  1. On their website, it says that home installations will continue, I would think that applies to deliveries as well?
  2. Yep. Luckily, I got to work from home today, and I did my shoveling last night when it was "warm" (that's 12 above for you folks down south)
  3. C'mon, bad economy or not, if you can't afford a $50 box, maybe you should be out doing something other than watching TV.
  4. All these companies advertise "CD quality sound" but really the sound is shite. They probably have people who don't know any better convinced.
  5. I just popped in this disc to check it out. I didn't see anything after the credits?
  6. Wait a minute. That can't be right. What Blu-Ray player do you have?
  7. Check the "Garage", someone just posted a pair this morning. James Either I'm blind or you're mistaken?
  8. Any idea where you would get the RS-7s? I've been kind of looking for a set, but can't find them anywhere.
  9. I've had several Pioneer Elite receivers, and love them. I currently have the VSX-92TXH and am very pleased with it. I replaced my old Denon AVR-4802 with it. I was apprehensive at first, because the Denon has more power, etc, but honestly, I think the Pioneer is just as good. I found mine on a closeout (and I have a friend who manages the store) for about $550. I use it for HDMI switching - (it only has 3 HDMI--1 more would have been much better), It handles all the advanced sound formats (DD+, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, and Multi-Channel PCM). My TV only has DVI, so I run a HDMI to DVI cable to my TV. I actually think I got an improved video signal when I switched to this receiver, but that could be just in my head. I do have my Regular DVD player and my Wii connected with Component video, and it upconverts to 1080i (I haven't found a way to change that), and both look great--my TV is 720p, but can accept a 1080i signal. Hope this helps, I have never owned an Onkyo, but I understand they are nice?
  10. I've always been able to tell if a TV is turned on in a room even if it is muted, because I can hear the buzzing sound.
  11. You are all wrong, but Speakerfritz is sorta close. Here is the wikipedia page that explains: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte
  12. I find that I have to turn the volume up quite a bit on Dolby TrueHD tracks vs. DTS-HD MA or PCM. I haven't really tried a BD with regular DD or dts yet, so I can't really comment on that.
  13. Coytee, you said twice that Edmunds has a higher MSRP than the dealer quoted. But the price the dealer quoted is higher than Edmunds? I'm sure you meant Edmunds was lower, but you said it 2 times. Also, what equipment did you price the car with on Edmunds? Chances are, the dealer is not going to stock a lot of inventory of stripped down cars with no optional equipment. Usually they'll order cars with at least a few extras (like floor mats, radio, etc).
  14. I've got long pants and a long sleeved shirt, under a blanket with the heat cranked and I'm still freezing. Actually, It's warmed up to 9 degrees now, so it's practically tropical. We are running out of places to put the snow, and it's still December (and only today is it officially winter).
  15. Wait. Is this April Fool's Day?
  16. I have mine x-ed over at 50. With my old receiver, I had it x-ed over at 40. It sounds much better at the lower x-over frequencies than at 80.
  17. Agreed. I almost didn't even watch this one because the first one was so crappy, but this one was awesome. And I'm pretty sure I know what Mr.RF62 is referring to as far as possible spoilers. Let's just say you can look forward to a cameo (actually 2 cameos, if you include Stan Lee, who is in every Marvel movie).
  18. Not that this has anything to do with the original question, but -- Where are you going to find a player that has 3 or 4 S/PDIF outputs? What would possibly be the reason for that? This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.
  19. Yes, you can get TrueHD, but not through optical. You'd have to use the 7.1-Channel analog audio outputs. As far as video, you should be able to send any video format over HDMI (or an HDMI to DVI cable).

    Wanted

I also watched this on Blu-Ray a couple days ago. Thought it was excellent, very entertaining, a little overboard on the swearing, but otherwise... The soundtrack was definitely awesome.
  21. Was that not in the original version? He did warn her.
  22. Iwillwalk, it doesn't seem like you have an answer to your original question, so here it is. Without HDMI on your receiver, you will not get 5.1 on that particular movie. Sorry. You can either upgrade your receiver, or get a player with 5.1/7.1 analog output. Many people think that All Blu-Rays have a standard DD track in them, it's part of the BR standard, but that is not correct. The PS3 can decode the TrueHD track, but the problem is, it will only send it out as PCM via the HDMI connection. With optical, you'll only get 2 channel. Wanted has DTS-HD Master audio, not TrueHD. You are getting the same result with that? It was my understanding that those tracks had a dts core that would pass through via optical, but it might be different with the PS3, I've read that the PS3 can't handle DTS-HD Master audio?
  23. Since it clearly shows you on the screen that the button should be facing the back, no, I never had this problem. []
