  1. Well thank you. Great new avatar, the old one was funny. Tell your better half she is well,....... the better half, by far...............I know it not your wife but couldn't help myself. Haaa! Thx! I told you already I wasn't even remotely as handsome as the whacky "leatherneck" in my last avatar. That dude has to be a hidden super hero of some sort. Yep, forgive my thread crap. I couldn't resist posting the Tiki chick that is obviously not my photo.

    Snagged the LaScalas

Well done! LaScala's make you forget about the rest of your lineup. Like everyone else has said, keep your budget low. Sand and fill, sand and fill. If you are a 2-20 watt listener, consider some of Bobs A style networks. They can be had for $100 bucks a side brand new and sound great. Also, I wouldn't paint them black. I have a set of black Industrial LS's and the black gets old quick. I would love for them to have a raw wood finish.
  3. Well done CJ ! I seriously think that is one of the "prettiest" Walnut patterns I have seen on Chorus's and maybe even on the Heritage series.
  4. Thank you, but to tell the truth that tree was only trimmed once a few months ago because it one wild branch grew down, so I cut it off. That tall skinny tree on the left (in the left pic) is a Bloodgood and it's been there undisturbed for 15 years and just won't take off ? You know what's crazy, 11 Japanese maples in that garden and I made the building in the middle a tiki bar. It should have been a Japanese style garden and building and it would have looked better with the pond and all..........but not as much fun, so tiki it is. And I always wanted a Japanese garden, and we only did one Japanese garden in all the years we did landscaping. Some others, different stages of redoing everything and cutting back. Maple's compliment any kind of Bar ! Very nice dtel.
  5. Best looking Veneer I have seen on a Chorus
  6. What a sanctuary your have dtel. I have a Green Jap I will get a photo of, but its not a full size tree like yours. I think your Green Jap is the best structured I have ever seen. I had a friend and his father had full size blood reds that large, but I have never seen greens that big. I think mine is a green lace leaf. Great photos BTW !
  7. Is that a massive Green JAP Maple in the center of that photo? If so, that thing has to be old!
  8. Just my experiences.......and this is around 12 hours smoking. I agree, for pork butts I have tried 190 degrees and it was still fatty and some tough pieces. Pork butts at 195-197 perfect, most of the fat has cooked off with enough left to not be dry and pulls easy. Pork butts at 200 and it's starting to get a little dry I know it's only a few degrees but it may be over a hour cooking time and the end result is completely different. I think you're spot on dtel. I like my shoulders done. Now the tenderloins I like a little more wet. Anymore I really try and avoid the shoulders just from the cook time and work involved unless its for a friend or my mom. Now I don't mind doing the extra time for a good beef brisket though!
  9. I have owned both, but never had them side by side for a comparison. The Belles look better IMO, but the LaScalas have the larger mid horn that might have some benefits. A tough choice that's for sure.
  10. I have a set of RB's and a matching center in my Den, but I cant remember if they have the 5 inch or 6 inch woofers. Either way they sound exceptionally good for a big speaker, even though they are little jokers.
  11. To me there is nothing worse than stripping and culling the fat of an undercooked shoulder/butt. It gets slimy in the center... Yuck. Since I smoke Ribs, Sausage, Chicken and who knows what all at once, I never know how long my box has held what temp and for how long. Although having the probe tells you exactly the temp is with the larger cuts. No one breaks out the probe for ribs and what not, but the big chunks are the only way to cook. Maybe your probe is broke. I have had a one or two that damn near drove me crazy with inaccurate readings.
  12. Its the only way to cook a big butt, shoulder or brisket. I need a probe telling me what the temp is in the center of a 15-20lb shoulder after its been in a smoker for 8 hours. This thing makes it a breeze and will even play may favorite song when it reaches the temp I desire. Now that is something that needs a Klipsch logo on it
  13. Igrill. Blu tooth to your phone. I have 2 other old school wireless setups, but this one has good range and is by far the best so far. It comes with two probes too. Doh! Looks like there is a new version out. Igrill2
  14. Chorus II's are too nice to take outside, unless they are beaters. Even if you avoid the drink ring on the top and/or someone jacking the volume knob, the MDF cab. will absorb moisture.
  15. So...why wasn't the Heresy ported all along?

A man walks int a bar

Did you hear about the girl that went up to the cop and said, "I was just violated by an Aggie!". The cop asked how she knew it was Aggie. She said, "Because I had to help him."
  17. Its an unusual looking Tambourine and what I think are Sleigh Bells. At least they were used live in '85. Don't know about the studio version http://youtu.be/bl3X5zuYaiA
  18. They have them in Canada also, ehh HeHe! ehh......uh no!
  19. Yeah. I was going to say..."Welcome to California".
  20. What a wonderful sound that thing made. I would drag out a lawn chair for that event. Maybe the thrower had kids. Maybe he didn't want the Lambo sitting in his Den from a mishap and end up on TV like the Fast and Furious guy. Lots of variables here, but since there was a video guy out there, I bet he was making multiple passes. Not that Im saying you should throw rocks at people with more money than sense in half mil Lambo's, but in this case maybe the squeaky wheel got the grease. It did sound like he threw a half a brick though!
  21. You can go nuts here. Tons of Rose Wood varieties http://www.oakwoodveneer.com/veneers/az.html
  22. Geez I figured an "old timer" would be all about a custom built ornamental train engine BBQ!
  23. Thanks for the clarification Michael. Maybe I should try running my Mini through my Oppo, as I might get a better result?
