  1. does she see rainbows in her sprinkler, and what kind of metals and other pollutants are seeping through the ground of your office building? I mean we can all have a good laugh now; but, when we're all on that yellow brick road that leads to AlGore's house--it won't be so funny.
  2. I think Biscardi has been hitting the BACARDI a little too much. Some of my favorite people look like sasquach through the bottom of an empty 151 bottle.
  3. http://www.bythefault.com/2008/08/10/someone-missed-a-science-class/ This was forwarded to me. She does have a point...rainbows didn't exist 20 years ago. [*-)]
  4. i'm wondering if enough subwoofers would vibrate the floor enough to cause the blood to detach from the fabric? (trying to provide an audio solution).
  5. well, i got them. they are in good shape, except no grills. i think $250 was a good deal. now, if i can just find someone selling a single heresy--my all-heresy HT will be complete. i also noticed two sets of la scalla's in my town for sale--both seller's asking $850. i'm going to vegas next week, with a little luck I'll come back with enough to buy them. 8 klipsch speakers in my one-bedroom apartment already...but, i'm single now--i can do stuff like this again. happy saturday everyone.
  6. well that's a good reason to have a half-dozen beers tonite.
  7. This weekend I'm going to go check out some Heresy II that some guy is selling for $250. Apparently his wife thinks they are too big and told him to get rid of them. He is willing to hook them up so i can demo them. Hopefully everything is on the up & up and I'll walk away with a good deal. My other heresy's are getting lonely.
  8. so this must be a job transfer with a post navy job??? Based on your screen name, i figured you were retired Navy.
  9. okay OB...time to take you to task. I could put up with you liking the Rolling Stones; but, Captain Morgan??? Dude--you're better than that. actually, i tease my brother in law because he loves captain morgan. Myself, i'm a brewski man--if you're going to hand me hard liquor it better be some quality tequilla. but, at 48 (tomorrow) my hard liquor days are becoming a thing of the past. Still drink too much beer though. Something about an iced cold Moosehead that I just can't give up. just found a picture of me from 1982 and i was drinking a Moosehead even back then.
  10. if too many people show up--you can send them to my place as overflow (huntington beach, ca) have them bring the Palladiums of course. Seriously, I hope you all have a wonderful time.
  11. Gary be careful, this is a public forum. are you sure you want to be talking about bags of "stuff?" []
  12. Hey SROBAKdont take what anyone says here personally. I dont know OldEnough at all, so I cant speak for him or against him. So my comments ARE NOT directed at him. However, there an active forum member that I will not call out; but, a year or so ago, we had a lengthy and spirited debate regarding the legalization of drugs and its impact on the individual/society. Now, Im a former addict (been clean since late 1980, so its out of my system). I surrendered too many years to that monster (drugs) but still have to deal with some permanent reminders of those dark years. I faired better than some of my running mates that ended up either in jail or dead. Anyway, I was speaking from direct and personal experience; but, since what I was saying to this forum member didnt fit into the mold presented by those on the Lefthe disregarded it completely and clung to his own philosophy about the way things really are and how best to solve the problembasically giving me the equivalent of the BS button. I couldnt get him to understand that his textbook arguments fresh out of the leftist operating manual about how things really are werent true and often flat out lies that are commonly passed through those circles. I LIVED that life, and for YEARS I only associated with those that also LIVED that life. I saw firsthand how things REALLY WERE (and they werent like he claimed)but, pay no attention to the man on the street, listen to those whose political motives trump the individual that they claim to represent. You see, Ive learned that many could care less about the individual, only giving them attention when it suits their argument; they are far more concerned with putting on this mystical badge of honor from being counter-culture, anti-establishment or whatever else is the banner of the month. Sorry for rambling, all this trying to say that you cant convince some because their motive isnt to learn, to help, to solve, or even to understand those that dont share the same ideology. So, dont get upset. And besides, Im also convinced that some dont even believe what they sayjust like to ruffle some feathers from time to time. Hang in there. If you lived itnobody can tell you that it isnt real.
  13. Well, I'm glad to see someone agrees with me! well, we do agree on one point--sarcasm. i love it. have to be careful in forums though. talking to people we don't know and don't know us, don't know when we're being sarcastic, when we're joking, when we're getting angry. i don't have a problem with people owning guns. i don't think guns are the problem and i definately don't think that banning them will do much either. some of the most gun-related crime areas are paradoxically also "gun-free zones." The issue was, is, and always will be the character of people. the weapon isn't the cause--so it isn't the answer. and think about it, where do we stop? should we get rid of knives because of what happened on that bus in canada? baseball bats because that lady went off on that predator that moved in next door? if we ban every object that can be used as a weapon we'll have nothing left--not even our arms & legs. even then, take away wheelchairs because the amputee will wiggle his torso and crash his wheelchair into some unsuspecting soul. the problem is in the heart of the person, and God forbid we tell someone that they can't behave a certain way--we'll damage their self-esteem, we'll be labled racists, oppressors, etc...
  14. "Indisputable fact." "Period." "End of Story." Why didn't you just make that your first post? You could have saved us from all of this reading.
  15. Thank you Jeff for noticing that (and most likely myriad other inconsistencies). I've concluded that the reason that there is a large group of angry people out there is because deep down, they know they are living a life a inconsistency. They are trying hard to defend it, they can't, and it's just making them angry.
  16. You can see something like this coming: You are on a long bus ride, and its 2 am. You are strapped with your trusty .44 magnum - the most powerful handgun in the world. In the seat just ahead of you, you see a man raise up with a hunting knife in hand ready to thrust it into the man next to him. With a second to react, you draw your "44" and blow the knife wielders head off. Afterwords, when everyone has wiped the blood and brains off their faces, we discover the man you shot was simply defending himself from the other man's knife which was burried in his stomach, but which you couldn't see because it was out of your view. Now what Harry? I see your point; but, what well-respected man would defend himself with a hunting knife? []
  17. cool write-up Michael--my parents also endured music, much to loud, that they couldn't stand. Alice Cooper and Yes probably played the most. We do share something in common. I'm a huge Yes fan and particularly a Rick Wakeman fan. I'm not the type to ask for autographs; but, I did get his several years ago. About five years ago, I took my mom to Las Vegas (she's getting old and lives alone). She told me to put in some music, "I'd like to hear whatever you're listening to these days" she said. Naturally, I started off with some Queen; but, then I put in some Rick Wakeman. He's only playing the Grand Piano and telling humorous stories in between songs (he's a good story teller too). Mom loved it. In fact, two weeks ago when I was visiting, I bought her a Rick Wakeman DVD. But, the influence went both ways, I actually enjoy the Kingston Trio and some Crooner songs because I heard them coming from Pops stereo in the living room. Good memories.
  18. Back in early 1984, I walked into a stereo shop looking to buy a system. I knew absolutely nothing. The guy directed me to some Heresy's. He also recommended an NAD amp & preamp. I'm happy to have met that guy. my worst nightmare is what if that guy would have been a bose man.
  19. Thank you SWL--I spent six weeks in Milwaukee in the late 70's. I was in the Coast Guard and our ship was in drydock in Milwaukee (then subsequently in Sturgeon Bay) had good times in both places. I was amazed that i could be walking through a neighborhood and at the corner, which i presumed was just another house, was a neighborhood pub. The midwest holds a special place in my heart.
  20. Hey OB if you're out there..this cold one is for you my friend. beautiful day in southern california, cold beer (moosehead of course) listening to a Moody Blues concert DVD. since my separation from my wife eight months ago, i never hooked up my sound system....until today. the jury is still out as to whether or not my neighbors will still like me. those of us that have diminishing hearing tend to crank up the volume a bit. anyway, if you're out there, hope you are having a wonderful day....and the same goes to all of you Forum Brethren.
