  1. Castration, but it's takes very, very small garden shears.
  2. Well first - gratz on the deal, it sounds exciting and is an adventure for sure. We lived over by Wendells and then in Walden Lakes for a good while before moving to Tampa. I like PC, but am sure it's grown. Regarding the closet idea, it should be pretty easy, especially if there are plugs on the opposite side of the wall. You could attack from the back and attach on. Might think a bit to just be sure all the gear you wind up with doesn't overlad that circuit. Probably won't. Some people would try to run a dedicated line that they could put a filter/breaker on. That's a nice way if you can pull the lines. Probably pretty easy if you have attic access. If your builder still has some trade guys around, they may run the outlets ultra fast for you. You can always approach them direct and they might do it for 50 bucks. Otherwise you probably just need to snake a wire from an existing outlet. It's not that hard. I'd actually put at least a low and high outlet in the closet or you will possibly end up with a lot of power cord spaghetti. If the outlet you are tying onto is wired 3 way, or say to control a light, things can get a little bit ... stranger. Usually those outlets will have one side always hot and the other switched. Just hook onto the hot side. I'm not an electrician so On Guard! But what your after is pretty easy I'd think.
  3. I'd run some wires for subs to a couple locations I'd run speakers wires to the rears and dead end in wall plates in case you decide to ever add floor speakers I'd run wires for a computer music server I'd run PVC pipe chase so I could run whatever I wanted down the road! I'd try to run wires for a future projector You might have already done or thought about all this ...
  4. Youthman - did you get the house?
  5. I'm with Seti - Mesopotamia is it for me! Saw them open for a Hockey game a couple years ago, they were great
  6. I've used both those and http://www.soundstagedirect.com/
  7. 3 pallets - wow that thing must have regen'd hourly! Agreed, but the cost/flow rates on UV were kinda pricey when I put it in. Looks like a decent UV that flows ~12-14 gpm is about a grand now. That could work. Good idea - thanks
  8. For managing water I find good scotch works better than a filter. Now if you want a real filter ... I chose to go with two Big Blue sediment filters as the first step. Then a Fleck 7000 carbon filter which is likely overkill. Next a Fleck 7000 water softener. We bought our softener and carbon filter here. There was an old Culligan system we gave away that had a leaking bypass valve and they didn't make parts for it any longer. Those Fleck units are fantastic, supporting whole house flow rates (less pressure drop than many units). I use two, one is just a carbon filter for all water, the second is a softener. We're on a well in a downtown urban area. Only problem is lack of chlorination for the carbon. A few ways to solve that - backflush with chlorine (not bad), inject chlorine (I'm too cheap), toss a pool chlorine tab in the big blue once in a while (yipee, we have a winner!) These things totally smoke most similar equipment for residential flow rates. Both units are really the same, one has the resin bed for softening, the other carbon for filtering. They only cost a bit more than a Sears job. I think my entire system was about $1,600 compared to $3,000 from Culligan for just a softener (with a smaller throat). After a lot of cussing and a few leaks it works fine.
  9. Sadly they seem to go quite cheap. I just donated two Meade scopes to Goodwill. For yours, given the 699 list price, even tho they get discounted you might get a tax deduction of 100-150 bucks. That might be more that the yard sale value. Often works out that way it seems. Less headache sometimes too. Depends on tax bracket I suppose. 10. Broadly speaking MP3 files shrink by losing data via algorithms. Once that data is gone, you cannot really "restore" it. I don't think you can really uncompress once compressed. You can do things to further process the compressed file. I doubt you will miss that function one way or the other. Now, if you like the effect itself, then you may prefer a unit with that processing capability. But I don't think you can make lost data re-appear.
  11. Give me a shout if you become interested Gary. PG is one of my favs. We'll see if we can figure something out.
  12. Mine arrived this week. Can't remember how long I waited for this thing. Seems like it was over a year. Anyway I'll crack er open this weekend. I've always been hooked on In The Evening for no explainable reason. I'm slowly trying to grab up the 200g re-issues, not doing so well there as some of them are getting kind of $$$.
  13. - What a sweet lil cat, sits up in the trees. Training a terrier to like cats after he's grown up would be no small feat. It would take a lot of attention and supervision. Possibly electroshock therapy or drugs. Maybe both. For you and the dog! Good luck there.
  14. You don't know me good enough to be so judgemental, but I can tell that won't stop you. Guess you hate dogs too, eh? Don't worry, be happy.
  15. Well good luck with the pups. I can't imagine trying to walk around with 6 or 7 lil bulldogs locked on your shoelaces. Bet they are a hoot! Yes, I do miss them. These should hold me until I can get squared away. I'm afraid to even show my wife MCMs.
  16. Well I'm the proud new owner of two Cornwalls. Birch plywood, X code, so I think 1982 models. Pretty good shape but I plan to veneer them. Can't wait to get them going tomorrow night! Since selling the KHorns, the little DCM TimeWindows just aren't working for me, even with the sub. Bring on the music!
  17. Agree - curtains and rugs. Carpet if it's tacked = damage
  18. You can run HDMI to your TV and just use component audio outs to a receiver that doesn't handle HDMI. Provides stereo, or your receiver can likely fake the rest if you want surround.
  19. Agreed, Black Dog would have been much saner - Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way Watch your honey drip, cant keep away.
  20. This black deterent works on cats too!
  21. Agree with jbsl - you can run HDMI direct to TV and pull audio out signal from TV or go audio out from PS3 to receiver. The setup instructions have a warning that to me was a little confusing about multiple audio outs so I just plodded on and hooked it up and all worked fine.
  22. I got one too over the weekend to replace a dead DVD player. Started out with supplied AV cable, L/R into stereo and video to TV, came up 480. Pic was nice ... and working. Dug around and found HDMI cable and resolution improved to 1080p, stunning comes to mind. Hooked ethernet cable from PS3 to wireless router and it recognized it instantly. Cool. Still using audio L/R out poked into a VCR input for sound. I don't have nuff digital inputs and only run stereo anyway. Box came with Metal Gear 4. I croak a lot. Wireless controller is nice compared to older xBox. All in all it was easy setup. The game is not easy, but I don't game much anyway. Think I'll buy the remote for DVD control. The PS3 internal fan is loud for music.
  23. Bonks Hifi Jim - hehe, good one No hot water Salt or Resolve or Shampoo are worth a try Peroxide is popular as mentioned but remember it's a bleach too Soak with any of the first three and scrub Peroxides effectiveness is reduced if the carpet is really wet
