  1. Welcome to the forum Mongster1981. Between the two choices I also would opt for the RSW-15, if you have RF-7's, RF-5's or RB-75's up front with the RC-7.
  2. Thanks for clearing that up. I honestly thought the Avatar was a snapshot of our friend Jacksonbart. []
  3. I took for granted they were shielded. [:^)] I guess I was wrong. Before I purchased my Reference HT I had my KLF-20's within 3 feet of my Mitsubishi RP TV with no issues. It wasn't until I purchased the RSW-15 and put it directly in front of my TV (where my KSW-15 used to sit) that I experienced the color separation. []
  4. I agree. Before I bought my first Denon I owned 3 Yammis (RXV-793,RXV-795 and the RXV-800). They all sounded good at lower volume. It wasn't until I moved the RXV-800 to a larger room that I had problems with brightness at louder volume. The long story, short is that when I changed out the Yammi for the Denon AVR-3803 (after trying a Pioneer Elite that kept shutting down at the level I wanted), I was amazed at the difference. [] I thought WPC was WPC until I discovered THAT was a misconception. IMO, it's because the Denons are a higher current design (i.e., use more electricity) and run the speakers more efficiently. Yamaha makes quality products and are usually cheaper than the comparable Denons. Every price point has it's benefits. BTW, welcome to the forum Dreamthugg. []If you don't need video upconversion I would consider finding a discontinued Denon AVR -3805 as several have suggested.
  5. I don't have much of a problem DVD sound engineering with my setup listed below. Once in a while the crowd noise on Concerts is a bit much. The sound in Theaters doesn't compare with watching a movie on DVD in my home.[H] I don't know if it's the THX processing (for movies and concerts) but only every once in a while do I have to adjust the Center channel a few dB's. LFE is a different story--Some things I just want "Thump" overkill. [][6]
  6. Welcome to the forum Turpin. The RC-7 is an excellent center channel and would be the one I would use with your RF-5's up front. IMO, I would stick with all Reference speakers in your situation. My recommendations: 1) Find a pair of RF-7's at a good price and move the RF-5's to side surrounds. 2) Find another pair of R-5's (or RF-3's) to use as side surrounds. I am a fan of towers all of the way around []. I wouldn't use Heresies with your set up. Good luck.
  7. I use mine for everything except DTS-ES material and DVD-A/SACD audio. The first I use the Denon's DTS-ES setting and the latter I use the 5 analog cables and let the Denon DVD-3910 do the decoding. []
  8. I own 2 pairs of RB-75's. One that I am using as Mains in my Bedroom and the other used as Rears, listed in the system below. The Bedroom system sounds phenomenal but in no way compares to my main HT. Today for fun I moved out the RF-7's and replaced them with the RB-75's--I don't know how they can "more than keep up with the two 10" woofers in the RF-7," but IMHO, there is a definite reason I chose the RF-7's to use in my main Klipsch Ultimate Reference Home Theater [].
  9. I hope you find a solution to your problem. I don't know what differences there are in the Denon AVR 4802 and the Denon AVR 4802R (which is THX Ultra II certified) but my system is not harsh at all. I won't discount that more power would make them run more efficiently; however that would seem to effect the woofer's performance more than the tweeter's wouldn't it? [:^)] I would guess your room would have something to do with your situation, but if you have heavy carpet and heavy curtains I wouldn't think you would be having a lispy problem unless you have a low ceiling or a large room. How big is your room? The reason I may get away without having a bigger amp is because I have a small room with high ceilings (approx.16x20 with A-Frame ceiling)My Home Theater is basically in my library so I have alot of books that act as room treatment (I will try to get a link to the photo section). My last thought is if we are still talking 2-channel it may be the source material. FWIW my Denon/Klipsch RF-7 based Home Theater handles multichannel material flawlessly, IMO [] I don't have much gain on my front speakers and I have my side surrounds lowered by 3 dB. My Rear RB-75's I have set to +7 dB and I always have the volume between -20 to -12 and achieve clear dialog and vocals within Reference range.
  10. I use Monster 16 gauge speaker wire. I don't use pure direct at all (I played around with it but I prefer using the bass management in my Denon DVD-3910). I only listen to SACD's and DVD-A through my 5 analog cables. When I watch DVD concerts I play them through the "THX Music" setting and for movies usually the "THX Cinema" setting (although on some DTS material I like the "DTS" setting). With DVD's I use the optical connection and let the Denon AVR-4802R do the decoding. On all music I set the crossover on the AVR to 60 Hz and for movies I set it at "THX" (i.e., 80 Hz). I just realized this is a "2 channel" topic, but wanted to respond because of the Denon AVR-4802R/RF-7 connection.[]
  11. FWIW, I have the Setup listed below and I don't have to adjust the Treble at all. [:^)] I have had numerous people listen to my system through the years and never have they described it as harsh and lispy. It's usually something like "OMG []," and then a bunch of compliments. []. I have pictures of my setup in "Photos" on this site. If you have any questions on why my RF-7's and Denon 4802R sound so good feel free to post. I can't imagine that much of a sound difference from the day they were delivered to 40 hours later.
  12. Imo, if you can pick them up for $800 you will not be disappointed. I also feel they are going to be hard to find at retail stores. If you have to pay $950 NIB, that would be worth the investment compared to the new RB-81's (of course that is not an impartial recommendation []--I have not heard the RB-81's).
  13. Welcome to the forum over13. My RB-75's have a 1.75 inch driver (the RB-81 has a 1 inch), weighs 2 lbs heavier, and has a Cherry wood veneer (vs the RB-81's plastic) housing. I can't imagine the RB-81, looking or sounding better than my RB-75's. If you are lucky enough to find a pair they may be discounted. On a bang for your buck comparison I would opt for a pair of RB-75's. That being said I have not heard the new bookshelves.
  14. I would call your local tweeter (don't go by) and ask if they have any "of those discontinued Denon AVR's laying around for $600? If so I will come by and pick one up." Couldn't hurt to ask and it may be worth their while to get you in the store [].
  15. In my Denon AVR-3805 manual it is described in the "Surround" chapter (you don't need to push "test"). While your source is playing and you push the "Enter" button it cycles through your various channels each time you push it. When it comes to "SW" it allows you to use your cursor to adjust the dB of your subwoofer.
  16. Welcome to the forum sn3nut. I am not familiar with those exact speakers (although I think I have seen them at Bestbuy). If you like the way they sound for your mains, then I would think you would like them for your surrounds. They also (of course) would be tonally matched to the rest of the system. Check the Klipsch Homepage to see what other speakers match those for Home Theater. Insofar as 7.1 is concerned [:^)], it's nice, but IMO not necessarily worth the extra cost. Good luck.
  17. Welcome to the forum foxkat. I don't really understand your configuration and don't know what Audyssey is, but I will tell you how I have my system set up. I have my RSW-15 (and RSW-12) hooked up to the LFE out on my Denon 4802 R, and set the crossover (80 Hz for movies and 60 Hz for music) in the AVR, and bypass the RSW's crossover. I then have my subs volume slightly past the half way point and use the Denon's dB and channel control to manipulate the RSW's volume. I also have 2 other Denons with the Subwoofer hooked up this way and they all THUMP. []
  18. I have 2 pairs of RS-3's and like them very much. If you listen to Multichannel music or concert DVDs (along with side placement for Movies) I would consider trying to find a pair of RB-5 bookshelf speakers (or even another pair of RF-3's to use as side surrounds--that's what I use []). IMO, the WDST style speaker works better if you have multi-viewing locations (i.e, couch and seating that's not parallel to your surrounds)or if they are close behind you on a wall where your seating is. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on the newer RS-42 with your current system, but that's just me.
  19. I saw this thread that had the Denon AVR-3805 for $579: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/684105/ShowPost.aspx IMO that would be a KILLER deal. I heard that Tweeter has a few NIB models left and I bet if you approached them right you could get close to that price from a brick and mortar store with a 2 year warranty (don't buy the Tweeter extended warranty).
  20. I would love to have 3 Klipsch t-shirts in XL and 1 in MD as described above. I have held off on posting on this thread because I won't pay over $25 (and in fact $20 would be more in line for the nicest of T-shirts).
  21. FWIW, I'm not fond of fish however I have no problem paying the allotted amount. I just thought I should speak up now in case I am not the only one.[]
  22. Welcome to the forum, ecobb993. I don't know about a download, but on most THX DVD's there is an audio setup feature that helps you do that.
  23. I didn't realize you were a Homebrewer. There are several of us on this forum. It's been 6 years or so, since I brewed. Just like with my discovery of Belhaven, I stopped trying to make different beers after I found Muntons Nutbrown Ale. My favorite recipe is to make that with frozen raspberries--delightful. [<)] If I can get motivated I may try to make some for the Pilgrimage.
  24. Belhaven Scottish Ale is brewed in Dunbar Scotland (from what I hear-the Home of Golf). I think it is one of the few breweries that still use wooden barrels to ferment their product. It's not as sweet and heavy as McKewns Scottish Ale and has a delicate aftertaste. I discovered it 5 years ago and prefer it to ANYTHING else. It's too bad you aren't coming or I would have brought you a couple.
  25. It appears the thread entitled "What I REALLY think about Damon Payne" has been deleted.[] I am sure it wasn't because of anything I said. It was a REAL interesting read though--Sorry you missed it. [] Glad to have you back.
