Welcome to the forum PunctualAlex. I have a 7.1 system I am contemplating selling that has the KSB 3.1's as mains. IMO, $150 would be a great price and less than 60% off of what they cost new. They appear to more than hold their own (at least on paper) as the Synergy B-3 bookshelf speakers in bestbuy today at $330 a pair. []

Welcome to the forum xdetroitx. I would think in a 11 by 17 ft room the Heritage line would be too big unless you considered the Heresies. IMHO, what you have chosen in that price range is your best option. If you have access to the discontinued RF-5's/RB-75's and RC-7 near that price I would think that would be a better deal. The bottom line is that if your fingers are bleeding, I think the set up you have chosen would sound superb. [Y]

You make a great point, but actually, he already has, in a sense: Last year the company bought us a continental breakfast and a lunch at their Engineering Facility and dinner at the Jazz Kitchen. I believe you were there. This year, the company provided our lunch at the Hope plant and bought us a BBQ dinner at the farmhouse. Not to be a smartarse, but doesn't any of that count? [] Yes I remember and appreciate that. I also remember he accidentally stuck his head in last year and I thought that moment quite amusing. As you pointed out our dinning was a business expense and I am grateful for the meals. I really didn't mean to discount anyone's wishes to take Mr. Klipsch out to dinner by my comments. When It comes to the recent Pilgrimage I think we all owe Trey Cannon several nice dinners--He did a phenomenal job! [Y] Insofar as this forum is concerned I congratulate Amy for making this a productive community for it's members, but I definitely don't feel the need to take anyone out to dinner in Klipsch upper management for OUR involvement. Bump [:^)] I stopped in StarPower today along the Toll way. The good news is that after I explained to the salesman what The "Klipsch Heritage" Line was he did some research and said that he could order them for me. The bad news is that they only had a pair of RF-62 hooked up to a receiver and 2 Klipsch bookshelf speakers that weren't hooked up to anything {edit: in the Reference Line}. This beautiful Home Theater store has not had a Klipsch Reference HT setup (much less ANY Heritage speakers) the last year I have been stopping in there. I have been by there twice to hear the Klipsch THX line, both times the system wasn't up and running. This time I found their THX set up and asked if it was working. To my surprise it was. I put in my demo disk (Burning Down the House from the "Speaking in Tongues" dual disk) and came to realize that only the front 3 speakers and the 2 subs were Klipsch. The surrounds were another brand that in no way kept up with the mains and center. [] The salesperson was impressed with the song and wanted to play it on their premier system which was a Krell 5.1 system. It sounded great, but the bottom line is that I preferred the sound from the THX -650's over the Krell monitors and the sub wasn't even in the same league, imho. The search goes on...

I don't think Klipsch is really interested in selling more Heritage Line speakers. The folks that are interested in those speakers are already members of this board, IMO. The General Public isn't going into a retail store and look at pretty pictures of $3500/$5500/$7500 a pair speakers and say 'I want those," without listening to them. What I have a problem with is learning more about the product than the people who are basically an order location and having to pay full retail for speakers that I have gone to great expense and effort to hear (and not from the place that will make the profit on the sale).

I think it depends on the size of your room and the acoustical environment. IMO, if you had a smaller HT (300 sq ft or less with 8 foot ceilings) your AVR would be fine. In a larger room I can see where Amplification could add to the experience. Right now I am contemplating getting a 2 channel amp for my mains... [:^)]

I am sure that a single RB-5 would not keep up with your RF-7's and I don't think there is a way to hook up a pair of any speakers to work for a center. The only single bookshelf I would consider would be the RB-75, and even then I would hold out for an Rc-7. My 2 cents. {edit: It couldn't hurt to hook up one of your RB5's and report back--It wouldn't cost anything [] }

IMO, the RC-7 would work nicely with your setup. I have RB-5's that I tried as rears in our Bedroom to make a 7.1 HT (RC-7 center), but it was too much for my wife []. They blended well tonally and I liked it. [Y]

If I have to travel several hours to order my Klipsch Heritage line from a dealer I can't imagine a more Nirvana-type experience than appreciating the La Scalas in the Swiss Alps. [] Are you giving foreigners who come to your place a discount and do you deliver to Texas? [:^)]

Compilation disks are great.[] FYI, The Speaking in Tongues Dualdisk I speak of has 6 clean & separate channels of tremendous sound with a High Resolution DVD-A track, as well as a 5.1 Dolby track--Incredible! [H]

I prefer to run the set up listed below with all of my speakers set to large. 3 months ago I changed my subwoofer setting in my Denon AVR 4802R to LFE only, " from LFE +mains and I must say I now prefer it's tighter bass of the new setting.[]

Burning Down the House has become my new #1 favorite song to show off my Klipsch Home Theater's sonic performance. [Y] It can be found on the Talking Heads Dualdisk "Speaking in Tongues." Slippery People, is equally sublime. If you clicked on this thread because you remember an experience connected to this song in your younger days you are in for a real multi-channel treat. [] I also purchased "More Songs about Buildings and Food" and "Little Creatures," both of which aren't bad (and if you are a fan of the group quite good) and have excellent renditions of their singles. Take me to the River was/is a natural for multi-channel--Stay up Late still brings a smile to my face. I don't know if the later 2 were worth the price but "Speaking in Tongues," is a must have for high-rez head boppin aficionados. [H]

$400 would be the top price per pair. If you could get them closer to $300 that would be a better deal, imo. [H] BTW if they aren't mint, I would say between $250 to $325 for slightly flawed cabinetry.

Two of the three times I was in Star Power I had the same experience. The third time the salesperson was nice enough--just didn't want to talk about Klipsch speakers. [:|] Am I the only one that would like to see Klipsch go back into Tweeter? [*-)]

Hey Billy, Welcome to the forum. [] If you can get new RF-5's for half price I would think it would match your system quite nicely. I don't know how it compares to the RF-63 but for half the cost you couldn't go wrong. If I can find a pair of RF-5's for a good deal I am going to switch out my RF-3's that I have in my HT listed below.

IMO, if you sit with your surrounds on each side of your listening position, Bookshelf (or as stated--towers being preferable in an over-kill situation [H]) speakers work best. If you have multiple listening positions for movies (or music) then the WDST speakers work great. In our bedroom we have RS-3's for side surrounds that hang close to the corners, parallel to our heads when we are laying down (2 ft down from ceiling). Bedtime movies sound way to realistic for comfort sometimes--not that it's a bad thing.[] When we are up and about at the foot of the bed, High-Rez music emanates extremely clear from the WDST speakers and blend well with my RB-75's and RC-7.[]

Well then I must be one of the New Breed of Forum members. I own an embarrassing number of Klipsch speakers, all of which I purchased new from local retail establishments.[] I like the sound of Heritage products and went to great lengths to hear them again as an adult (What Arkansas boy doesn't know about Klipsch speakers []). I see their size being a deterrent for multi channel configurations. I also agree they would sell better in our market than most. I feel that the upper end Reference products to be the happy medium between size and acoustic capability for Multichannel sound, and what customers with a discerning ear can appreciate upon audition. Now if I can just get a local Reference or Heritage dealer who appreciates this sentiment to PM me.[6]

If I was in the business of selling Klipsch speakers I would log on to this forum to see what the people are saying and see if I could help someone (and at the same time get my name out) as several seem to be doing on this forum. Too bad there aren't any DFW outlets willing (yet) to cultivate a relationship with the faithful. [^o)] I showed off my SACD/DVD-A collection at a party we hosted using my Klipsch Legend HT. There were 60+ people there who never experienced High-Rez music and most seemed impressed. I posed this Thread after realizing that I had a handful of people asking questions about my system and looking for advice, but I had no place to send them. My last venture out to find the elusive Klipsch dealer was not a good experience so I thought I would try a different approach. I feel once found a good symbiotic relationship could follow.[H] I also rethought my involvement in this cult but decided to do my part by keeping Hope (i.e. the Plant in Arkansas[]) alive by espousing the virtues of Klipsch Speakers because imho, some models are truly Art in themselves , and most upper-end products can reproduce Art in the privacy of your own home. My continuing 2 cents.[]

I have gone through that exact process including go by those two locations you mentioned to audition the THX system, which they said they had. When I went to BOTH places on the same day I called, NEITHER place could audition the system for me because of various problems (one said their Amp was out in their HT room and the other had a problem with the sub's amp). I also called 3 other places that were within 30 miles of me and only one place was I able to audition the THX line and that place appeared to be a persons house and they ONLY had THX speakers to audition and nothing else.[:|]

Are there any Dallas area Klipsch Reference or Heritage dealers/retailers that want me to come listen to the new products?[:^)] If so, please send me a PM. []

I can't let this thread go to two pages and only one Denon recommendation.[] Yamaha makes good products but after owning 3 Yammi's I switched to the warmer sound of Denon and wish I would have started with them in the first place (I'm cheap and didn't want to spend the extra money)IMHO, if you find a Denon AVR 3805 (discontinued) for under $600 YOU may never feel the need to upgrade.[H]
