  1. JB--if you've never heard Foghorn Leghorn doing Shakespeare--you're missing quite a treat.
  2. i don't know what they're called; but, i saw something similar but it had two wheels in the front and one in the back--it was very cool.
  3. i don't know if i will see it or not...i'm still upset that john rhys-davies wasn't asked to be in it again. he wanted to do it; but was told that they wanted to introduce "new" characters and thus had decided not to bring back all of the old ones. i'd rather see mr. davies make a Sliders movie--i liked that t.v. show.
  4. Thank you all for the kind words. This is my third grandchild; but, first grandson. Everyone is doing fine. What type of speakers does one put in a cradle?
  5. My grandson--who just entered the world three hours ago! It's a lot tougher watching your daughter go through labor than it was watching my wife; but, Thank God...all is well.
  6. i think some guy from des moines was selling some chewing gum from a rick monday baseball card and said it was still "minty." last i saw the bidding was at $12.50
  7. I usually look to the movie jaws to get my toasts...quint said "here's to swimming with bow-legged women" but, i guess you're looking for something a bit more classy. when i was on active duty in the military, for a while i was in charge of a unit that had to do funerals. the first time that i had to present the flag to the next of kin, i had practiced the speech and knew it backwards and forward--until i got in front of the widow--my mind went totally blank. for a minute, i didn't even know my own name--i remember telling myself to "say something" and i managed to get about half of the speech out. the good thing was, she didn't know what i was supposed to say, so she didn't know that i messed up. these folks aren't going to be grading you on how well you can recite some lines, just say what's in your heart and you'll be fine, and if you can't think of anything at all--just go punch him in the arm--your brothers.
  8. in realize that you're accustomed to it; but, how bad was the humidity? i'd love to take that cruise; however, i have chronic asthma and heat & humidity practically kill me.
  9. still using my great big bertha and still loving it.
  10. I will recommend two very different songs: (1) My Guitar Lies Bleeding in my Arms by Tuff Darts. Not a whole bunch of people have heard of them, but this is a nice rock-n-roll song. (2) My Melancholy Blues by Queen. This gem can be found on their News of the World album. I think it is the only Queen song without any vocal harmonies. Powerful vocals by Freddie Mercury and the piano.
  11. something that you'll never find me wearing... itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini and with all of that great music out there, i got stuck with that.
  12. and i hope it is a very happy one for you sir.
  13. Groomslake--when is the Hamms review coming? Just joking, of course. do they even sell that anymore? Hope things are well in that part of the country--Socal is very hot today. I'm a lager man and am drinking a Moosehead now--it is very nice.
  14. i was always partial to the money tree...oops, sorry to many serious posts in a row. actually, dtel has good taste--japanese maples are very nice. i had two in my backyard.
  15. i've never heard the promedia 2.1; but, i'm sure they are good. that said, the GMX is by no means a disappointment, especially for the price, klipsch clearance price of $79.
  16. a co-worker came by the house to help me with a drywall project. I decided to put on some tunes and my Mac was close to where we were working and itunes library is close to 1000 songs. i have the Klipsch GMX A-2.1 on the Mac and my friend stops working and says, "Man, that sounds very good." He then asks if he can purchase them online, I told him yes. He says, "No. I mean can I use your computer to buy some RIGHT NOW." He did and is very happy. one of the managers at work says that he needs some speakers for his computer. I brought in the GMX setup so he could demo it--about 15 minutes later he comes out of his office and asks me to send him the link to Klipsch website that he needs to buy some. can't take credit for being a good salesman--these things sell themselves.
  17. Tarheel--"Dogfish Head Chicory Stout " How was that? I've heard that Dogfish Head is good stuff; but, super expensive.
  18. So, my head gasket is blown on my truck, apparently the divorce has already damaged my credit enough to scare off the bank from lending me money, and I'm telling my brother all of this while driving home. I end the conversation by saying, "What next?" As I pull into my parking spot and exit my truck, I notice a police car has parked right behind me and he says, "did you know that you just ran a stop sign?" we ended the conversation with him giving me a little piece of paper that will surely lighten my wallet quite a bit. very soon, you'll see my on the street corner with a sign that says, "I will let you listen to my Klipsch for food."
  19. that's a travesty--everyone knows to use KETCHUP not castsup! strangely, hot dogs are about the only thing i don't put ketchup on--mustard & relish is all i need.
  20. LOUIE LOUIE??? OB are you counter-culture? just joking, recalling the controversy regarding those lyrics.
  21. my title was misleading...initially i was just going to mention that monkees song; but, then decided to comment on eleanor rigby and space odditiy, as they are generally not the first songs mentioned when you ask someone to name the best beatles or bowie song. regarding zevon...i'll go with roland the headless thompson gunner.
  22. that celtic/laker rivalry in the 80's is a rivalry that will never be topped. but of course, living most of my life in los angeles--i've just gots to hate the celtics
  23. i recently RE-discovered a song that i listened to as a youngster...Tapioca Tundra by the Monkees...a Mike Nesmith song. Check it out, it is pretty good. i downloaded it from itunes. A couple of other songs that i don't think get enough credit are Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles and Space Oddity by David Bowie--Great songs!
  24. 60's...i'll be upset if it is that cold this weekend here in socal. just discovered an irish pub down the street from my new place--walked over there and had three harps on tap--the only bad part was that they were showing the celtics game on t.v.
