open up a whole new stage for your sounds!
  19. Well, the speakers are serially matched. It's easy to tell by the matching grain of the veneer on the speakers. You could easily tell if they weren't matched, well, except for the ones painted black. HDBR tells us that the black ones were regular wood grained speakers that had a flaw in the grain and were delegated to the black paint job. I'm quite sure that there were a few that slipped by that weren't perfect grain matches but I haven't see any yet!
  20. "we were playing a home made cd at the time" Of what??? Did you have the bass cranked way up? What is the Watts per channel of your amp? If you had a CD containing a lot of subwoofer frequency (25 hz and below) bass, its possible that you fried the woofers. Just because the sub can't reproduce the subwoofer fequencies doesn't mean that its not getting all of that power applied to its voice coil. You probally fried the voice coils! Good thing it will only cost around $260 to fix at the max.
  21. After you have connected your standard cable tv connectors to the cable you can go to the local Radio Shack and pick up a pair of converters that will provide you with the RCA ends. A piece of cake and they work well too.
  22. Bert, Is one of the places Custom Audio on Rodney Parham in West Little Rock??? Got some of my Klipsch stuff there too...
