  1. I have an MPS-1 and I love it. I have owned a DMR-1 reciever and the MPS-1. The quality, value and customer service at Emotiva is exceptional. Enjoy your new amp!
  2. I had a smaller reference system and sold some RS-25's. They did a good job with the system, but I would look at the new generation surrounds. Try to find a pair of RS-52's or better yet RS-62's. I would also go for the center channel. As for the rears, look for RB-35's or RB-51's. Your surrounds should envelope the sound field and your rear speakers should radiate toward your seating area. All of this is predicated on the assumption that you, like most of us, will upgrade again and with this set-up you can just upgrade the towers first. [6] Happy hunting.
  3. I agree with Bill. I have a 103" AT electric retractable screen from Chris Seymour. His screens have an accoustically transparent black backing that eliminates any glare behind it. I had a portable pull up screen that I used in front of my TV for about a year and finally broke down and installed a SeymourAV screen. It is a very nice product. When I was first looking, I could not find an AT screen in a pull down.
  4. Reference series is hard to beat for clean power. I installed a WF/WC/WS system in my sisters very small living room last Christmas with a small subwoofer. For that application, it was a great system. Very nice sound and very clean fit. Is there a reason you do not have a subwoofer?
  5. I agree. The lossless codecs create an enveloping feel that is very natural. You pick up more detail and feel as though you are in the scene. I also find that the big bang scenes in movies are not as boomy. They seem much more natural and believable. I have really enjoyed the HD codecs.
  6. I use these B-Tech's to mount my RB-35's. They work very well.
  7. I use RB-35's for rear with my RF7's and RC7. I also use the Btech mounts and they work great. I highly recommend the RS-62's as they complement my 7's very well. I think you will be very happy with them. Enjoy!
  8. Looking at your picture with the tape on the wall, you can visualize why I have basically quit watching my TV in the theater room. My room is 17 X 27 X 9 and a 61" TV does not fill it up like a 96" PJ screen. Prices on projectors are falling fast. If you wait until after the holiday rush, you may find some really good deals. There are a lot of new models being released for the holidays and I think some very good projectors will have big price cuts. Good Luck in your search,
  9. Actually it was the remnants of Ike. There was a lot of flooding and high winds had caused some debris on the tracks. I rented a car and drove from Indy. When I got to Merrillville, they diverted me onto 30 west to 157 because 80/94 was closed due to flooding. A very long trip in bumper to bumper traffic with a lot of big rigs.
  10. I would be very interested in this train trip. I had a business meeting in Chicago last month and book with Amtrak ($33 round trip from Indy). My train was cancelled when hurricane Ike hit Chicago. Now I ask you, who would have thought a hurricane would hit Chicago. Anyway, I think it would be a fun trip if we had a group on board.
  11. I am waiting until after the holidays. I am noticing that the newest players that are releasing since CEDIA will have all of the features I am waiting for. As a bonus, the price seems to be dropping. I will probably buy either the Panasonic 55 or the Sony 550 unless something new pops onto the scene before then.
  12. This set up is in my dedicated HT. I do have another TV in the living room, but hardly watch it. Cinderalla would look great on the Big Screen. []
  13. Since it appears you are starting with a clean slate, I recommend you invest in a front projector and screen. I have a 60" Panny RP LCD and purchased an Epson HC1080 front projector with a 92" screen that comes down in front of the TV for watching movies. The TV hardly ever gets turned on any more. You will enjoy DVD's and BluRays much more on a larger screen and with the cost of new front projectors, they have become a bargain if you have the space and ability to control lighting. I do not endorse any particular TV or Projector. Do your research and view as many as you can. Just keep in mind, it is hard to match your viewing environment in a store. Look for the image that appears most consistent to you and your family.
  14. I would recommend the bookshelfs, especially if they are going to be 7 feet behind you. The RS speakers feature a wide dispersion and work very well on the side walls. When you place them on your rear wall, you will want to drive the surround field to your sitting position. I think RB's will do a better job in your application.
  15. I would consider this. It might be fun to travel the old fashioned way.
  16. I think you can get two rows of seating in there without too much effort. You might consider two reclining sofa's rather than the traditional "theater seating". It would provide the seating you need at a greatly reduced price. We special ordered Lazy Boy reclining furniture in a black and charcoal fabric for less than half the cost of theater seating. I built a riser out of 2x6 lumber and mdf. You can place fiberglass insulation between the 2x6 lumber for more sound deadening if you need and then cover with carpet to match the room. In our case the builder left us the excess carpet from the install of the house. This works well for us.
  17. weinstock - Welcome to the Klipsch Community! In order for us to help with your options, we will need some additional information. You state that you have constraints of the room. Could you expand on that statement? What are the dimensions LxWxH and any other constraints? Will you be 100% movies - 50/50 movies and music? How low do you want your subwoofer to go? And any other information about your listening habits would help. Good Luck in your pursuit, Dave
  18. If it is not too late, I would take back one set of RS-42's and keep the RB-61's for rears. When I was upgrading my surrounds, Colter recommended bookshelf for the rears instead of surrounds. He said to place surrounds on the side walls and bookshelfs in the rear. It made a big difference for my theater. Instead of the rears just setting there, they drive the surround stage back toward you. It is a much better effect in my room.
  19. Try this site. http://www.coolerguys.com/cabinetcooling.html I bookmarked several months ago to add a dual fan to my cabinet, but have not gotten around to it yet. Someone on another board directed me here and several people stated that they had fans from here that were very quiet.
  20. I added an MPS-1 to my system about a year and a half ago. It really opened up my RF-7's and RC-7. They are very efficient, but they do like power. The MPS really lets them breath. They seem to have more detail and a lot more punch. The MPS never has any trouble keeping up with them. I went with the class H because of the separate modules with their own power. I am not an electronics guru, so my common sense approach may not matter. I just thought the individual transformers made sense and the flexibility of configuration was also attractive. Anyway, I have been very happy with an MPS-1 hooked to my Reference 7's. I use my system for 95% movies and the soundtracks seem more dynamic.
  21. I have an MX-850 and I was able to download the software. Once you have it downloaded you have access to upgrade, etc. I recommend downloading and printing the programming manual. It helps with learning the set up. When you use it once you will have the hang of it and find that these remotes have limitless possibilities for set up and macros.
  22. Universal Remote 850. It is RF & IR - computer programmable - seemingly unlimited macros. I replaced a Harmony with this remote and could not be happier, well maybe if it could make snacks and bring beverages. []
  23. Travis, These are awesome. I am quite surprised that they arrived so quickly. You were so shocked when they called your name, I am sure you will enjoy these as part of that new "2 channel" system you are putting together. [] Dave
  24. Are you happy with the sound of your current system? Do the 51's fill the rear of your room when they need to? Are you using the system for DVD, BluRay, music? Can you audition them and take back if you do not hear a significant difference?
