I have never watched a halftime show as far as I remember. I've seen clips and the only one that didn't look bad was Paul McCartney ... although his song choice was questionable. May as well bring back the halftime marching bands as far as I'm concerned ... the volume is going off or I'm leaving the room until the game comes back on. I haven't ever seen the Prince clip .... but I was present back in 81 or 82 when he opened for the Stones in Los Angeles. He was wearing underwear and sang his song Jack U Off and told the crowd to reach over and jack off the person next to them. Trash and food then littered the stage and after three songs ... he bailed. I remember the concert's promotion coming onstage to scold the crowd and he got pelted with trash, so they just brought on George Thorougood and the Destroyers. anyone interested in reading the story of that show, here's a link ... https://ultimateclassicrock.com/prince-booed-rolling-stones/
  2. he had a few songs that I liked ... I think the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album is alright.
  3. Like Shakeydeal eluded to ... Rolling Stone magazine doesn't carry the credibility it once did. I do not agree with many songs on this list.
  4. so, when I put on some BOSE headphones and thought they were crap ... they really were? excuse me while I go wash my head and ears.
  5. my first pair from the VA were Starkey. No problems.
  6. I had a cup of coffee today so that should renew my permission to post in this thread. It was dunkin decaf (I no longer consume ANY caffeine) and I girlied it up by putting some French vanilla creamer and sweet & low in it. I normally get Hazelnut Creme; but I'm OCD and had issues with ALL of the hazelnut offerings at the store.
  7. I help people ... that's just what I do. You're Welcome.
  8. my very first pair were Beltones ... back in 2012. Paid $3000 out of pocket. I hadn't yet applied for VA disability although I'd been out for many years. It took my employer calling HR twice concerned about my hearing loss. Boy was that a hostile meeting with HR, with me finally losing my cool and walking out of the meeting. My boss was embarrassed because he had no intention of them ganging up on me and questioning whether I was physical able to continue doing my job. That was NOT the intent of my boss, he wanted to know if HR could help me -- he had NO complaint about my performance. I've gotten two sets from the VA and have ZERO complaints about the aids or the VA service. Doctor said VA will give upgrades every five years unless your hearing loss changes and requires new ones sooner. I got new ones in the fourth year and nobody asked why I was getting them early.
  9. I've had Phonak and they were acceptable - and like Jim said ... FREE.
  10. I just got my third set the other day. I've had two IN ear and one Over the ear. I prefer the In ear as glasses and masks get tangled up in the over the ear ones and I've ripped off my t-shirt and had my hearing aids go flying. So, this time, I went back to the In ear ones; but the doctor warned me that I currently have the most powerful in ear that are available and next time, I'll need to go back to the over the ear ones. This time I went with the bluetooth feature to sync with my cell phone. So phone conversations should be easier from now on. Sadly, and I questioned the doctor about this, I find that music listening isn't as good as with a fully functioning ear. Doc said that music listening just hasn't become a priority for manufacturers. I can still hear it and enjoy it; but the hearing aids do stupid stuff like automatically adjust the volume or power to the aid. So, I can be listening to a song or playing guitar and suddenly the volume drops significantly. It's frustrating. Audiologist made some adjustments that helped; but it hasn't eliminated that from happening. Funny, just a few minutes ago, I asked my brother if the refrigerator was always this loud or are my hearing aids (which I'm still learning the bells and whistles of the new ones) was turned on full power. he said the fridge is LOUD. I was able to lower the television volume by half though.

    Jokes?

When I was in the military, our department head asked me to do something and I told him that "I'll take that under advisement." HIs response was that I'd better do more than take it under advisement. I think he was mad because he had a twin brother who came to visit once. they were identical. so naturally I asked him (the twin) if I could have the rest of the day off ... he said yes. "well, he sure looked like you, Sir."
  12. how can you watch a game that has white stripes on the football? Come on guys ... it's all a trick done with mirrors.
  13. yeah, the one thing that I'm not interested in ... more time. Thanks for the kind thought though. first day that the stomach didn't upset me today. Even after my meal I felt fine and am on my second Stella Artois -- two will do me for today, no sense pushing my luck.

    YouTube TV.....

can you view live sporing events on YouTube tv?
  15. I hope your numbers come up. if they do, are you going to be bold and tell them "double or nothing next week?" Now, THAT would make you a gambler. I bought tickets last week for the first time in a couple of years. Matched enough to get a free ticket; but a free ticket isn't tempting enough to warrant another trip to the store and the hassle of cashing it in.
  16. going dry again today ... two days in a row. stomach has been messed up for five days now. Although I'm tempted to have a drink since my stomach is already jacked up. No way I'm going to say it couldn't get any worse.
  17. reminds me of one of my family's portugee reunions. one of my cousins, a long haired truck driver, also played the accordion. He'd be playing the accordion while my 800 year old uncle was playing the guitar. the rest of the family were either drinking , fighting, or playing poker or doing all three.

    Jokes?

Been there, done that. Somewhat. I once thought I was FORWARDING an email to a co-worker. In the email, I was mocking the poor grammar skills of the email's author. It was evacuation procedures for our place of employment. I "forwarded" to my co-worker and commented, "Can you believe this was written by a grown person?" A few minutes later, I get a "READ" receipt email from the person that wrote the email. I then realized that I'd hit REPLY instead of Forward. it's been about 15 years, so I'm either in the clear or that person is still trying to write an email response. okay, that was mean; but it was the bourbon's fault.

    Jokes?

    some good ones there @RandyH
  20. nor do i. they fall from my lips at time; but RARELY in front of others. Actually, I think profanity is the most UNATTRACTIVE characteristic in a woman. on my turn off list number one is cursing and a CLOSE number 2 is smoking. I think profanity is disrespectful in that it shows an unwillingness to communicate to the listener in a respectful manner. Makes me laugh to see someone using curse words while calling another dumb or uneducated and I want to say "yet you weren't smart enough to string together words that accurately reflect your thoughts without using profanity and you're calling them dumb." maybe that's why I have few friends?
  21. I hope he likes that nickname at least. I once called a co-worker SKIPPY and then everyone started calling him that and he HATED it, but it was too late.
  22. yes, it is home. despite all the horrible crap, I still see Los Angeles on television and get homesick. I don't have any family left in Oakland ... well, I probably do; but distant ones that weren't a part of my regular life. My brother and I live together; but the rest of the siblings are all hundreds of miles apart and some in a different state. I haven't seen any of them in a couple of years. My family is a bit strange ... we all love each other; but all grew up and went our separate ways and never looked back. I have kept in contact with my brother; but for YEARS we weren't in contact either -- he was doing his thing and I was doing mine.
  23. I'm here for you to look at and say "you know, my life ain't all that bad." actually, despite everything (and there's been a bunch of it) in my life, I feel extremely blessed. Besides, as a Christian, I don't believe this world is all there is going to be, so I'm sure I'll fair better in the next one.
