This is a question that cant be answered, not even from taking listed specs.on the best of the best. Generally when you are dealing with the upper or (boutique) brands, the higher the price the more exotic and precise the internals are. Unless you need a CD Changer, I would buy an Oppo 95 Universal player ($500) and call it a day. This unit will play just about anything and perform above many players that cost twice its price.

Rush: Moving pictures on BluRay. The DTS mix changes the content and delivery slightly from the old 2 channel. Dynamics are phenomenal for an old rock album with so much going on in it. In the beginning of YYZ Neil is hitting the triangle or bell and it circles the room from speaker to speaker. There are three videos included that are originals of them playing in their studio, yet the music is playing is in DTS. Its really, really strange watching these old Analog video's, but hearing the music that is perfectly in sync.with the video in a modern state of mix, it just stumps the brain. The tracks, Camera Eye and Witch Hunt will make any Rush fans hair stand on its end. My favorite DVD A is Steely Dans album Gaucho. This album is more impressive to me than Dark Side on SACD. The dynamic range of this piece is beyond all I have heard....(not that I have heard it all). The rest's in the music are totally silent. The vocals, crisp and incredibly clear. The distribution of the drums and the backup singers just leave the two channel stuff in the boring category after you give it a listen. This album is so clean you can hear a few riffs of one of their keyboards slightly over driven.

But it was and is 100% correct and worded as nice as it could be. There wasn't anything negative about HIS comments.I've been enjoying this thread, because some great points have been made. Nah, not what I read. I also love the Jub and Jub clone threads. I just stepped in to call a spade a "spade". Too many non "engineered" references made about the OP's components and the final comparison of his "clones" directed towards mixed and matched vehicles in a once again, underhanded tone. Some of you guys may have read it as a hand on the shoulder approach, but indeed it sounded like a friendly approach of kicking someones dog to me. Someone ALWAYS steps in to bust someones chops over a set of clones, usually regardless of the situation. I say let a man bask in his enjoyment for his newly aquired speakers. No reason to list nit picks of "non engineered" Klipsch components that they obviously know didnt come from Klipsch.

"You have wood horn....me have engineered Klipsch 402"..... " You have knock-off "homemade" bass bin......me have engineered Jubillee real deal". Its pretty obvious the masked enjoyment you took pointing out every little item of the mans setup that wasnt a factory spec item or as you would say "engineered". I have regular old 10 gauge wire running to my surrounds and center on bananna plugs. I also have some pretty expensive solid core Audioquest running to my mains and I dont think there is any way in the world someone could hear the difference.

Does anyone have a photo of an AL-3 after the updating of the caps? I placed all the new caps where the old ones were, but that schematic sheet has me wondering if I should have changed something up.

Well I had a good weekend. My Denon 4311 came in on Friday and the caps came in on Sat. I managed to play with the new reciever a little bit Fri. night and some Sat. I went ahead and ran Audyssey before I updated the caps to see if I could see a difference on the graph....(as crude as they are I am doubting it). I searched online for a picture of an AL-3 with updated caps to make sure I got it right, but couldnt find one. Luckily the speakers still sound good! It may be the new AVR fooling me, but the mid and tweeter seem to have a little more definition or are possibly getting a little higher frequencies fed to them.

There are a couple of electrolytic caps in the AL-3 . Well I guess I need to dig out my old soldering iron. Thanks Speakerfritz.

Thanks Speakerfritz. I have heard talk of X-over components getting old and possibly some are oil filled and can dry out in time? I was considering just getting a rebuild kit. As cheap as the kit is, should I even mess with it?

Im thinking about freshening things up a bit in my '92 Industrials. I believe they have the AL-3 networks. I have read about several upgrades from different outfits and how some make things too bright and so on. I guess Im looking for what the most popular upgrade people are going with now and most importantly...the most cost effective. Thanks for the help

I have heard from a few that Emo recommends the multi channel UPA's for Klipsch due to noise floor problems from the XPA's. I dont own either, but when you start looking at specs on them it may be understandable.

All of the older Belles I have seen had the smaller cast aluminum mid horn. I assumed they updated the modern versions to the larger size like the LaScalla and the K horn. I know the Lascalla and the K horn went to the composite style horn. My question is why was the Belle fitted with a smaller sized squaker all along?

No offense jhoak, but 50 bucks wouldnt be worth the risk to me with all the "what ifs" happening these days. Having said that, do you still have the original box and paper work? Post some pics if you are wanting to get rid of it as I would definately give it some thought at $400.

Well the Oppo 93 is at the top of the list, but I was wondering if there was something in the $350 range that might be comparable. I guess I will just hold out a little longer and get the 93.

Looking for an SACD capable 3D BluRay player. The Oppo 93 is roughly $500. Is this the best bang for the buck out there or does someone have another player in mind that would be close at a better price?

I know there are several obvious answers to this, but give me yours. There are a lot of people out there that cant stand a horn and continue to buy one of the thousands of flavors of "mid towers" or bookshelf type speaks (take your pick of brand). I was spoiled with a set of Cornwall II's starting back in 1987. I have never heard any normal speaker since then that was comparable IMO. Actually in 1984 I was rattled by a neighbors set of Heresy's and knew I had to have some horns....and so it began. I guess its the shear sonics of the mids with their details and the dynamics that give a 3 dimensional sound or at least what I hear with whats left of my ears. Vocals seem so lifelike and effortless. Everytime I hear a conventional/high tech new design that is basically a rehashed version that started decades ago with Norman Labs just leaves me with a sterile sound. Its almost like trying to hear the music pumped through one of grandmas old quilts[] I was just curious as to what everyone thought about all the "Horn haters" out there.

These guys have great prices and have heard they are great to deal with from other audio sites, but I have not bought anything from them. I dont know if they are authorized or not, but the listing does show it comes with a warranty and the company has been around for 30 years. I would be willing to bet it is a in house warranty at that price, but maybe I am wrong. I have seen the 3311 offered in the $879 range at more than one outlet. The 4311 is going in the $1370-$1450 range. Lots of merchants out there ready to deal. Personally I would take the 3311 over the 4310 even though the 4310 has a little beefier amp. IMO, the two top receivers out there to own right now are the 4311 or the Onkyo 5008. The Onk is a tad higher and the best price I have found is $1599. For the money you cant beat the Denon 3311 though. Denon will release the new unit replacing the 4310 this summer, after that we should see prices continue to fall. I too am looking at a new receiver, but I am waiting until summer to see how much prices continue to fall.

I think it has more to do with the economy and some "better halfs" saying no! The toy market is flooded right now and I assume used speakers are right there with them. Most of the Heritage line isnt something most people can accomodate even if they can afford them. I tell you what though, the whole RB line holds its value very well.

I believe the KLF has poly woofers which means a damp rag would be fine. I would not use any cleaners on them and be careful not to put a dent in the dust cap. Boy that would ruin the weekend.
