  1. That setup should be plenty suffiecient. Hereseys make a very good center as alot of what the center reproduces is in the range where they do the best. EJ
  2. Good points Jim, if I had the choice I would get the heresey's regardless of what I use them for just because they sound so great. Regardless of what happens to them or if things need replacing in the end you still have a set of heritage that you wouldn't have had otherwise. EJ
  3. Aside from brands I think what purchasers really need to look for to be happy with a good HT setup is to purchase an amp with full bandwidth on all channels.(Watch out for this one because many manufacuteres will try to fool you into thinking they have it) and that the amp utilizes high current amplifiers. Note that high current amplifiers will bump you into anther spending bracket from jsut full bandwidth. EJ

  5. I agree with dndfishing. See the link related to this thread. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=26457&pageNo=1&num=&sessionID={E6105530-13AC-4C3C-B063-85C7506560BD} EJ
  6. Guys, Thoeretically using two speakers for the center will not cancel unless on is wired out of phase with the other ie if one is wired backwards as far as +/- terminals go. It is no diferent that listening to a mono source with 2 speakers. You do want to pay attention to pointing the speakers so that they aim at your sweet spot though so they are not crossing each other up. I keep mine pitched out from the sweet spot a little as I have them on opposite sides of the top of my 61" HDTV. No problem with using 2 speakers for centers, I would need to see some proof before I could buy into any of that nonsense about them canceling each other out. As far as using large speakers for the rear there is a major benifit to it under certain conditions. First and foremost your amplifier needs to be full bandwidth on the rear and center channels(If you want to use larger speakers here too). Secondly you will see little gain from large rears and center when listening in pro-logic because the decoding process for these channels is not full bandwith however you will see a slight improvment over small speakers just due to the fullness the larger speakers will provide from their resonance. Now when listening to Dolby digital, DTS, DVD-A, or other full bandwidth on all channel sources you will hear a dramatic improvement by using large speakers. I read in another post(Surrounds for Hornhounds in the Home Theater section) that primarily what comes out of the rears is ambient sound. This is true to a certain degree but alot of material has some serious bass on these channels. You can hear big explosions, vehicles rumbling etc from the rears. Also do you plan on doing any 5 channel stereo listening? This is another thing to think about. Utimately you would want large speakers on all channels and you would want all speakers to be 3-way for the most seamless and accurate listening expirience. You can really get engulfed in the sound sound especially with some good source material. Food for thought. EJ
  7. Jim I gotta step in and disagree here. Although the heresy's do not go as low they are more speaker than the KG-4, not that I don't like the KG-4 because they are a very good speaker with a decent bottom end they just dont have the heritage horns. Justin, I cant remeber if you have any Heritage or not but once you go Heritage you will never go back. Try the Heresey's they will you will like plus they are more durable and can be refinished alot easier especially if you can find the unfinished birch. Next thing you know youll be sport'n a set of khorns. EJ
  8. Avman, How did you find that out? They are probably going to carry the computer speakers I would imagine. Still, Klipsch at SAM's? I hope this isn't a sign of the times for Klipsch. EJ
  9. My $0.02, IMO Sony is not junk and I would say that without them mainstream electronics probably would not be where they are today as far as features and affordability. Also attacking other's equipment choices because you think what you have is the best is strictly a matter of opinion. You can rifle off specs all day long, until all amplifiers are tested in a controlled vaccum environment the specs must be taken with a grain of salt. I would also hope that if you pay 4k+ for an amp it had better be the sh!t and should not even be compared to lower priced mass produced mainstream amplifiers. I am completely happy with the RX-V1 that I bought, no way in hell would have I paid the 3k retail. Some say the Dennon sounds this way and it's better...Ok great, thats fine, I'm glad you like Dennon or whatever brand X. Whatever floats your boat. We all take alot of pride in our systems and we are here not to belittle each others stuff but rather to celebrate the reproduction of music and to discuss the rewards we get by doing it through Klipsch speakers. Also I agree with Ray on the whole pot thing. Legalize it. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! EJ
  10. Boa, Yea and I was just thinkin matching in general. This brings up a question that I have. Do the new Heresey's sound like the old ones or is there is big difference there? EJ
  11. BigBen, Awesome, you are probably making the boomers on wheels that drive by jealous. EJ
  12. Homeless, I have decided to stick with it a while. It's tastelessness compliments my complete and total lack of tact. EJ
  13. Dean, Cornwalls.....Ugly.......Come on man. Big but not Ugly. Boxy but not Ugly. I shall refer you directly to the first line of my signature.LOL EJ
  14. I use the Cornwalls for my surrounds with my Khorns and a pair of heresey's on the center. I use the RX-V1 amp which has the test tone to set and eq match your speakers for 5.1-6.1 listening and I find that the Cornwalls are a very close to the Khorns. I had to tweak the Heresey's quite a bit to get a seamless match though. It's just a little food for thought but the Cornwalls are very close even though the LaScalas would probably be best. EJ
  15. Boa, I graduated from Kennedy in 91'. Lived in CR from 78-91. Moved up to ND after I graduated as my parents were from there and he rest of my entire family lives there. As soon as I graduated college I got out though. Right now My parents are moving dowmn here to Orlando from Fargo. They are moving into my curent house and we are moving into our new house as I speak. I was hoping that my addition would be completedbefore I moved in but the rain has kind of put a damper in it. Small world. Did you know anyone from Kennedy around the years I was there? I don't remember knowing anyone from musctine but I definitly knew you guys existed. EJ
  16. J-M, I believe the size of speaker also plays a role in that size of port and box size equation. I don't think I would reccomend the K-33 for a sub though just because it works in the Corn's. I think there would be some better choices like a Monster 18" EVoice that would really hit. Alot of the subs speakers that you can buy from miscelaneous vendors will give box size and port size to tune to the speaker. This kind of takes the quess work out it. EJ
  17. John, Why dont you start a new thread and call it "RSVP Klipsch BB to Indy". Maybe if we can get enough names in the thread you can swing this deal. I gotta believe if the thread can get longer than this operation Klipsch BB in Indy will be greenlighted by Klipsch. I'm there. EJ
  18. Jshep, Barney, I like it. Anybody got the balls to go with teletubbies? EJ
  19. Heresey for center is almost a perfect match especially if you or you amp have the capability to eq to match fronts as a little tweakage in the mid does help but its hard to get them as throaty as the Khorns mid driver. I have 2 on the front center with my Khorns and it is seamless, I love it. EJ
  20. I have a pair of them. A great sounding little speaker. They have surprisingly good bass. I picked up a pair a couple years ago to use for rear channels while waiting to pick up more Heritage. They are well worth $300 as you'd be hard pressed to find anything comparable for that price at least new. However I don't want to throw a kink in your plans to sell but SoundAdvice ran those things on sale for about 1 1/2 years for buy 1 get 1 free. Thats when I picked mine up for 3 bills. Even got my friend to pick up a pair. I think most on this BB know that about about these speakers, don't know why SA had a hard time getting rid of them. Probably because people figured they spend the little extra and get the 10.5's and quite a bit more speaker. They do sound great though after they are broken in. Looks like they are in new conditiona anyway so hopefully you should have no problem. I wouldn't go any lower than $250. For that why bother even getting rid of them just hang on to them. Good Luck. EJ
  21. If ISU is MU I would hate to hear what you guys would hve to say about my alma mater North Dakota State University. Studied Civil Engineering there but grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA so your last post hit home a little boa. You think ISU is MU go north another 800 miles. It's like another world. Can you say 4H. Seriously though all college students like to party and northern minnesota has the highest concentration of true blondes per capita than anyplace in the US. BTW as soon as I graduated I moved to AZ and now I am in FL. If I never see snow again it will be too soon. EJ
