  1. Just a little wood veneer work and it would be fine. 🙄

  3. So by the time you buy all the parts, chassis, etc., how much is a person into for one of these? What kind of power does this one put out? I'm sure Amir dislikes these, too?
  4. I use a highly updated & upgraded Carver M-1.0t MkII Opt 002 (long name, I know) which I've owned for 15 years now and has been upgraded for 10. It has stayed where others including a $2,500 Onkyo reference amp, rebuilt Mcintosh MC250, MA230, & MC5100 amps, and others, have not stayed. I have never thought the Carver was missing "detail" nor has anyone else that's heard it. It's been ran on many, many speakers, too.
  5. I've been pondering a P6 myself to replace, or use in place of, my Carver C-1 with all the BillD mods. Parasound is out of them and I am still waiting on the Manufacturers rep for my area to call back about the search for one as I could probably get one at rep sample price IF they were available. (was in that industry for 25 years) Kind of slim pickin's right now, unfortunately.
  6. You can easily tell by their post counts which are 60,000 apart.
  7. @Bubba_Buoy And it could just be that a) they don't work in your room(s) like the other person had trouble with, or, b) they just aren't the speakers for you. Room acoustics can be a killer even with speakers that may be "known" to have good/decent bass. Sometimes it takes a sub, or subs, to get to that point. My upstairs room acoustics do that to me when I compare the bass of any speakers being on the long wall versus the short wall in a 15 x 28 room. Being on the long wall always gives me better bass but the layout is a little rougher. When on the short wall, there's more room nodes where I lose bass in my listening spot. I'm currently torn on wanting to put it back the way it was where I was sitting on the long wall and I was about 10 feet back so I'm less dependent on a sub (Sunfire HRS-12). What's the room dimensions? Is it carpet, wood, tile, etc? Are there rugs? Does the space behind you open up into another room as in open floor plan? Got pictures of the room? I doubt you have speaker or crossover problems but there's always a slim chance. What speakers did you have in the room before? How did they sound?
  8. Wow... I remember when I snagged a set of original owner '78 KWO's back in June 2008 for $500 which included his original gallon of Watco Walnut Danish Oil that was tagged at under a dollar. ha Was my first post on the forum, actually. I hated having to sell those when the economy tanked and I lost my job manufacturers rep job summer 2009, then sold my house, sold lots of stuff, paid everything off, went back to college at 43, and started over.
  9. I went through that stage and sold it all over the last 10 years. I wish I had it all back now to sell at the stupid prices some bring currently; especially the SX-1980 I had. And maybe the Sansui gear.
  10. Did you not catch the sarcasm in our replies about the pricing? Not to mention, not everyone wants a pair of LS's or Khorns, of which I've owned both, along with Belle clones that I built. I agree in that $2800 is way too much but so is tons of other stuff right now.
  11. I've currently just got the ads L1230's and CF-3 v1's but have listed the CF-3's as I want to try some other things; one potentially being the Studio 590's. Or, the larger set of L1530's, which I loved back when they were new. Missed out on a couple of killer deals over the last couple months....Vestorovic System 12a's and VMPS RM40's. If I could have made it on a Friday, I could have had either....but I was on call and apparently people couldn't wait till the next morning. Sheesh.
  12. They both seem to get good reviews albeit the basic cabinet finish is their main downside. Every time those 580's and 590's go on sale for $600 and $900 shipped, respectively, I have to hide my credit card.
  13. I was going to mention the JBL Studio 530's whenever they run them for $240/pr shipped (reg $599) Have a 30 day return policy.
  14. Wow... That means I should be asking about $2500 for my satin black CF-3 v1's when I decide to sell them? I'm in on that.
  15. Thank you, Jim. It's only been a rare occasion that I'd seen this style of "Heresy knockoff" and the last time I personally did was in Denton, TX maybe 15 years ago. I do recall the crossovers being different and they had a pair of what may have been attenuation switches on the back.
  16. No. It was these speakers from years ago and a person on AK found a pair recently. I had also seen a pair in a pawn shop in Denton, TX maybe in 2007.
  17. I know I've seen them somewhere in the past but wasn't there a Texas based company who PWK gave the OK to make a Heresy style speaker with a slot port in the front? These also used a pair of toggle switches in the back and had the K-700 horn and T-35 tweeters. Even used the older style speaker connections, too. Maybe there were a couple of models? I don't think it was JW Davis but someone else...
  18. Best deal ever right there. Support local craftsmanship and learning all in one!
  19. Use this program to help you with the cuts and to minimize waste and also put in the thickness of the wood. You can always make the initial cuts on certain panels a little longer and cut down....but you can't do that in reverse. Get the dog house right and then everything else will come together. https://www.maxcutsoftware.com/ Matter of fact, here is the actual cut sheet I made using the above program and is set for 11/16" wood. Download the program I linked and install it, and you should be able to just open this right up and print it out. The only part I did not build was the grills as I had bought those from someone along with the K-500 horns. Do you have the horns already or are you doing something different for the HF? If I were do ever build a set again, I would make them a 2-way and NOT a 3-way, personally. Belle Cut List 9.15.17.mc3
  20. Don't overthink the build too much. If the size is a tad off on the bass bins, you're not really going to miss any bass that they already don't really have.
  21. The plans are more of a guideline than anything. When I built my Belle clones about 4.5 years ago using Baltic birch, I went off of the plans and added a little in spots. It's mainly the bass bins you have to watch. If you get the height right, and cut all of those panels at the same time, you run into less issues. I had no problems.
