  1. This is so funny. These guys must really get around. EJ
  2. I am building a room on my place that is 30'w x 25'd x 9.25'h to house my Khorns and little brothers. I will let everyone know how it sounds. They finished the block today so it wont be long now. I hope to be into it in about 4-5 weeks. I pretty much calulated how far away from the tv I wanted to be and made that the center of the room where the khorns will point to. It was anything majorly calculated for sound properties but from what I have read I think it should work ok. EJ
  3. Cool, my new HT rommwill be 30'x25'x9.25' so I'm ballpark with Paul's theroy. My diagonal is a mere 7' more. They finished my block walls today, I'm pumped. EJ
  4. Couple things to keep in mind here: First, when in a studio everything affects sound that goes to the board just as it does from your cd player to your amp to your speakers. Equipment and microphone choices will affect the sound with the microphones being a significant part of how stuff sounds. People use different mics to enhnce or take away certian things in the original sound of the instrument or vocals. Second, they do want to use flat speakers to monitor tracks and for final mixdown. There needs to be a benchmark or a zero set if you will. In order to know where to tweak and where not to the preference would be to use the flattest sounding speakers possible. Keeping in mind the final mixdown is rarely mixed without tweaking the sound. This is done to create more of a flat sound that will sound better on an array of different speaker types on the final printing. Keeping it flat on mixdown keeps everything there musically as they try not to take away anything but rather equalize to flat. Noting that things are punched up depending on the music. This allows the listener(consumer) to tweak their setup to their individual taste since all of the information is available on the track. I myself do not like to listen flat. I crank the bass and treble all the way most of the time, but I do like to start with a set of relatively flat sounding speakers because they allow me to tweak anywhere in the frequency spectrum. Some speakers you can try to equalize certain frequencies but it just doesn't seem to do much, that is because the speakers are not reproducing that range worth a darn. When I equalize my Heritage, I can hear every little adjustment on the eq and it normally doesn't ake alot of adjustment. Keep in mind the flatter sounding speakers you have the more range you have for tweaking because the speakers are not lacking at reproducing any given frequency of sound. I have been in a recording studio numerous times but am not a sound engineer therefore what I say may make absolutley no sense to anyone that really knows what they are talking about. EJ
  5. Main Room Khorn's - Mains Lascala's - Front Effects Lascala - Center Surrounds A - Some big *** home built horns. I can't remember what he called them but they had Khorn drivers in them and they did not need corners. Surrounds B - Lascala's on top of big horns (Soon to be mine) Rear Center - Universtiy Classic 2nd Room Khorns Q is an excellent cabinet builder and has some really neat cabinets that he has built and is working on. Q, hope I didn't tell anyone anything you didn't want them to know. EJ Edit: Mike beat me to the punch I see.
  6. Doug, I agree for indoor short wire runs between components. I have heard that RG59 can burn up when used on the satelite end of the satelite receiver. The install guy told me he has seen it happen. BTW, i usually do all of my own installs but used the dishmover so cost was $0.00 and alot less headach. Guy was actually pretty cool. He grew up with Jesse James from the Moster Machines show. EJ
  7. Stopped over to Qman's place this weekend to give him the down payment on the LaScala's that I am getting from him. I can't wait to bring them home when the addition is completed. All I can say is "Damn!" Awesome setup. It sounded great. Q it was great meeting you, I hope we can get together and listen to some more Blues. Next time I will definitley bring over some tasty stuff you didn't have in your collection. EJ
  8. A guy at Ebay is selling 5 Heresey's. Buy it now for like $1050 from Texas. That would be a sweet little 5.1 setup, just add sub. EJ
  9. I have mine between tv and Khorns and they sound good there. I think yamaha reccomends they go above and behind the main fronts. Expirement and see how it sounds. EJ
  10. I beleive it's the cheaper coax. Not for outdoor use and the sheilding is not as good. It's the crap that came with your VCR, not the stuff that runs outside into your cable box and through your walls, that should be RG6. EJ

    SPIDER-MAN

I was surprised. It was very good, and the 5.1 is very good too. EJ
  12. I got stopped by these clowns in the Home Depot parking lot about a year and a half ago. I was slowly cruising out of the parking lot in my 67 camaro and a guy in a white van pulls up bside me and sticks his head out the window and is like you wanna buy some big speakers for cheap? I looked at his van and him and said no thanks I have more speakers than I know what to do with as it is and kind of laughed. I did ask him if they were Klipsch and he said no so I just drove off. He probably sold some in that parking lot though. This is the first time I ever heard that this was a scam. I didn't even remeber that day until I started reading some of the links that were posted. After seeing those speakers, Idont think I would have pisd more than $100 anyway if I did need speakers. EJ
  13. Rob, When runnjing in p[arallel all you are doing is running two speakers the exact sme way you would run one. Insted of hooking one pair (+/-) of wire off the amp you run 2 off one channel. You can also pigglyback one set of wires off the back of one speaker to the other if you do not want to run 2 sets of wires from the amp to the speakers. Parallel just means you run positive to postive terminal and negative to negative terminal on both speakers. To clarify what series is: When you hook the positive wire from amp to (1) center speker positive binding post, run one wire form (1) center spekaer negative post to (2) center speker positive binding post, run one wire from (2) center speaker negative binding post back to negtive output terminal on amp. Thus now these two speakers are wired in a series. Noting that a series connection will give your overall impedence that the source sees as (1)center impedence plus (2)center impedence. The formula(ohm's law) for resistors(speakers in this case) in parallel is ((1) center impedence plus (2) center impedence)/N, where N equals the nuber of resistors which in this case is two(2 speakers). Series is just the sum of resistor impedences. Also noting that impedence or resistance is measured in Ohms. Thus when running in parallel will give you 4 ohms and series will give you 16 ohms. To make a long story short to run in parallel just run the speaker wire the way you would run any speaker wire except hook two spoeakers up to one output on your receiver. EJ
  14. I agree that the pioneers have the best picture. I have a 61" Hitachi HD and I thought an as good if not better picture as the Sony's I lloked at. As KJ said I got an excellent value on it at Circuit City. I have viewed the Mitsu's also but not side by side with the Hitachi but nothing particular about it stood out to be better than the Hitachi picture, just a bigger price tag. In my opinion of course. EJ
  15. Gotta admit I am curous as to what the pics were too. I went over to that section and read the posts but no pics. EJ
  16. I've done 145mph on many an occasion on my GSX-R. EJ
  17. $192 for a passive!!!!!!!!! I would use a different brand before I would pay that. Thats a total rip off. Shame on Klipsch, youv'e already bought the speakers and thenm they goudge you for the replacement parts. Oh yea, just fix it with some silicone that'll work fine. Just use smoe decent stuff so that you don't end up having to try to fix again because if it tears loose it will take some of your contact away. Goop the piss out of is much as possible while still alowing proper travel of the cone. EJ
  18. Just ran across something in the company newsletter so I thought I would share it: There I Grow Again Don't worry if you have problems. This is easy to say until you are in the midst of a really big one, I know. But the only people I am aware of who don't have troubles are gathered in little neighborhoods. Most communities have at least one. We call them cemeteries. If you're breathing, you have difficulties. It's the way of life. And believe it or not, most of your problems may actually be good for you. Let me explain. Maybe you have seen the Great Barrier Reef, stretching some 1,800 miles from New Guinea to Australia. Tour guides regularly take visitors to view the reef. On one tour, the guide was asked an interesting question. "I notice that the lagoon side of the reef looks pale and lifeless, while the ocean side is vibrant and colorful," a traveler observed. "Why is this?" The guide gave an interesting answer: "The coral around the lagoon side is in still water, with no challenge for its survival. It dies early. The coral on the ocean side is constantly being tested by wind, waves, storms - surges of power. It has to fight for survival every day of its life. As it is challenged and tested it changes and adapts. It grows healthy. It grows strong. And it reproduces." Then he added this telling note: "That's the way it is with every living organism." That is how it is with people. Challenged and tested, we come alive. Like coral pounded by the sea, we grow. Physical demands can cause us to grow stronger. Mental and emotional stress can produce tough-mindedness and resiliency. Spiritual testing can produce strength of character and faithfulness. So, you have problems - no problem. Just tell yourself, "There I grow again." -Author Unknown EJ
  19. Heres the link to the picture. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/Angelica.jpg For some reason the real link leaves off the .jpg therefore it does not find the photo. I just clicked on the picture that you tried to post and checked it's properties. I saw that you had downloaded it from C:WINDOWS/Angelica.jpg therefore i then knew the name of the photo and realized that the link was showing the proper name of the photo so I went into the adress bar and added the .jpg and whola. So it looks like if you upload pics you may need to drop the .jpg since the BB isn't recognizing it and is thus dropping it from the link or something like that. Who know, maybe your just like the rest of us tblasing and have absolutly no idea what your doing.LOL EJ
  20. We are sheep. They just better not ever try to take our guns, that would be the last straw. Trying to take guns from the honest people only gives the power to the corrupt(criminals, gov't, etc.). The fact that so many American people have guns is what keeps the gov't from doing something that would really piss us off. Oh yea, and if you break into my house, you will be shot. EJ IMO of course
  21. Very clean setup, looks great. Having a clean wiring setup is a great way to make the system shine in appearance. My system is a mess right now as I am in between a move. I have all my stuff temporarily in the living room as I am waiting for my addition to be finished, then I will move the stuff to the 25x30 HT room. I plan on putting all the wring in the walls as you have done. Right now I have a birds nest of wires hanging off the side of my Khorns(which my amp is sitting on) like you wouldnt believe. It's almost embarrasing. EJ
  22. tblasing, i cant get it to uplosd, it says page not found. EJ
  23. Clu, It just seemed like the thing to do. There are a few posters out there that would have started attacking me if I had misunderstood what they meant by their post and I went on the defensive a little. Ray's response was not like that at all but rather he adressed my questions and clarified and has now made me just a little bit smarter. As opposed to just responding like a jerk. EJ
  24. The Z1 is really nothing more than the V1 with a few more bells and whistles. The guy I talk to at the local SOund Advice told me that it is a little bit of a running joke there that the Z1 is just a repackaged V1. They have had them apart and said the the internals look identical. The Z1 advertises a higher power rating but it really seems like manufacurers always do this when they come out with something new or update something. I would be a little surprised if there is any realy difference in power output between the v1 and z1 although its possible but how would they do it without changinging the transformer unless they manipulate the numbers or test output with different parameters? Maybe someone knows more about this than me. Anyway the V1 has 8 Burr-Brown DAC's, huge transformer, killer DSP's, tons of in/outputs, extremely flexible, incredible sound, and at the new price a great value that I would and didn't pass up. Just my $.02. EJ
  25. I think that Circuit City carries HK. That is if you want to buy from them. EJ
