  1. They are a pair the MRF-350 needs the RFX-250 to work, If I had an MRX-1 base station I'd also need an RFX-250 to make it work. Also you can also use more than one RFX-250 to increase RF range. In addition the MRF-350 has six 3.5 mm IR outputs another MRF-350 can be added if more than six 3.5 mm IR outputs are needed
  2. Yeah like I said I am surprised it is not in the software data base. But there is a lot more than what you see in the software and the software has a tool in it that is for importing IR codes.
  3. it is odd that they don't have Panasonic projectors listed in the data base. But you do need to remember as far as URC is concerned you're not supposed to be programming your own remote, you are not supposed to have the software. URC does not intend on customers ever programming their own remote. They intend on you paying for a custom installer more than the cost of a Harmony One just to program your URC remote. URC installers can get codes that aren't in the database and learning commands from another remote is also very easy to do. But URC does not consider itself in competition with Harmony they are in the custom installer market.
  4. Here are some of my custom graphics I made for my remote.
  5. LOL the MX-890 is not for the complete beginner, but it looks much more daunting at first than it really is.
  6. Probably there are quite a few Klipsch codes in the data base but many have a generic title for the grouping like KLIPSCH 1, KLIPSCH 2, etc. plus many with names of Klipsch products I am not familiar with and I'm not familiar with the Klipsch Wireless HD Controller at all. The only Klipsch IR controlled products I am familiar with are their digital subwoofers and I do know for sure those codes are in the data base. Also pretty much any IR code can be either learned or imported by hex code.
  7. I found a picture of the 3.5 mm jacks I added to my HTPC for wired in IR. I think my soldering turned out pretty well.
  8. Did you race the bigger cars like the Cox, etc. ? My grandfather had a huge 4 lane track that covered the entire basement when I was a kid. Still have some of the cars Roger I use to go to a slot car shop called Hot Slots in Lakewood California, they had two huge tracks its been so long I can't say for sure but I think they were 6 lanes wide. Between Hot Slots and the billards place right next to them I spent a lot of time and pretty much all of my paper route earnings.
  9. Recently I've been soldering a few 3.5mm mono connectors making some nice custom trigger and IR cables. They came out very nice I am very happy with them, otherwise I hadn't soldered since my slot car days as a kid.
  10. I emailed them and bought the set for $3,000 I sent a money order, now I just need to wait for delivery they are being shipped Nigerian Express, I can't wait.
  11. URC remotes can do this much better than Harmony as well. Harmony is good but URC is better at everything. URC can do everything Harmony can but Harmony cannot do everything URC can. My URC remotes pair by RF with my URC MRF-350 RF base station. My URC MRF-350 connects IR by 3.5 mm cable to the back of most of my components also by 3.5 mm cable, no blasters in front of my components, no emitters or blasters stuck to the front of my components. Just ultra reliable RF to IR directly wired which never fails to operate every button push from anywhere inside or from just outside of my home. Looks great without the emitters or blasters and is far more reliable. URC can do far more than Harmony in the RF, hidden cabinet, other room, no direct point type setups. URC remotes are just better quality, the construction, build quality, how long they will last and continue working. how well they work, great IR strength. better RF/IR distribution abilities. there is more you can do with URC. They do require a little learning to program but really are very simple to learn to program. If you have difficulty with most basic software programs URC is not for you, but if you want your system to work at it's best really URC are the best remotes.
  12. We are losing so many lately. I guess this getting older is really starting to take effect, it sucks. Once again RIP
  13. My personal favorites include the MX-800, MX-850, MX-780 and MX-890. The MX-800 / MX-850 are both similar older style classic design URC remotes which feel very good in your hand and are very easy to operate and be familiar with to use and do most operations without even needing to look at the remote. Very powerful IR with RF ability as well when combined with an RF base station. I find these my favorites for a few reasons including how well they are made and how nice they are to use, they are very comfortable in hand and very natural to use. These have been my favorite go to remote. The MX-780 / MX-890 are similar models in their design as well. They feature a more modern styling with a color image screen display. Great design great build quality. Again powerful IR and RF capability with an added RF base station . They feel good in hand though to me the classic MX-800 / MX-850 models just seem to have a more natural feel and easier to blindly identify buttons. The MX-800 / MX-850 are a little easier to program than the MX-780 and MX-890 though all are really not that complicated software programs. I think the toughest part for new remote owners is understanding just what is possible with these remotes compare to the standard remotes that come with equipment. Once you are familiar with them they are very simple to program. After owning many types of universal remotes my first URC remote was the easiest remote I ever programmed and the first remote I owned that was capable of controlling everything and doing everything I wanted exactly how I wanted to be able to do it.
  14. BBQ grill - Stiff bristle brass brush, turn flame on high. Speaker grill - Soft bristle nylon brush, turn volume to high.
  15. A good universal remote will be able to do everything your original remotes can do but better and sometimes even things your original remotes can't do. A good remote won't need to be pointed a certain direction or even be in the same room as what you wish to control. Things like turning ON or OFF a complicated multi component system with one push of a button. Controlling components behind doors or walls and in different rooms. Also control matching pairs of identical components (same brand/model) completely independently of one another. Macros control multiple operations and components with one button push, Discrete functions rather than common toggle functions allow things like the remote knowing whether a component needs to turn ON or OFF or exactly which input you need etc. A good remote will completely control everything in your system how you want or need and do it much easier, much simpler without fumbling or fiddling or having to figure out what needs to be turned ON or set to what. You can even control other things in your home like lights, curtains, display back lighting, cooling or heating and other forms of home automation.
  16. Harmony is a good start, but the best remotes are URC, by far the best build quality, best design and best program ability. URC is designed to be a professional installers remote, programmed only by paid professional installers. But if you have good basic computer abilities they are easy to learn to program and once you become familiar with them very easy to program. With just a little learning you can easily custom program your remote to do everything you want and probably much more. URC remotes feel much better in your hand and just work much better than anything else. Getting the software with a URC remote is the most important part as URC wants to keep the software unavailable to consumers and keep them as a professionally installed only product which is a shame as they are the best home theater DIY remote just not marketed that way.
  17. Well I can say I love the RF-5 sound, that's with an F as in FRANK. I bought my RF-5's new around 2001 and have upgraded everything in my system since but I have never felt the need to change my RF-5's, I love their natural sound. They just have kept sounding better and better as I have fine tuned my system around them. I prefer them to the RF-63, I never really cared that much for the RF-63 / RF-83 models. The RF-7 is just larger than I really want and I don't feel it is has the natural balanced sound that I love in the RF-5. I find the RF-5 has been the perfect speaker for me, I don't want a big sound, I want a natural and well refined sound and my RF-5's have been perfect. When setup with a system that works well with them they really perform very good, but if not they won't.
  18. Great updated version.
  19. This one was a shocker, RIP David
  20. Not true, there is a man in prison who is supposedly going to get the operation(s) to become a woman on the tax payers. I believe he won the case already, it was supposedly cruel punishment for him to be denied the surgery, Although I don't see why this means the peoples taxes should pay for this, he should at the very least have to pay for the surgery himself. But this has nothing to do with my tax theory, that is just a making fun of the whole situation and how stupid our government has become, Also I don't care about anyones feelings a man will never be a woman no matter how he feels or what surgery is performed artifcial is artificial. Margarine is not real butter and cannot legally claim to be. Also sorry the man in the video is not a six year old girl no matter how he feels or how badly he may want it.
  21. Nope in my opinion after the operation they should be addressed as "it", no man can become a woman or vice versa. You are what you are so get use to it as it cannot really ever be changed. But since the government now seems to support these ridiculous ideas, I've always felt I was born a "non taxpayer" and I've never felt comfortable as a taxpayer. I've decided it's time for me to be my real self and should be allowed to become a trans non taxpayer, I am sure there are others out there we need to unite and demand our rights and be recognized. We're here, we're non taxpayers, get use to it!
  22. I think the perfect replacement that's slightly smaller and fits well on a stand would be the RB-5. The RB-5 basically has the same woofer with just one horn (same horn as RS-7's two). It will match the same in appearance and won't lose any sound quality, it's a great speaker.
